NEW Kimber Tactical Pro II jamming

I cannot comment on Kimber's service, because each of my four has been perfect.

Three were 3", one was 4". All were alloy framed. One had an external extractor.

My current Kimber is a stainless Ultra Carry with Cera-Kote frame and rosewood grips. I have shot factory ammo in FMJ and several types of JHP, no problems. I have shot FMJ reloads, no problems.

I have CCWed it before and will again.

No problem with my Pro Carry CDPII . Still breaking it in but love it. I've CCWed a glock 22 and 19 (and still do from time to time) but the favorite is becoming the Kimber. The more I shoot it the better it seems to get.

I would try a variety of factory ammo before I totally threw in the towel on your Kimber...there are also a variety of simple 'fixes' you may try as well -- ie. Try using Wilson mags and give the gun a good clean & lube prior to your next time out.

i had a new $1100 or so kimber raptor "custom" that wouldnt function. CLICK HERE to see what kimber did for it. i got my money back. the QC just wasnt there, and it was supposed to be a "custom".

I'm still betting any decent new factory ammo will clear up the OP's issues.

That said, ANY good quality factory loads should do it - if anyone has to flit about trying Red Box because it didn't like White Box or UMC because Corbon gave it agita, something is terribly, terribly wrong. If it doesn't work with all reasonable quality commercial loads, it's broken.

Probably right about the Wilson's but I don't like it and never will. My Colt, SA and DW run with factory mags and metalform. Nobody ever exempted Kimber from the not-unreasonable expectation that factory mags should not be defective.

At any rate, we're all speculating...
The OP is due to report back presently and I have a donut riding on everything working right with factory ammo.

Old Fuff:

That's some ugly news to hear. :( Well, it's good news to hear so I don't buy a 2nd one...which I had actually thought of doing. They actually had these advertised as being identical down to being manufactured "...from the original blue prints, and tooling, roll marks..." Wow! Tripple wow!!

I have to find that advertisement, then I need to speak to the owner about it. Whatever info they use to advertise, should be 100% accurate. The advertised information was the sole reason that I bought this model.

I do appreciate you info.

Thanks,

Have you tried out that new Kimber with some factory ammo yet?

I've got a Kimber TacProII as well and with the exception of when going through 100 rounds of Remington UMC it has been totally reliable. With the UMC I would have FTEs on average 1 every 20 rounds. With all the horror stories I've heard of Kimber's recent quality I'm feeling blessed to have gotten one that functions w/o problems.

I don't like the small compacts, but in Commander and full size, I have found a few small tricks to make em run.. theres alot of hogwash in this thread that I wont bother to address..

I have found that 85% of the time, it is operator error. In Post #1, we have a guy that has a brand new gun, hes trying to shoot some store bought reloads..it don't work. He wonders why...

Seems obvious to me.

Remember all the bashing Glock got from the "Limp Wristing"?? Yeah, operator error there too...

What are the “…few small tricks to make em run”? I have owned a lot of Kimbers, 3”, 4” and 5”. I have experienced failures with all 3 sizes. Limp-wrists was one of Dennis’ comments. Dennis has never shaken my hand is all I can respond.

To the point of the aforementioned quote, there should be no “tricks”. A 1911 should run, period, and should do so out of the box.

I recently did a 3,000 round torture test of a G17 and a Colt STS series 70 reissue. I fired many varied sorts of ammunition in each pistol and neither failed. Neither pistol failed in any way, in 3,000 rounds. I never cleaned either pistol during those 3,000 rounds through each pistol, and merely oil added every 100 to 150 rounds.

I know of no “…tricks…” to make a pistol fire properly. IMHO, it is merely a matter quality and attention to detail. Edit to add, I would appreciate if you would quote which of the comments here that you believe are "...hogwash...".
