hello all at THR, i am a new member from east texas, i am a handgun fanatic, but currently i only own 3. S&W model 10-5 .38 spl, M&P .40 and a baby eagle .45. My next purchase was suppose to be a shotgun to go turkey hunting in Mississippi, but i just put money down on a ruger super blackhawk .44 7 1/2" hunters special with a bisely grip. Every time i go to the gun shop i try to look at shotguns but wind up with a pistol in my hand, anyways maybe one day i will venture down the roads of shotguns and rifles, but in the mean time wanted to say hi and glad to find a place to share my enthusaism of firearms

Hi!

I live in Canada near the Vermont border. My interests are handgun shooting (Glock,Browning Sig and H&K) + Trap (Browning Citori) + bow shooting and hunting!... a lot of things as you can see. I am interested in legal questions (as a lawyer myself for the Quebec government's workmen's compensation board)

BigL, AP, and Pierre welcome to THR!

@BigL - Swing on by and share your handgun knowledge with us in any of the three handgun sub-forums. Over in the shotguns forum you'll find a wealth of knowledge from Moderator Dave McCraken, and many seaoned veteran members. The stickies up top are full of good info.

@APWINNER - We'll go easy on ya, and if anyone is too hard on you let a Mod know; THR is here for shooters of all experience levels to learn and teach one another. It's great to hear that you're taking your son to the range and that you're getting your CCW. For more S&W Sigma thoughts take a look at this recent thread http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=259392.

@Pierre - Great to see yet another international THR member. Many US members here are interested in gun laws around the world, particularly in our neighboring countries to the north & south. No doubt it will be great to hear about Canadian gun law from someone who works within the legal system there. The Legal & Political sub-forum should provide you plenty of stimulating conversation on the legal side of things. Of course the shotguns and handguns sub-forums will cater to those interests of yours, and if you scroll down a bit further you'll find the hunting sub-forum.

Again welcome to THR folks, and let us know what we can do to make your stay here more enjoyable.

Another new guy

Hello to everybody
I'm Bill, currently living in central Arkansas with my wife and three of our five kids. I retired from the USAF in '93 and have been kinda between jobs since '03. I started my military career in the US Army. Three years as Armored Recon in 1st platoon, G Troop 2/3 ACR. It was a trip shooting all the big guns cannons, missiles, Ma Duece, m-60, 16s, and fun/highly dangerous stuff. Looking back, I'm thankful there were no wars going on. 3rd ACR was one of the first units in to flatten Saddem's sandbox in Desert shield/Dersert Storm just a few years later. After the Army, I didn't so much as handle a weapon for thirteen years.

Anyway, one day I bought a Winchester 9422, and then inherited Dad's Ruger P-85, and then I bought a S&W 629 Classic, and after that a Ruger Mark II, and in September last year a NIB SIG P220R. That's when I began hanging around gun forums. There's so much to learn about guns or just about anything else I can think of. Good people and good discussion with the inevitable flare-ups (credit Pink Floyd, modified). It's facinating (credit Mr. Spock) that I always learn something when I visit this site, SIG Forum, Glock Talk, PDO, NRA/ILA and others.

Thanks to the creators, owners, and mod's for providing this place and to all the members for sharing your knowledge and experience with each other and with us newbies.

Bill

Hello all. My primary interest is historical fencing, but I can't resist any form of martial arts, or any weapons, firearms being only the latest and greatest. I have none at the moment, due to lack of money, and living in CA. Even worse, my next residence may be in NYC :uhoh:

New to THR.org, not to the life

Hello all, I'm pretty much from all over the western U.S. I was just drawn to this and several other forum sites by the recent Jim Zumbo screw-up, and am glad I got introduced to all of you!
I am a self confessed gun nut since my earliest childhood and it appears to have come honestly with me looking at my ancestors.
I love shooting at all levels, plinking, serious target competition, hunting, defensive competitions, anything that includes a gun of any style. My passion seems to be for semi-autos as that is what I mostly own, from a very low serial number Rem 740 in .30-06, to my 1100s, to my newest pride and joy-- a Benelli Super Black Eagle II ComforTech--my first BLACK shotgun. For handgunning I prefer a .40 Glock or my Ruger .357 or even the old High Standard .22 target pistol. (still a tack driver) I have had occasion to develop experience with an M-16 and opportunity, in the same vein, to play with an AK-47 some as well as an UZI.
I am passionate about Long Range shooting, whether target, hunting or more serious application. The uninformed anti gun people better hope they never succeed in really irritating our legitimate, law-abiding, gun owning population for to many of us defending our country's constitution and freedom is more important than kneeling before their foolish legislation.

I do swap hunting opportunities with others from different areas, so if you are interested, drop me a note.

New

Hi. I'm interested in pistols, rifles and pretty much all guns. I like shooting gophers and hunting deer and am interested in target shooting as well.

Hello everyone.

I am from southeastern Alabama. I enjoy target shooting with military surplus. Also I enjoy learning about military history from the American Civil War to the present day.

My main items are of WW2, both American and German, and post war German. I don't consider myself an expert, but I look forward to helping out on anything I can.

Persently I am collecting Bundeswehr items and on my first post a member steered me right to where I needed to go.

Not much else, except I am old and can't half see, and shoot mostly by sense of smell.

