New Fad? Is a 410 for Turkeys real?

As much as I love hunting with a 410, I would never try to use one for duck or geese. A 410 is the only shotgun I use for rabbit, squirrel, quail, and dove. I haven't used a 410 for turkey since I was a kid. We made do with what we had and that worked.

I shot a few ducks with 6 shot jumping 'em off the creek when I was a kid. BUT, steel shot wasn't the rule, then. With the advent of steel shot laws, I wouldn't even think of using the .410. 12 is the way for ducks and geese in a steel shot world. I tried using a 20, but it didn't pattern well enough with 3".

Heck, I have a 10 gauge for geese. :D

I had the perfect goose/duck gun when I was a teenager. It was a Mossberg 20 gauge goose gun with like a 30" barrel and the old chokes that screwed onto the outside of the barrel. I couldn't/wouldn't shoot steel shot through it though. And yes I have taken a handful of wood ducks along small creeks with a 410.
