Here is a post from another site about the coming Gen 4 Glock I've been hearing about. It is supposed to be released at the coming SHOT SHOW in January. Check out the new features mentioned in this post;
__________________________________________________________________

Just handled the newest Glock this week. A Glock 22 with changeable grip arch (small, medium & large, with small the permanent default), reversible magazine release (new, somewhat larger rectangular size to the button), a new Rough Texture Frame style (less abrasive then the first iteration), older style grasping grooves on the rear of the slide and a dual (spring w/in spring) recoil spring assembly.

The magazine is also double notched in order to accommodate those who reverse the magazine release, and still has the center notch for the ambidextrous release (for those guns so equipped).

Recoil spring has a different feel to it, and I suspect is meant to slow the slide velocity. Up to around 1,400 rounds with a light attached.

Figure delivery at/after SHOT, then the G17 version, followed by the 19/23.

i just cant get excited about this. i really like the way the glocks are now and i guess i just dont really like change. however, the changeable grip will most likley be a good addition as they will now be able to be talor fit to accomodate any shooter. i will have to hold one before i can really say much more.

So is the gen 4 glock going to be similar to the modular designs that we have seen with the new XDM and S&W M&P. Somone once said that the gen 4 glock was that new Rough Texture Frame or RTF glock. Clarification anyone?

will it still use the same Glock magazines? hope anybody can upload a picture.

The Rough Texture Frame is not the 4th gen. When RTF first came out, people misuse that term "gen" similarly as back when Short Frame (SF) came out, there were also people calling them 4th gen.

To my acknowledge, Glock never use the term Generation until now. The 2nd gen, 2.5 gen, 3rd gen were all made up by fans (Glock Talk). I was really surprised when I saw the post with my own eyes Glock officially announce "4th Gen".

Hopefully the Gen 4 addresses the issue that Glock 22s have with mounting an aftermarket light such as the Streamlight TL1 and Surefire X300 to the accessory rail. We have had ongoing issues with duty issue firearms that jam, fail to go in to battery, have stovepipe issues, and other ftf problems...Take the weapon mounted light off and problems go away...Not a limpwristing issue...Believe me.
