Hello! I'm a new member here, I believe I came across this forum by researching suppressing an M1 carbine.

Is there a general discussion forum for off topic posts?

What exactly is THR for? I'm a member of several forums outside of this as well.

Thank you!

THR is a community of shooting and gun enthusiasts who share experience, information and warnings. It is narrowly focused on firearms, so there are no general sections and folks are invited to have those conversations in forums that are set up for that.

Thanks for your interest, and you are welcome to participate if we can help.

I was asked to post in the new member forum, but couldn't find it. Anyways, I hail from northern Illinois...that's right...Illinois...don't be mean to me. Haha. Son of a long time lawman and farmer. Not into big guns, just pistols and small caliber rifles (which bides well for me regarding recent Illinois law.)

Thanks for having me here, and hopefully can be of use to someone instead of just being the guys who asks for help all the time.

Hello,
It looks like I stopped by sometime ago I‘m sure I didn’t post a greeting then so here I am now.
I stop in from time to time to look around, I’m recently retired so I’m sure I’ll be stopping by more often.
I‘m a lifelong hunter, been reloading for 30 years and do some hg shooting competitions from time to time.

Thank you for the introduction, 1nighttrain! We hope you find news you can use. We do have hunting and competition sections, and the THR primer is there if you need to make sense of it all! Enjoy!

My apologies. I've posted a couple of things and didn't appreciate the etiquette. I'm from the UK, specifically England. I'm a Police officer approaching retirement, a career Detective, and I find firearms interesting mainly due to my love of history. I have a fondness for shooting but am slightly hampered by the fact that I usually couldn't hit the water if I was in a canoe. Still ...

Hope to learn from you guys and maybe help out with my own 2 cents from time to time.

Welcome Mr Creosote! I have enjoyed reading your observations. It is good for us to see from different perspectives. I hope you will enjoy your interaction with our little community. If some of the abbreviations are puzzling, there is a glossary in the THR primer section in general gun discussions.

Welcome aboard, @KC8RXQ ! We are a unique community focused on firearms and determined to maintain higher standards than commonly encountered on line these days. Thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself. I hope you enjoy your time with us. I will recommend perusing the THR primer in the general gun discussions area, to get an idea of how we roll and some of the alphabet soup/terminology that you may encounter.

We are happy to add you to our merry band.
