First of all i'v never been a member of any forum before so i hope i'm doin this right. I spent several months looking for a shotgun and many searches ended at THR, i'v come to respect the knowledge here. I have started a daily habbit of looking down through the new post every morning. I don't have much time to spend on a computer and don't have much to say so i'll probly not write much. I did buy a used 870 Express from gunbroker.com (great auction site that i found on THR) and my local pawnshop thinks i can make $50-$75 after its cleaned up. I enjoy working with wood and tinkering so i'm thinking about selling it and looking for another cheap one. I do love the gun, put a box through it the day after i got it shotting clay pigons. I grew up with guns in the house and have owned a rifle or pistol of some shape or form since i was 9but this 870 is my first shotgun. I belive in God, that the desire to hunt is a personal preferance, that every law abiding citizen should have the option to own a gun, and that your opion is only as valid as your respect for mine. (and thats about all i know i guess:) )

Howdy boys! I am new here from Central, Fl. I have surfed here from time to time, and seemed like a cool forum, and decided to stay a while!

Hello, I guess I've grown up in South Dakota so I've had some sort of a firearm around me ever sense I can remember. I really enjoy shooting long range targets, hunting in the open prairie. oh yea the Prairie Dogs are a lot of fun also. later

I am retired from the Postal Service. I am 63.

All my life I have loved Guns, I am more a buyer than shooter although
I am currently looking for some land to buy or lease to shoot and maybe hunt on. I like to be in the country not in a indoor shooting range. I read the post about the glock and the Sig238. I rentened a Glock 45 ACP once to see how it felt to fire. It was fifthy and jammed once out of 50 rounds of ball ammo. I consider the Glock a dangerous weapon with no safty at all in my opion. I owned a lot of guns but not one Glock.

It was interesting to read about the Sig. 238 or " Rainbow " because
I bought one about 10 days ago. I checked my serial number and it"s ok. Very good info. to some of you that have never seen or held one, I think it is the most beautiful gun I have ever seen and feels great in your hand.

A few days ago I bought a mini 30 not knowing about the fact that you are stuck with a 5 round magazine. I can't beleive Ruger does not offer a high capacity one and Pro. Mag is no good. This is a good place to pick info
and I am glad to be a member.

At the minute i own a Beretta 92FS, Colt 1911 government model 70 and a remington 870. I dont get to shoot that often as id like but am looking to change that soon!

Any way just wanted to say a friendly hello to all you guys :p

Howdy

This forum has already helped me out so it seems fitting to try to give back. I've been shooting for recreation for over 50 years. In that time I've had a lot of fun and made many mistakes but I still have my eyes and limbs so I may be able to pass something on to others.

Checkin in from Sunny Southern Arizona.I am a 61 year old Mechanic and reload for everything I pull a trigger on. Handguns, Rifles and Shotguns. Since it is only me in the house now (widowed) I have a "Man Cave" gun room s.etup where I can do all my work.

I have gotten into P-dog shooting in Mt,Wy and SD in the last few years. I also shoot trap twice a month or more if I can. My 27 yo daughter always shoots with me too.

Hi all! I am sure glad I found this site. I have been shooting for years, but have several guns that no longer worked, and there isn't a gunsmith in my area. At least none that I would take older guns to. Anyhow, I found out what was wrong with my H&R 929 6", and where to get the parts, as well as parts for another semi-auto pistol I have. As for me, I usually shoot black powder now, especially my Lyman plains pistol that I built from kit form about 10 years ago. It is .54 cal. and a real blast to shoot. My family also loves to shoot trap. We are also into camping and fishing.

Proper hello

Raised on anti propaganda in CA; started seeing the contradictions about 15 years ago; metamorphosis not yet complete: open carry just made sense to me within the last month; NRA membership likely to follow. I am here to drink deeply. Put 400-500 rounds of .45 ball through a 1911 in April. Got the wife to an NRA course in October where she got to shoot a KelTec P3AT and a couple of revolvers. She sees the light and is ready to pursue self-defense be it armed or unarmed. 1st handgun purchase will come as soon as we have some $$$. Training will be the next outlay. Looking forward to shooting with my wife, mom, dad, FIL, MIL. In the distant future, shooting with my kids ... wait, is 13mos too young to start 'em out?

New to this game :) Which gun Savage vs. Howa .308

Hello all you seasond vetrians!!

Yes I am female wanting to learn to hunt my own game. I am looking at a .308 howa or .308 Savage. I like these for the shorter stock and I have small hands so they feel the best to me. I can also find ammo for this cal. Of these two which would be the most accurate for both long and short ranges. I've shot quite a few rifles thanks to my father. 2012 is right around the corner and it will be nice to be prepared :) I like the accu triger of the savage. I like the smooth feel of the Howa. What do you experienced hunters think?

I have been following the various threads for several months now; find them very interesting and informative. Originally from the Ozarks; expatriated to the High Sierras. Into shooting (since I first picked up a Rem 512); into hunting (ever since I learned to use the Rem 512 I eventually inherited from my Grandfather) and into reloading (ever since I learned I could reload / load ammo as capable or better than I could buy. Always believed I pretty much had everything down pat with reloading the various calibers I possess; however, I have learned several things from reading the posts of several of you, especially the special tricks and practices at the reloading bench.

Another new member. I'm not new to firearms, just new here. :) I am retired Navy and I have more firearms than some, less than others. I also handload and at one point I did some casting as well.
