If you hit the 3 lines at the top of the page to the right of "Media", the names of members are listed in order of total posts. There is a search box and you could try that. I don't have much experience with it, but might be worth a try.

I'm now in Texas
That's become common, and we are getting a lot of really good people.
You'll know you have acculturated when you automatically translate miles into hours driving, and keep a running tally of comparative distances in your head. Like Dallas to Shreveport is the same as KC to STL or the like. Or that LA to El Paso is 60 miles shorter than El Paso to Beaumont.

Welcome, Amber! We are delighted to hear from someone who is not discouraged by the current climate, who departs from the standard "gray man" image of gun board denizens, and who has some enthusiasm for the sport. Most of us are big rimfire fans, but there is a wide variety of experience and we love to encourage those who may not have had the benefit of growing up on the farm or 50 years ago. Thank you for the introduction and I hope you can benefit from the knowledge base we have built up over the years.

Hi guys ,

Thank you for the introduction, Paul. I hope you find useful information here. There is a vast wealth of experience and the usual whinging and references to "the good old days". Your experiences and different vantage point help to make us a better representation of the people who see guns as the useful tools they are. There are also sections on airguns, edged tools and a variety of special interests. Enjoy!

New account and name for an old member (I forgot my password....it's been a few years) Hope to gain some knowledge and help think up new ways for us to enjoy our collective way of life.

Welcome back, Tinker's_Dam. We are always glad to be found again! Some new faces, plenty of grizzled ones, all enjoying each other's company and developing new knowledge every day. I hope we can help you, and that your experience can help us.

New member - just joined today. I am a completely new member as I haven't been a lurker. Let's see, in my 20's ... about 40 years ago. There's many firearm genres I follow - all of them older. Antiques or at least curio and relic status. I like old lever rifles a lot - most the vintage brands - main ones as well as more obscure brands. I also like vintage bolt action rifles and have had an affinity for Ross rifles.

Welcome, Ross SDS. You have much in common with many of our members. I am sure your knowledge and experience will be helpful to others, and you may learn a thing or two yourself. Enjoy!

Rust Collector - thank you for the welcome. I am confident there is much to learn from others here. I find that appealing. I also enjoy sharing my experiences.

Hey fellows. My name is Steve...Aka Blues1. Very happy to be here! Got way too many toys, but still not enough. Lots of knowledge here, I see. I've owned all of my life. Always willing to learn more. I've gained an education just by lurking...glad now to be a member!

Welcome aboard, Steve! There's a wealth of information here and we're glad to have the benefit of your experience added. Make yourself at home and try to be patient with us :D

Just an old guy in CA. Punch holes in paper and ring some steel with my .38 and . 357. Don't hunt any more and use a baseball bat for protection... Too much trouble if you shoot someone in self defense. Load everything I shoot, keeps me off the streets and out of the bars. Like to cruze the forums and learn stuff. .38/.357 wheel guns mostly, pistols and long guns too...

Welcome to the jungle, we got fun and games.... seems like I heard that somewhere at some point. Anyways, there are plenty of us here that really dig into the 38 and 357 guns, and a whole lot of others who appreciate them. I split my love between all things 32 and 38 caliber.

@Curious2 welcome to the forum. I've had my share of wheelguns. Loved them all, mostly shoot bolt action rifles now, but did put 75 rounds through my 5904 Smith yesterday.

Welcome & allow me to put in a plug for the State of Ohio.
In the better parts of the State - Ohio has very readily attainable concealed carry. It's also easy and legal to buy full auto & suppressors & we have no current magazine restrictions.

Best of all, a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2000 square foot house can be had for $250,000.
We welcome all Ex-Pat Californians that want to sell their 600 square foot 2 bedroom Bungalow for 3/4 of a million dollars & move here and enjoy our presently 2nd friendly State.

(in other words, Oh Dear God - please move here and take advantage of the low cost of living before the ones that drove up the prices figure out how nice it is here and move in - ..)

Good for you but...ya gotta get w/i those 30 or so inches before a baseball bat will be any good. And maybe not even then.
Yes. Under Penal Code 198.5 PC, California law follows the legal maxim known as Castle doctrine. This means there is no duty to retreat if a resident confronts an intruder inside his or her own home. Residents are permitted to use force against intruders who break into their homes, or who try to force their way in.

Welcome aboard. You made a good choice by joining this forum because it is not only the most civil forum I have ever been on, but it is also a forum where to you get good advice, learn, and help others learn. It’s great. As for a baseball bat for SD, I would not rely on it. With two bad rotator cuff I would most likely swing bad and break my own shin. So I keep a gun nearby or on 24/7. In PA we have a Castle Doctrine. You can shoot a home invader without even giving a warning, and you have no criminal or civil liability.

Welcome - Most of my lead I sent down range was .38/.357 reloads. I cast my own and gas checked the .357's. Sent them on their way via S&W M19's .Some with a Dan Wesson, and some with a couple of S&W Stainless L-frames. Today I barely shoot anything, but have changed my taste to the .44 Special. Glad to have you aboard and please let us know what you shoot and post pictures if possible.