New guy from Cincinnati

Hi, new guy here. i'm a 43 yr old, married father of 2. My son is almost 16, my daughter almost 7. 20yr cop, Sgt. for the last 7. I live and work in a busy northern suburb of Cincinnati. I've been a "gun nut" forever. Only own one or two at a time, but have owned about 25 over the years. Currently I am issued a Beretta 92FS 9mm, carry a Sig P225 off duty (as soon as it comes back from the custom work). I have a .30cal M1 carbine that I dressed up with a Choate folding stock, my only black rifle as such. Enough for now, more with future posts.

New

Hi everyone, i've been surfing your forum for a few days picking up as much info as i could on pistols. I'm 24 years old and have never owned a firearm. I've always wanted to, but my family has never owned guns. I'm trying to research as much info as a can so i purchase the firearm i want and can use properly. I also plan to get my ccl to exercise my rights as a citizen. I appreciate forums like this and hope to learn a lot of information.

another new guy

Hello,
I am a 28 year old meteorologist in the USAF. I have been into guns since my grandfather bought me my first .22 single shot rifle. I still shoot it on occasion. Currently, my collection is kind of sad:
junk
.22 single shot rifle mentioned above
.25 Auto forgot the brand but it's junk
.32 Auto CZ-50 also kind of junky
nice
.32 (not .38) Colt Detective Special revolver pre 1966 blue
.357 Mag. S&W Combat Magnum Model 586 nickel with a 6" barrel- all stock

My plan over the next few years is to beef up my collection and upgrade my .357 with a new barrel, etc. I hope to get some help from you guys on this.

Hi folks. Just like it says, I'm bensdad. I'm a gun nut. got a dozen or so assorted rifles, a dozen or so assorted shotguns and four handguns. Came to firearms late in life (I'm now 40) so adding to the family as fast as my modest income will allow.

I read the thread on the puke ray. Laughed my butt off... had to join. You guys are too funny. Over on TFL, I'm "robc", but that was taken here. Hope I can keep it strait. You got cooler smilies.:what:

You got cooler smilies.:what:
Finally, someone who appreciates our smilies. :)

I agree. Creative smilie use is an art.
(Even if some of the more fuddy duddy adults :p
may frown on their use. Just ignore them. )

(Not to mention creative use of bold, underline, italics, [strike]strike through[/strike], fonts, colors and sizes.

Here are the THR smilies, rearranged slightly but significantly from their order on the Smilies bar:

:) ;) :D   :neener:  :what:  :uhoh: :scrutiny: :( :fire: :cuss: :banghead: :barf: :p

The permutations are endless.

Welcome everyone.

define " new" .....

just joined the group - yesterday , I think. My friends think of me as a crusty old fart interested in nearly any sort of projectile weapon and a few psychological ones (grin). Alcohol, tobacco and firearms are all wonderfully fulfilling hobbies. Shakespeare said " ...brevity is the soul of wit..." so with that in mind "nuff said. See you round the forums

Just signed up on here after many years of random lurking. I live in the Atlanta area and I own/have owned several guns including Glocks, HKs, Sigs, etc. My current stable includes an HK USP .40f, an HK USC .45 carbine, and 3 AR15 builds that are under construction. I also have plans to pick up some NFA toys within the next 6 months. I've signed up on THR because I'm concerned about trends in legislation and what can be done to protect the second amendment.

Trying to get back into it...

Hi all. New here, but not really new to guns, just trying to get back into it. Reader's digest version: Got into shooting about 15 years ago, right out of college. My first boss, God bless him, got me hooked as he was a certifiable gun nut (in the good sense :) ). I ended up buying a S&W 586 (first love and still my favorite) and later a Glock 22. Boss also got me into reloading on his Lee single stage equipment, and I was hooked.

Marriage, kids, and the unfortunate (gun) suicide of a good friend got me out of the sport for some time, and I finally sold everything I had. Later, I managed to talk the wife into (me) getting a Remington 870 20ga right before Y2K for a SHTF gun. I've kept it but haven't fired a round since before Y2K.

A buddy of mine who has never shot a gun in his life recently expressed interest in getting his first firearm, after moving out in the country. That's what's got me inspired to take it up again. I'll get him hooked like my old boss did me and go from there. I'm looking forward to getting into reloading again, this time with my own stuff. I see a lever gun on the horizon too.

Hi all I am glad I found the Forum and can't wait to weigh in on the discussions. I have been a shooter for many years and had a CCW permit for over 30 years. As for now I carry a Kimber TLE 2 and could not be happier for it ..Look forward to spending many hours reading others thoughts and views.

Nice site you have here and full of healthy minded Americans. Polite and intelligent makes for a good place to check in daily.

I have a handfull of passions and a few *cough* firearms.

In time we will get to know each other.

I'm sure I can find a few things of interest to share.

See y'all around!

Hello all!

I am an outdoorsy pacific northwester! I joined the forum several months ago but am still new.

My absolute favorite gun is the .44 magnum. It is a stronghold in history and a classic round! I can't wait to visit Alaska again (or to move up there would be a dream!) and go backpacking with my baby at my side... i don't mind the extra weight because i know it is worth it. Anyway, that's all I got. Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself.

I greatly appreciate people who believe in individual rights - this forum gives me hope that not everyone is trying to vote away our freedom! Thank you to those who started it and God bless you!
