I just took delivery on a new Glock21 SF 45, my first glock. I notice the slide has a little play in it. I can move the rear slide are back just a little bit, but enough to where it makes a rattle sound. Is this normal for a glock?
Also, the gun case contained a small envelope with two aluminum shell casings. What are these for?
thanks, chuck

IIRC my 21sf had a bit of play as well.

The cases are for states that require a spent shell for tracing your gun if it's ever used in a crime.

A little bit of play is normal. Does the Gun shoot straight? If so, then you dont need to worry. I tend to think that the fit between the barrel and slide is more important to accuracy than slide to frame fit anyway. I have an old Ruger P-gun that has almost 1/8in of play between the frame and slide and it still shoots fine, because the fit between the barrel and slide is good.

As noted, the spent shells are for make-pretend gun tracing schemes.

Thanks for the feedback. Took it out to the range this morning. Shoots pretty straight at 7 and 15 yards. Now I just gotta find a good left hand belt holster.

Proof of test firing.. Nothing more

It's my understanding that some states require those cases to be filed with the state when the gun is registered (if memory serves, MD is like that). If you live in a state where no registration is required, or which does not collect cases for later forensic comparisson to spent cases at a crime scene, then you get them.
