Well, I got to try out my new version of the lcp, for those not wanting to read a lot... excellent.

I've owned several lcp's in the past and they all found their way out the door, only for me to fall back victim to the idea of pocket carry and go get another one.

The reason I didn't care to let them go is because I just couldn't shoot them to suit me. The sights, the trigger, the way I had to keep re-gripping the firearm, all led me to feel less than confident in the little pocket piece. The concept I loved, a small, cheap, no safety, durable firearm for pocket carry. All of those issues were corrected on this firearm. At least for me.

Along comes the new version and after trying the trigger in the store, I purchased it Friday, finally got to shoot it today.

150 rounds is all I had on hand, the last lcp experiences I've had led me to believe that was more than enough. Not with this one, wished I'd have had more.

2.5" 5 shot groups at 30 yards. Also keep in mind I've been out of shooting for a while and am a bit rusty, but the little guy really surprised me. The trigger was actually a little better than a stock glock. Kinda more like my 19 with zev tech springs and disconnect. Sights are integral but much larger and easier to pick up. Mine has closer to a 12 o'clock hold with the ammo I was shooting.

Recoil feels no worse to me than my glock 26 and my Kahr CM9 is snappier next to it.

I tended to pull to the left a couple inches on double taps but I'm sure I can over come that with a few more practice sessions.

No hiccups at all with wwb 90 grain. Didn't fire any hollow point or defense ammo, I'm sure the better ammo would be a little snappier but the revised grip frame of this little guy really soaked up a lot of recoil with the backstrap being wider and spreading out that impact over the palm more.

I've carried it in the pocket holster that it came with since purchase, along with a primary iwb of course since this was a new firearm never shot, just to get a feel for it in my pocket. I can not tell a difference between this one and the last one I had in my pocket. Also I've lost 85lbs since I carried my last lcp and my jeans went from a 40-34 relaxed fit to 34-34 regular fit and this firearm still carried just as comfortably with the same amount of print, any pistol in your pocket is gonna bulge a little but it wasn't a difference enough for me to tell between the originals and this one.

In closing, I'm very very pleased with this purchase, definitely recommended to those that want a shootable polymer pocket pistol!

Ps. The girlfriend shot the lcp II better than my glock 19, S&W 637, and kahr cm9. The only thing she shot better was the cz75, but honestly, who doesn't shoot those like a dream?

Love mine. Truth be told, I have gotten a few stoppages, but they seem to only occur when I use my old lcp mag. The provided one has been flawless.

I did go ahead and upgrade the guide rod to stainless and install a stiffer recoil spring after my first outing.

The gun, as you have said, shoots amazingly well. I picked up the lcp because I have never warmed up to how fragile the Pico firing pin is even though I shoot it very well, and I believe the Pico to be one of the best constructed micro .380s out there. It's actually been regulated to my BUG bag in my truck as my hide away emergency firearm.

Anyway, the lcp shoots circles around it with kissing holes in the paper at 10 yards off hand.

The .380 isn't my preferred round when I can pack more gun, but for summer carry the lcp II is a winner.

I've not picked up any extra mags yet and didn't have any left from the ones before, all rounds were with the mag that came with it. I'm ordering two more of the lcp II mags. I understand the original lcp mags work but will not lock the slide back.

Love my LCP 2. Just as you said, smooth runner and very accurate. My usual EDC is a 1911 but I find myself tossing this in my pocket at times (in a Sticky Holster).

Started to carry my lcp 2 last week, (OWB)
Agree with everything said.
Still waiting for the 7+1 mags to come out.
Think it would help getting my pinky wrapped around the grip.
It being the first auto I've ever bought I love it.

I think my issue is a weak magazine spring or bowed floor plate. The mag I'm using is from 2010. It looks MAYBE like it bows down a bit on the plate. It usually only happens on the last round where I get a failure to feed. So I think either the spring is weak or the plastic has stretched and is not putting enough pressure on the follower. I need to find my spare floor plate that came with the lcp II and see if that fixes the issue next time.

At any rate, I carry mine 6+1 with the new mag and the old mag used as a back up. If it does happen to grab out in a firefight, I'm literally on my last shot and probably toast anyway.

My LCP 11 had failures to extract with SIG ammo. The extractor has less to grab on that ammo. (It should work with all ammo)
Runs federal, perfecta, and one other I tried.
Just picked up some fiocchi I will se how that goes. Looks like there is more of a lip on the brass casing for extractor to grab. I read where a couple other people had problems with the sig ammo.
Regards
Mike

Thanks for the report. 2.5" 5 shot group at 30 yards?? Impressive for a service pistol... almost unbelievable with a tiny pocket rocket.

I'm with you on this one, I don't shoot my LCP much past 15 yards, but I did shoot a rack or 3 of plates at 20 a few weeks ago with a buddies LCPII and it wasn't hard to hit those 8's or 10's. FWIW it's been years since I actually shot a pistol for groups on paper.

I caught a 200lb bass one time, was about seven feet long. Took a few hours to reel it in. :p

Say what you will, my groups are the same with a full size handgun. That was more of the point I was making. I've shot competition for years, handgun hunt exclusively and I'm in no way a braggart, I've just pulled the trigger a few times in my life. All shots were slow fire on uspsa silhouette targets with a 2" shoot and c placed in the center A zone.

No need to explain yourself, was more just making a general joke about this site, if all the stories I've read here were accurate I could field an Olympic shooting team a hundred times over.

Congrats on the new pocket pistol and thanks for the great range report. I still have my LCP, though I've thought about replacing it now and then. Now I have some helpful info if I get closer to taking the plunge. ;)

Neat! How big is it compared to your old LCPs?

The length and height are the same. I don't have an original on hand to compare with in pics but I can say the back strap is a tad wider but it's not the entire grip, if that makes sense. The extra width hasn't made an impact on pocket carry that I can tell, but made huge improvements for me as far as handling goes. Eliminated the "regripping after every shot" for me.

I need to try one I guess. I love the original LCP and shoot it well. I've recently shot a couple Kahr .380s and they are amazing pistols also.

I've been CC an LCP for about 8 years now and when I got my hands on the LCPII I wanted one. But there seemed to be a lot of negative emotion about this gun so I've delayed my purchase. Positive reports like the OP has renewed my desire to buy one because the trigger on the new LCP will better match my other carry gun (G-23).

I like my original LCP, you think the II is that much better?
I carry mine everyday day.

The trigger is much, much better if you like a bladed glock-style. Much easier to shoot quickly/accurately (for me anyway). The one thing you'll probably NOT want to do is put a clip draw on it. It won't fit the new frame anyway. However, while the trigger is heavier for bladed one, i wouldn't trust it to be heavy enough for a clip.

Overall, i do think it is an upgrade on the original.

Just between us.....I don't carry one in the chamber with the techniclip.
I do in my 1911, and sr9c, but not in the lcp on the techniclip.

Hey, I'm not one to ever tell someone how to carry:) I totally understand. I am not of the mindset that an unchambered gun is basically a brick. You can't cock a brick;)

Personally I do. I have fairly large hands so the original lcp trigger had me so fouled up with my grip by the time it went off, I couldn't hold the group where I felt comfortable enough to be able to feel like I could draw and shoot well under stress. The new lcp II, I feel like its more of a natural shooter. I did some up close draw, shoot stepping back, firing two from a one handed, mid extension point shoot and transitioning to my modified weaver while retreating and I couldn't be happier with how well the shots placed, even the point shots. Granted they were 1.5-2 yards but very pleased all around.

If it were in a holster I would have one in the pipe., but not iwb or pocket with an exposed trigger. I have considered one of those kydex trigger covers though.
