Which specific thread is that and where can I find it?
The THR primer is found in the sticky threads atop the general gun discussions section. It helps people to understand our methods of operation and values, and that in turn helps the information flow more efficiently.

Thanks for asking!

Welcome, Dr. Dingus. Your avatar and board name make it difficult to take you seriously, but I suppose that was your intent. We try not to discriminate against clowns, and I am sure we will get on fine unless you do something to give clowns a bad name. Please read the THR primer thread in general gun discussions sticky section, and I hope you will feel at home here.

Any relation to Mr. Glock Trigger Dingus?

Seriously though, welcome aboard. We all wish we had more space and disposable income to accommodate our hobby.

P.S. Your avatar scares me.
No relation! Lol. It's nice to finally find a board that has actually been helpful! And yeah, that is true, but I am lucky enough to have a great number of weapons I never thought I would ever have the pleasure of owning.

P.S. It scares me too sometimes.

That indeed was the point. But I must assure you I am very serious, and I am professional in the way I carry myself. You won't have to worry about me, friend.

Been a long, long time lurker. Thought I’d join up. Been shooting since the 1960’s. Own Browning, Colt, Smith and Wesson, Sig, Ruger, Norinco, Henry, Kahr, Glock, H&R, Mossberg, Taurus and Hi-Point. I’m not a gun snob. Mostly handguns. Been collecting J-Frames lately. Married, grown children, three grandsons. Member of a few other sites. Just wanted to say hello. Thanks for having me. Hello everyone:

The truth is that I know almost nothing about firearms, but I am very interested in knowing. I write about real crimes (most of them unsolved) and I would like to have your opinion on some topics. There are tons of experience with firearms in this forum.

Welcome to the group, JaviTorre! We come from many different backgrounds near and far, and some of us have quite a bit more experience and tradition with firearms than others. Most are happy to share what they know and to learn from others, so we enjoy each other's company. We are somewhat unique in asking that participants be respectful of others and eschew the acrimony that seems common in other special interest groups on line. The THR primer thread in the sticky note section of General Gun Discussions illustrates our MO. We hope you enjoy your time with us.

Hello.
As a new member (thanks!) I thought it'd be good to introduce myself.
I'm a retired fellow, looking to have some fun with simpler firearms of calibers that have always been of interest. Because of ammunition cost, I plan to set up a small but effective reloading system. Everything I do and buy will be cheap, as thats the way I established a cottage business of gristmilling. As a lifelong firearm owner, I have put my gun interest on the back burner a number of times, but having more time now and less outside interests, I'm back. And wow have things changed. New calibers, different manufacturers and materials, different marketing. Things moved slower in the 1970's for sure.
My most recent purchase is a Rossi R95, and lurking here counseled me on that, so thanks. I live in a rural community in Virginia, and like to collaborate with others. I may post some questions that seem simple to any experts out there, so I ask your patience in advance.
Cheers.

simple, inexpensive and fun (re?)introduction to firearms says 22lr to me. obviously no reloading, but i wonder if laying in a stash of excellent cci 22lr ammo would be easier and cheaper than getting into reloading for centerfire ammo.

cannot go wrong with mating ruger and rimfire…10/22 rifle, sr22 pistol, super wrangler single-action revolver are my suggestions.
