Hello members of The High Road.

I have read many threads here over the years as I have posed firearms questions to the Internet which have inevitably led me here. Most always, my various inquiries have been answered (and more) by members here.

Not sure why I had yet to join, but last night I finally got off my duff and signed up.

I am in my early 50’s and I grew up (Middle Tennessee) around firearms. That said, I am by no means an expert on them. My father drilled firearm safety into me from a very young age, I’m a good enough shot to drag game out of the field and I know how to field strip and clean my modest collection of rifles, shotguns and pistols.

Apologies for rambling :) Happy to be here with my fellow supporters of our 2nd Amendment.

Welcome, OleBuckshot! We are just a bunch of folks like you that enjoy firearms, shooting targets and game, and shooting the bull sometimes. Glad to have you on board and we look forward to benefiting from your experience. Thank you for the introduction, and we hope you continue to find answers here.

Hello all name is Jim I live in South East North Carolina.

Have owned and shot a lot of guns in my years. But just recently got the AR building bug. Just finished a build and ready for my next. Having a lot of fun with it.

Used to hunt but don't anymore. Mainly target shoot and practice. Doesn't hurt I have a little bit of land in the country and can shoot in my backyard.

I like to pick guitar and shoot. Hence my profile picture.

Looking forward to participating in the forum!!

Hello Flatiron252 and welcome! Careful, Black Rifle Disease (BRD) can be a long haul, as the configurations and components are nearly endless. It's great that you have some land to shoot on. Many of us are transitioning out of the blood sports and into the quiet enjoyment of targets and plinking, instruction and developing loads our guns like. We hope you enjoy your time here. Thanks for the intro.

Jon here in West Sacramento, CA. I'm actually more of an airgun guy, I do airgun repairs and have an airgun related youtube channel (NorthWestAirgun). I shoot PB mainly for deer and pigs. Getting older, I find that I don't enjoy shooting guns with harsh recoil. So recently took the barreling class at Lassen College, and found it to be satisfying and enjoyable to build an accurate hunting rifle with moderate recoil (6.5mm cm on Rem 700 action). Now I'm thinking that all my rifles need to be blueprinted and fitted with better quality barrels. Also thinking about reloading, since ammo is so hard to get now, especially the lead-free we use here in Cali. I'm looking forward to cruising the forum and learning more about this stuff.

Jon, welcome to the zoo! We have all kinds of interests and a section on pellet guns that I am sure could use your wisdom! We try not to be a tool for marketing, but if your contribution to the knowledge base is is valuable, there should be some mutual benefit. Discretion is always appreciated.
I enjoy air guns and have a lot to learn, so will check out your channel. Whether compressed air or combustion powered, there is always a quest for improvement. Thanks for the intro and I hope you enjoy your time with us.

Hello from Idaho! Born and raised around firearms and hunting. I really appreciated the welcome message with the tips for new gun owners. I came seeking advice on a specific issue, and I feel I might stay for the community. Anyway, I have a lot of shooting experience and experience in training new shooters. I have been hand loading for a little bit and come in search of knowledge in the subject.

I look forward to meeting everyone! Thanks!

Welcome, RowdyReid! This is a good place to learn from the experience of others, and we'll be pleased to add your knowledge to the mix. Be careful, it might be tough on the shooting budget! I will recommend a quick swing through the THR primer in the gun discussion section, then you are off and running. Thanks for the intro, and enjoy!

First post here, looking forward to learning more about some of my recent acquisitions.

Picked up a 1979 Winchester Model 94 30-30 as my first lever gun. I'm a first generation gun enthusiast so this site will be very helpful I believe!

Welcome aboard, RGS88! Congratulations on your classic lever gun. Those are handy and carry the romance of the old west, but that solid butt plate can beat you up a bit too. I hope we will be able to supply a bit of information that may be useful.

Many of us grew up in settings where shooting was common, so we tend to take a lot for granted. Please don't be afraid to ask, and you will find that members love to help new shooters.

Greetings from SW Ok.

Stumbled in, thought I would see what was happening.
I am a hunter, fisherman, cowboy action shooter, reloader, small rancher, horseman, Hunter Education Instructor, woodworker, 65yo about to retire, Papa to 12 and be a GreatPapa in Jan. Don't know what else I can tell ya. Just ask

We can always use another seedy character! I have been called that a time or two, in fact. We are delighted that you are joining up, and we hope to learn from your experience. Above all, you and folks like you will help define this community, and we would rather be known as a bunch of doers than a bunch of whiners. Welcome aboard and thank you for the introduction.

Stumbled in here looking for info about reloading 9mm with red dot. Place looks awesome!!! My name is John. I hale from the Midwest. Im a recently single dad with a two year old little girl that loves being outdoors and is learning about guns and gun safety very quickly.
New to the reloading game. Big fan of the sig 365 and 320. Love the time honored 1911. Shoot a Benelli 12 guage, a sig 365 is my carry choice, and my rifle of choice is currently a family custom build chambered in the historical but forgotten 250-3000 savage.

Welcome, JmacD! We like it here and we hope you will too. Check out the THR primer in the general gun discussion section, then browse to your heart's content. Thanks for the intro and carry on!

Hi my name is mike c , new at reloading, where do I post questions about reloading, yes and a new member. thanks

Welcome, Mike! The reloading section is the 21st from the top. You should be able to find something helpful there, but I don't think it's a comprehensive "how to" program. It would probably be a good idea to start with a good reloading manual. I hope you enjoy your time with us.

Hello from Nevada! I’m in the middle of building back up after about 20 years of only having 1 pistol due to had times. My uncle passed in July so my search got more important on getting answers on a few guns. Everyone here has been so supportive and helpful! It’s awesome . Thank you all!
