Hey all!

I think ill treat myself with a new present for Christmas - a brand new hand gun.
I was debating a long time about which one to get...
Why not to ask you?
What are your recommendations, what are your favorite guns??
If you can upload some photos of cool guns please do!

What are you wanting the pistol for? Concealed carry, target, hunting? etc? Lots of cool guns out there but for many different uses.

Wow, very broad question. I agree with Cartman308. Tell us of the intended use and then we can better inform. Even then you may not get two responses that have the same suggestion.

Do you want a short gun or a long gun? Do you want it to shoot; bullets, shot, BBs, pellets, flechetes, bolos, slugs or all of the above? Most important (although most men claim it is not important) is color. What color do you want it?

Are you a gun enthusiast or brand new to guns? Do you want if for protection or plinking? If you just want to shoot, than a rimfire would be the way to go. Either ruger or browning buckmark. You can shoot 500 rounds for less than 20 dollars. You can practice your basic skills as well as practice your weak hand shooting for pennies a day. When you have mastered your skills than you could move up to a larger caliber. Your question is very broad do not know anything about your or your interests.

Ok first gun should always be either a Ruger Mk II or a Browning Buckmark in .22lr! Once you become proficient move up to a caliber you can control by renting at your local range. Then when you have found the one you want you can trade in your first or like many of us keep it for plinking.

Sig Sauer's

will spoil you once you buy one !
Everything after them is second rate ! ;)

IMO, get a Glock, everyone should have one at least once in their lives. Weather you decide you love it or not, they are probably the biggest change to pistol dynamics since the 1911. They more or less changed the handgun market when introduced. Either that or a 1911 style of pistol. You should own both at some time in your life. If you are looking at 1911's stick with the well known time proven ones, like Colt. I don't think too many folks will argue that a colt 1911 in 45, or a Glock in any of the 3 popular calibers would be a bad choice. Perhaps deciding on the caliber first would be a good idea. The 9mm is going to be cheaper to feed.

You're starting out with the perfect strategy. And since it is always better to give than receive, so make sure to give yourself a new gun every Christmas.

Until you give more details like needs and wants and other info to help you,you will be better off going to a local gun store and speak with a good knowledgeable salesman.
That way you can address all needs and such faster face to face and you can see and hold the guns and make faster decisions.
That doesnt mean you should end the thread, just give more info so these guys can convince you to buy tons-o-guns you can use and enjoy!

LOL
Thanks for all the replies guys!!!
Since I wasn’t really clear so ill try to narrow down my search suggestions:
I am not a professional gun expert, but I do love to shoot.
I think I have fair knowledge in handguns and rifles.
I currently own 2 handguns (Beretta 92FS and Ruger MKIII) and 1 Rifle I got from a friend (Styer ssg69).
I was thinking to buy something fun to shoot at the range. Im not a police officer and I don’t carry firearms with me on my daily basis activities...
I just wanted to read some of your opinions... gun lovers or experts about what my next purchase should be...
To be honest I am open to any suggestions - shotgun, muzzleloaders or anything you can suggest...

Thanks again!

I suggest an Accelerator .22WMR pistol. Then you will have something no one else at the range has. And, since it's not the top choice for any particular use, it's just the thing for the man who doesn't know what he's going to use it for.

:)

LOL, you didn't really narrow it down any for us, didja? :)

If you've already got a couple handguns, you need an AR15 or an AK47 clone.

Well guys,
Since there were no more suggestions I want to thank you all...
I think I will expand my arsenal with a brand new pump shotgun... I am doing some research and as soon as I know more (thanks to the people on my Shotgun thread) I will post a few pictures of my new family member :)
Thanks for all the replies!

Why not get something that you've been itching to own? Surely you have an idea or two about guns that would look good in your holster, or pocket, or safe?

I was thinking about that myself.

I keep a handgun in a Gunvault by my bedside a night (a S&W Model 686+ .357 Magnum), but I've got a 12 gauge Mossberg 590 in my safe closet loaded with 00 buckshot that I'll retrieve, if doable ;).

Again, I love my wheelguns (mainly .38s and .357s), but there is something extra, extra comforting knowing that with the big, bad ugly 590 I can hurtle 9 .33 caliber lead balls going around 1200 fps at a bad guy with a single trigger pull.
