Personally, I would get a new FNX-9 and put night sights on it, but you seem to be leaning more toward long guns...

A Mossberg 930 Security / Field Combo can be had for $497.20, plus shipping:

The Mossberg 930 is the best autoloader on the market right now, for the money. The combo allows you to have a 28" barrel to hunt & shoot clay games with and the 18.5" lats you keep it handy fir home security duty....

It'll kick less that the .454 did, too :D :what:

By the looks of it, it seems as though you're looking for a shotgun. I say that because you had more shotguns on that list than you did rifles and pistols. So based on that I would give my vote to the Rem 870. But I would also suggest maybe an AR rifle... unless you already have one...

The G21 isn't a bad choice either... it's like they say, "You can't go wrong with a Glock."

i would say get the tikka, personally i love them they shoot great and the craftmanship for the money is wourth it to me. Not to say there aren't other guns out there that are just as good. But I never regreted mine!

never mind I didn't relize your safe list. i thought those were what you were looking into.

  1. Do you have a ccw? If not, get one and a g30, or g36 to go with the g21sf.
  2. Let your wife pick out and purchase whatever weapon she chooses.
  3. Build an AR ($600 won't get you everything once you get started, but it can get you shooting)
  4. FNP or Beretta px4 or beretta 92/96
  5. Get a decent 1911. Rock Island is in that price range and there is nothing wrong with them, other than not being american made.

That list is in order of how I would spend that $600 if I were dead set on buying something.

Since your in MN , stop over in New Ulm at the Hunters Den, they will fix you up with something . Hundereds of used guns, as well as new, in pretty much all catagories. Go shopping ! :D

To oneounceload fun and or hunting.

To ForumSurfer Yes I do have my carry permit but not a gun i did have a sub-compact xd .40 but it shot all over the target.

To mnrivrat New Ulm is 3 hours from me.

Just my humble opinion, but that's a big adjustment from a glock to an xD. I shot primarily 1911's or revolvers growing up, I thought the first glock I ever shot was shooting all over the target. Come to find out, I was all over the target. A little adjustment and all is well. Since you're used to glocks already, maybe you should try a compact or subcompact glock. Even as a 1911 guy, I love my g19 for daily carry when I'm not carrying my commander sized 1911.

I sold the xd and got the glock 21sf. My wife got the glock 17 on her own for her self.

Hello friends and neighbors // My last three purchases if this helps.

Remington model 31 12 ga.
Manuf. August 1945,numbered barrel and receiver, beautiful wear along edges, the bottom of the stock is a little rough due to varnish loss. Cycles great even Winchester short brass, 2 3/4 only---- $270.00

Remington 870 Express Magnum 20.ga
Manuf Oct. 1993, looks new except slide wear, 21" VR barrel with chokes, 13" youth stock. This might become my HD shotgun. Cycles great with three types of shells. I would also like a rifled slug barrel.//// 2 3/4-3"magnum---- Cost of shotgun $165.00

CZ75B .40s&w
Ordered new from my gunsmith $565.00 in hand manuf. April 2010.
I already have the CZ2075 RAMI and have not found a 75B used for a good price. The 10 or 12 round mags. for the 75B will also work in the RAMI.

From "Your" list:

I would get extra barrels for your existing 870, and look for a used 870 20ga. or

Try the CZs.

Have fun with the search.

Pistol: CZ-82, ammo is cheap and its an accurate double stack small handgun perfect for carry.
Rifle: mauser 98 or nice ak-74 type rifle.
Shotgun: Winchester 1897 or model 12, saiga 12 if you like to play with buckshot.
