New CZ-2075 RAMI BD DECOCKER

Marty, I don't own either gun, but I'm almost certain that the manual safety-equipped CZs do not have a decocker built in to the safety. It is just that, a manual safety. Many people still carry these guns in double-action by manually lowering the hammer on a loaded chamber. They can, of course, also be carried cocked & locked.

The decocker models have no manual safety. You got it right with your explanation of how they work. The decocker safely drops the hammer to the DA spot, and subsequent shots are SA, until the decocker is pressed again, usually just prior to reholstering, unless you're practicing your DA trigger
stroke.

That is not correct the RAMI "B" has the same type safety as a 1911. It can also be manually decocked and fired in a DA/SA mode.

The BD is mechanically decocked and can be fired DA/SA but cannot be carried in condition-1

Kind of Blue, and Rockwell, thank you for your reply. I'm pretty clear now about the RAMI BD. But Rockwell, I don't have a 1911, so I am not sure how that safety works. I know what Condition One is, i.e. one in the chamber, cocked, no safety, and first shot ready for SA fire. Not how I want to carry.
Would either/both of you please explain just exactly what I would have if I purchased the "regular" RAMI, not the BD version? Presume the round is in the chamber, and as a result the hammer is cocked. Now, given then, do I have to manually lower the hammer (slight trigger pull, while holding the hammer from releasing all the way) or does the safety do any decocking? Or does putting the safety on at that point simply lock the trigger, and the hammer is back? Is a firing pin block in force at this time?

I don't mean to sound so stupid. I have been handling firearms since my first entry in the military 39 years ago. But there are so many variations, so much overlapping descriptions, and so many differences between pistols, I would really like to know before I order one.

For the record, I like the safety on my PPK/S. All in all, it's just about perfect for me, except that .380 just plain cannot be found any more. My February order with Midway USA just got pushed back to Sept 09! Yes, 7 months since the order! I have plenty of 9mm, and am looking for a similar pistol to match the ammo I have. (Now that's a real statement on today's situation, isn't it?)

No, the RAMI standard safety puts it in cocked and locked mode, like a 1911, decocking must be done manually. The BD decocks to the half cock notch, a safe way to carry the piece.

So, Armoredman, (thanks for replying), given what I now know, and given my preference for the PPK/S safety/decocker, do you think I'd prefer the BD or the "regular" RAMI? (I know, I'm used to both a decocker, AND an option for a safety) Given one or the other, I think I'd prefer the decocker. What about you?

Thanks for all the info. Yesterday I mentioned that my Midway order for .380 had slipped to September. Today I received an email saying it was in, I was now being charged, and it would ship in a day or two!

I also think that a RAMI BD would serve you well.
A bit larger and heavier than a PPK, but not subject to recent recall..and much cheaper to shoot than the rather scarce and
expensive .380 ammo.

I'm always looking for new pics to add:
