I put an iwb holster up for sale on Craigslist. A guy from New Jersey emailed me about it. Paint me paranoid, but in a state that effectively bans all concealed carry, why would he be buying this item? I mean for all I know it's illegal to even sell what would be considered gun accessory to someone in this state. Any thoughts?

First off, a holster is not some thing that is banned in NJ (former resident and Police Officer)
The buyer could have a home in some other state that allows CC. I know that NJ has recently passed some stupid new laws (making it a felony to own a BB gun with out the proper paper work!) but owning a holster is not one of them.
That is one reason I moved to WV. Back in I think 1989 NJ passed a bill that banned some types of firearms. I had several that were on the list, all purchased thru FFL dealers, one was a pistol bought on a NJ pistol permit. The law allowed three options 1. deactivate the fire arm. 2. donate it to a museum. 3. sell it. I was not about to do the first two so I sold most but moved some to my friends home in PA.
I was born and raised in NJ and lived there 57 years. When my wife and I started to think about moving, she asked me where I wanted to go. I told here some place I can shoot out the back door. Well that is what I have, my nearest neighbor is a mile away the nearest one I can see is seven miles away.
I have 35 acres I can open the garage door and sight in on my 100 yard target.
I got my CC permit the first year I was here, this is a state where one can own a Class lll firearm or a suppressor.
One other benefit of living here is my property taxes went form almost $10,000 for an 1.3 acres to $800.00 for 35 acres.
And the politicians can't understand why people are leaving the state

OP,
It is NOT illegal to sell it to the NJ resident. Though some of the firearms laws here border on the surreal, it hasn't gotten to the point of banning holsters yet.

I am a NJ resident with non resident CCW permits from Florida and Utah.I have these so when I go to other states that honor the fore mentioned CCW permits I do carry.

There's a couple of reasons that come to mind that a fellow in NJ would want to buy your holster.
He's going to use it for range practice in preparation for moving to someplace sane.
He's a member of the NJ criminal element and wants to know where you live to raid your house.
:)

Permit was needed for a holster *

NJAC title 13 chapter 54: Permit for support device for handgun, pistol or revolver. In order to discourage those who might carry a firearm without a permit. Forth with any carry device used to support or hold a firearm deemed commonly known as a handgun, pistol or revolver is deemed unto itself a weapon contained herein not withstanding the limitations contained into the statute. A permit to purchase a support device that contains any of all of the above must be procured through the NJ state superintendent of police in the jurisdiction of the boro or township that the applicant resides in. And the same shall apply to his or her chief of police for a permit thereof to support device such said firearm. If the applicant is of good repute and solicits four references and releases a mental health check that accompanies a $95 initial fee, subsequent fingerprints recorded in the SBI index database the same shall upon qualification shall receive a permit good for 15 days to acquire a support device to hold a firearm commonly known as a holster.

* No... there isn't a permit needed for a holster...even in NJ. But I wanted to illustrate the idiocy of the idea and how would some politician would word it and have it signed into law.

Again there is no law.

The fact that the question was even asked about the legality of a holster is an indictment of New Jersey's draconian and often vague firearms laws. This is no way making fun of the OP. But rather the process and laws of New Jersey.
