I ordered this pistol in July and received it this past Friday. :what: A co-worker and I went to the range yesterday to shoot some trap and try out the new Ed Brown at the pistol range. We shot 50 rounds of Black Hills 230gr FMJ, 50 rounds of PMC 230gr FMJ and 15 rounds of Black Hills 230gr JHP using the Ed Brown 8-pack magazine that came with the pistol in addition to a pair of Kimber, Dan Wesson and Wilson (ETM) magazines. All magazines have CHECK-MATE dimpled followers and C-M springs. As expected, not a single issue and the pistol is very accurate even with the 10-8 sites. I've already swapped the standard grips for some VZ Double Diamonds grips and will post some photos of the Ed Brown Special Forces "family" later today. Here's how the pistol was ordered.

1) SF-SS-G3-LR-A - Special Forces with Light Rail, stainless, ambi safety, Gen III
2) 25lpi checkering on the front strap and MSH (not chainlink)
3) Maxi-Well
4) Front cocking serrations
5) Extended magazine release
6) Serrated slide stop
7) Rear 10-8 site
8) 8-pack magazine

That is truly a beautiful piece of art. I have recently gotten the bug to purchase a custom 1911 for no reason other than I want one. I carry a springfield gi champion or the gi loaded black steel with target sights, and love both of them.

I started researching nighthawk custom 1911 and was disappointed that they do not warranty their 1911 as I would need an ambidextrous safety, so they are out of the loop. I checked the wilson combat 1911. I wrote the company and emailed them and they have not responded to my question about the warranty due to the ambi safety, it has been about 4 weeks. So needless to say they to are out of the running.

So my choice will be the Ed Brown custom since they honor their waranty and guns regardless of the ambi switch. I am just thinking and deciding what I want on this 1911.

What is the trigger pull on yours? Thanks for the photos.

Around 3-1/2lb ... and it was too wet today to take photos with the new grips. Next week maybe.

All I can say is WOW!! That is an amazing looking pistol you have there.

Congrats on such a fine looking piece of hardware. :)

Thanks smitty704! Here's the set of Special Forces models. Not the best photos but they'll have to do for now.
