They used to call 99octane Ethyl, short for tetra-ethyl lead compound added. Now you would just be called Premium! Anyway, we are glad to have you join us in these interesting times, and hope you get the answers you seek. :D

Yep. That's where the nickname comes from. Just "a little" motorhead besides gun enthusiast. ;)
First car I ever drove was an Alfa Romeo Alfetta ;)

Hello all, hailing from the great state of Louisiana. Been lurking around for awhile and decided to put down roots with THR.
I have been into guns all my life and supporting our rights and have now started down the reloading path. I hope to learn from the long time members and maybe even help others in return.
On a side note, I am also a Browncoat, Rebel Alliance, Star Fleet kind of guy.

Yep on my 5th version. Something about an engine that becomes smoother at high rev's is fun. Hoping that some where somehow Mazda can release another RX......

Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!

Retired Army, interests are hunting, fishing and firearms. At 85 I'm ready to let the first to go and reduce the number of guns in the safes. Politics occupies much of my time and not at all happy about the recent presidential election, No, I'm not a Republican, I'm a little L libertarian.
Working on my first marriage which we started 60 years ago. Anyway, glad to be here. PICT0036.JPG

Welcome to the forum, CSM Kersh. You will find many kindred spirits here, but politics are such a divisive force that we like to keep the focus on guns and shooting. We hope you find some information that may be helpful and look forward to your benefitting from your experience.

Been here on Mother Earth a good while and been involved in shooting all my life. Younger years I used hunt and fish a good deal. I have four by passes and can't breath very well now a days. I still get up to the indoor range some and crack off a few rounds. Thanks for letting me come on board...

Glad to have you sign on, 4Baldy. You should be a good addition to the lifetimes of experience our other members share. The THR primer in the general gun discussion section may help with terms and acronyms. It's a pretty friendly bunch, but many of us are tiring of the political stuff. Make yourself at home!

Hello, everyone!

New member here from Alabama. I go by Russell or Russ. I am a lifelong gun enthusiast. I grew up shooting with my dad and grandpa from an early age, starting with BB Guns and .22s, moving up to shotguns and revolvers after that, and eventually learning to shoot my dad's AR. My dad was in the Army for 25 years, and my grandpa and great grandpa were both in the Navy for many years. So, I was taught how to shoot properly at an early age.

Growing up, I developed a love for military type firearms. I have never really been that interested in older school wooden stock hunting guns, but I have owned a few.

Now, my gun collection is more of what people consider "Gucci Guns," with lots of modifications done to them. I will be posting pictures on here of my main guns. Growing up shooting, I fully understand that attachments and accessories are not what makes a shooter, but that didn't stop me from liking having "cool" guns.

I look forward to talking to all of the more experienced shooters and people here. I've been looking for a cool gun forum to join for quite a while now, one that didn't seem as complicated to use as some of the others.

Thanks for letting me join!

- Russ

Welcome to the forum, VTC. We share an interest in guns and the shooting sports, as well as a variety of associated activities. There are many different flavors of guns, and you will connect with others of similar interest. Enjoy!

Thank you, sir! I have no doubts I will thoroughly enjoy this forum. I was part of a forum a few years back that I really enjoyed, but it shut down. So, I've been looking around for a new one for a while. Seems to be a good environment here.

Will be shut down.

I just read about that in another post. I think I agree with them, though. Most people who post to that, as they so eloquently put it, the "Mall Ninjas", focus more on the fantasy than the actual guns. Sounds like I'll keep that one for a different forum.

Thanks for the heads up!

I’m new here. Just came across this site while googling gun stuff. Growing up I shot a Benjamin air rifle (still works) and a .22 Marlin which still works fine. I remember as a kid thinking the .22 was so powerful lol.

Ive always liked guns but only in the past 6 months have I expanded my arsenal beyond that pellet gun and .22. I have two 9mm pistols, a 12ga Winchester, a Savage Axis .308, and an AR-10 I just got this week.

My next gun will be a Walther Q5 bc they look so damn good even though I have zero need for another handgun.

Hello, Name is Arthur.
Been shooting for about 25 years since a young age.
A few things ive learned are:
-Theres always more to learn.
-Theres always someone who can shoot faster or more accurate than me.
-A lot of information I was given via "here-say" from back in the day turned out to be BAD INFORMATION!

Arthur, welcome to our corner of the net. Our moderators work hard to maintain a good signal-to-noise ratio, but those who enjoy the sound of their own voice will always be present. After awhile, you can evaluate sources and learn to key in on good information. Folks here tend to be civil and helpful, but longer threads can sometimes wander into the weeds. Use what you can and feel free to disregard unfounded proclamations, recycled urban myths and thinly veiled ads. Check out the THR primer to get a sense of our outlooks and third rails.

Hello,

I live in Southern California and temporarily retired from law enforcement. I fish, hunt, shoot, and reload most of my hunting ammo. I am a strong supporter of our 2nd Amendment, our nation’s Constitution, and liberty.

Welcome, detrio. We are glad you checked in and hope you enjoy the community. You will find less bluster and more solid information than in many other online groups, but they all have personalities so I hope we will be a good fit for you.

Welcome aboard. It's good to see shooters new and old finding us and joining up. Everyone has something to offer and they should be able to gain useful knowledge from others. The key here is mutual respect and civility, to help the flow of information. Enjoy!

Hi All, I'm new here. Started lurking a bit a month or so ago. At this point in my life, I'm a single issue 2A voter, NRA Life Member, and likely soon to be full bore activist. Been shooting all my life, but certainly am no 'expert' in the way many here are. Grew up in central Texas, and am now relocated to NE Colorado (where we are still resisting the CA influx). Pleased to be here and meet you all. Seems like a great place. :)
