Hey everybody, my name is Bruce and I'm a 29 year old graduate student in Music at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. I've grown up around firearms, and my father is in law enforcement, so his policy was to educate me to ensure safety around weapons. He's a wheel gun man and it's rubbed off on me.

I've been shooting on the family farm since I was 6 with my first BB gun, to shotguns and rifles.

As you can see by my user name, I found this forum when I was searching for info on my Christmas present, a S&W Model 19-5. I've already gotten great info so far, and it's nice to have this resource available.

My friends in music tend to get flustered when I mention that I am a firearm enthusiast, and that I disagree with Godzillary being elected president. I think we have to band together if we want to maintain our rights, in a society that's becoming more and more like sheep every year.

Hello everyone

New member here

Greetings and happy new year to all. I have been a lurker for a month or so, figured it was time to get my feet wet. I'm a older middle age guy, have been a shooter all my life. I belong to 2 local gun clubs and shoot every weekend (when honey do's permit). I am presently into .22 100 yd. shooting. We set up shot shells and brass at the 100 yd. berm and punch holes through them, great fun. I am also an avid pistol shooter and reloader. I have been out of shooting for 5 years or so but am back into it all the way.

Howdy yall.

Texas has arrived. Im Jeremy and I live in Houston. Im 27yrs old and have been actively shooting for about 2 or 3yrs now. I am currently shooting a Taurus .38 special Ultralite as well as a Taurus Raging Bull in .44 Magnum. I still consider myself new to the range. So please bear with me as I will try not to ask many stupid questions.

Another ol' North Carolina boy saying hi to ya'll. Hope you get all the guns on your list this year. I'm looking for a couple to add to my rotation. I'm a member of the Asheville Rifle and Pistol Club, which isn't much of a rifle club anymore because of the damn lawyers. But I digress. Looking forward to some good conversation.

Hello eh?

Another Canadian hoser here. I was recommended to this site by TheDisturbed1, a buddy of mine.

He told me that this is the place to talk to intelligent people with questions on entering the gun world. More or less, I've had some minor experience with shooting, but as of my 18th birthday next month would like to get license and start shooting actively. Please be patient with what some seasoned gun folks might consider DUMB questions.

If I screw up that badly, lemme know and I'll grab my coat and head on outta your all place here.

No worries, man... I was in your position once before :D

We got a friendly bunch here. Trust me ;)

Wow.
Found this site by accident when looking for plans for an action wrench. I'm 45 and have been around guns all my life. I am a Toolmaker at a GM plant. I own military rifles, small bores, centerfire, shotguns, revolvers and am a fan of the old slab side. Have been an NRA member since I was 17 and currently am a Endowment member. I have 4 children from 22 - 10.

I bought a Rem 700 ADL today that a hunting buddy ran over with his 4 wheeler during elk season and bent the barrel. My 10 year old son needed a deer rifle to hunt in KY next fall and we are going to build him one together from this 700 action. If anyone has an old wood 700 LA ADL or BDL stock that they would like to get rid of I'm in the market for one. Doesn't have to be in good shape since we have to cut it down and refinish it anyway.

Great site I will be back.:)

New here. Been lurking for a few months and decided to join. My only toys for now are a glock 19 and a savage 10fcp.

Hi. Im 22 and very new in the gun world. I already feel a favoritism towards compact handguns. Im hoping to buy a Hungarian PA 63 or a Bersa as my first gun. Very different from the first gun I shot which was a Mosin Nagant.

Im hoping to use this forum as a way to learn more about guns and the people who enjoy them.

I'm quite new to the forum process. I've grown up around guns. I started shooting when I was little tyke in my grandpa's backyard. I always found my self on forums when I had a question or topic of interest and a computer was near by. I had a question and needed to sign up to ask. I know I've got so much more brewing in my head. Can't wait to hear the answers.

Hi, just joined from Texas. I have two Rugers, a Blackhawk .357 and P89 9mm as well as a JC Higgins (Sears Mfg.) .22 revolver. Lifelong shooter. Team 'um right when they're young and when they are older they won't put out an eye, or kill their best friend with an "unloaded gun."

Hey, I'm new to the forum. I found you via an internet search for Springfield XD information. I'm an old fart from the Heartland, Oklahoma. Great forum by the way! I have an old J.C. Higgins 12GA Pump "era 1952", Remington 1100 20Ga, and a Springfield XD45 4" Service Model. 200+ rounds through the XD without a single problem. Taking the CCW class and test next month.

A little about myself.
I am 72 years old and live in Minn. I started hand loading in my early teens,
did a lot of shooting and built some nice guns, a 22-250, 220 Swift, 25-06
and a few others. In the 60's one could order a 98 Mauser with matching nos.
out of the gun catolog for $14.99, I would get my stock blanks fron Herters,
black walnut, $4.99. In those days the Monte-Carlo stocks and the full floating barrels were the in thing.
Then I went into service, met a great gal in Ga. married, came back home
started raising a family, been married 47 years.
I didn't do much shooting or loading after that, all my shooting buddies were
gone, traded some of my guns for junk stuff ( very stupid move) been kicking myself since.
Still have all my loading stuff, am going to get into handgun loading and shooting, have a Ruger Blackhawk 357 mag, thinking about a Ruger GP 100
or Taurus 66 for my next piece.
And want to get a compact also, thinking of a Glock 26 9mm as I am going to be taking an extended motorcycle trip this summer.
Take care, Floydster

Another new member here, great forum. Been shooting/hunting for a long time and have collected somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 guns, been reloading for about 4 years now and am in the process of collecting casting equipment which I hope to take up this spring when the weather gets nicer.

Other than my two sons here are my favorite hunting buddies.

Safety at home

Hi all. My name is Tom. I am active Army, and grew up shooting rifles, .22, 30-06, etc. I have also done some handgun shooting. I recently decided that I wanted to buy a handgun (I don't have any guns of my own right now). I am having difficulty convincing my wife of the necessity and the merit of owning a hangun. One of her major concerns is having a handgun in the house with small children (5 1/2 & 3, both boys). Aside from the usal arguments of teaching them and providing a secure location for the gun, soes anyone have any suggestions on how to argue the point? Thanks

Hi everyone, my name is Gary and I am from Houston, TX. I grew up hunting and continue to do so today. It has been well over 40 years since I took my first buck and the thrill of the hunt is still there. As most people know Houston has experience an increase in crime over the last few years and personal protection is becoming a concern to ever day citizens. I recently ordered a Taurus 410/45LC and found some very well posted responses to the question of whether 45+P ammo could be used in this gun. I appreciate any forum where knowledgeable people take the time to help and I am glad to be part of it.

Hello to everybody from Massachusetts.

I've been shooting for about 10 years and have been a lurker of The High Road (and of the 642 Club in particular :)) for more than six months.

Looks to be a wonderful place for sharing information, experience and opinions, and I am glad to finally be a part of it.
