So the problem is I have no idea what to get so i figure I will ask you all.

What can a man get for $600 dollars????????

This is what I have>

Remington 700 30-06
Tikka lite .243
Remington 597 .22
Remington 870 super mag 12 gauge
Beretta A391 xtrema 2 12gauge
Steven's single shot 16 gauge
Glock 21sf
MY wife as A Glock 17

you got a good bolt action, a good 12 guage, 2 really nice semi auto pistols in common calibers......

i think a 4" bbl .357 Magnum is something that would really round out your collection. for $600.00 you could buy a NIB GP100. which is a very well made and reliable revolver, or you could look for some used SW's like the 686, 586, 19, 66, 13, 65, 28, 27, 581, or 681. Or some of the Ruger "Six" series revolvers like the Security, Speed, or Service Sixes.

i think that the 4" .357 is a must have. great guns! but if that doesn't strike your fancy, take a look at some .22 semis. those are also alot of fun. think Ruger or Browning if you are interested.

Stoeger Cougar. Wonderful gun to shoot. Cheap, accurate, comfortable. Over 1000 rounds through my Cougar 9mm, not a single FTF/FTE/stovepipe or anything.

Same as md7, a 4" .357 would be a nice addition to your collection. Of course, differing barrel lengths are options as well. md7 mentions the Ruger "Six" series revolvers. I picked up this 4" Ruger Police Service Six in Oct '09 for $279. This is an excellent all around gun, having great handling characteristic, excellent accuracy and solid dependability. And with a good gunbelt and holster, this gun is surprisingly easy and comfortable to conceal, mostly due to it's rounded shape and compact grip frame. The barrel length has little impact on carryability.

For around $275 to $300, these are one of the best values on the handgun market today, revolver or auto, IMO. That'd leave you plenty of money left for ammo, gear or possibly another gun.

Good luck!

jad0110, nice six! something about blue on a revolver just makes it look "serious". if that makes sense. my GP is stainless, but i would love to get either a speed or service six in blue and a 3" bbl. one of the best carrying revolvers to be had for on the belt carry.

maybe one with a little wear on it. a little worn off on the barrel and cylinder. awww heck, it could come pristine and i could put my own wear on it. something about honest holster wear on a blued revolver. just fits.

Will a .357 in a 4in or 3in barrel take down most bears and or wolves and still be good for ccw or should one go to a .44mag I use the .454 for wild life protection.

bears? buddy, that is something i know nothing about. we have very few bears here and they are smaller black bears. i have never seen one in the wild. for wolves i think the .357 would be fine. i have seen some big ole hogs killed cleanly with .357, but i don't know about bears.

if i had to guess, i would probably choose something other than a .357 if you are wanting it for bear. 44mag or 454 with a hardcast bullet would probably offer more.
