Haven't you heard of bondo? :D

Yeah, that would look real classy! Maybe some colored Play-Doh!

Have a Boyds Spike Camp on the way and should be here Weds. One of our customers had one at the range Thursday and it felt much more comfortable. I did shoot the Thumbhole some more and so did a couple co-workers. I believe the Spike Camp is going to be a much better fit.

So the next New Boyds stock arrived today. Yes it is a Spike Camp in the same color as the Thumbhole stock. The swap has already been made and honestly it feels much better. Not fond of all the sharp cut corners but the grip fits better and I do not feel as if I am stretching my finger to reach the trigger.

Have to work the range tomorrow but I will try to get some pictures and get them posted tomorrow night.

Sorry folks. Took it to work with me this morning and got as far as setting it up on a bench and then they came, packed all day. Finally at 5pm I had to kick out the last two shooters. Don't work tomorrow so I will try again as I also have 5 new loads to try out. One new bullet and two old powders.

Latest Update,
Took it to the range Friday. Results were not good. Set up a 15" target at 200yds and took 6 shots to find paper. Even then I could not get it to hold a group together. After about 20 rounds I packed it in and took it home. After I got home I broke it down and really could not find any spots that looked like contact.

Sat. I took it with again only with the original wood stock back on. After a couple sighters I was able to dial it in again so there is something up with this stock.

You sure it's tightened up right, maybe the action screw bottom out before it should.

On the Savage the action screws go thru the receiver chamber and if threaded in too far the bolt will not function.

Certainly something is amiss so yes I will be doing a full bedding and pillars on it. Opposed to the Thumbhole stock that I didn't feel comfortable with this one I will keep.

Use some clay on the underside of the barrel nut, so if you remove the barrel of loosen the nut it will still fit in the stock.

it's normally better to bed the first few inches of barrel.

Seems we've been reading different source materials. Actually I have been reading a lot on this subject and have a few discussions with a few folks on the subject as a whole including bedding and the use of pillars. Seems there are as many different ways to bed as there are to reload. None right, none wrong, just different. Or at least no one has been able to prove right or wrong.
