Hello everyone... Jennifer here. My husband and I own a shop... kinda. He's a gunsmith, and I'm the smile lol. He hates dealing with people, and is WAY more into rifles than anything else as he is a ULR (Ultra Long Range) competitor... I'm mostly into pistols and carbines, though that could just be a size thing. We both served in the U.S. Army, and thank God I look younger than I am.

Hello all! I’ve read around on this site just never made an account! Always found good info on here. I’ve always had a love for guns ever since I could look at books my first gun was a Rossi youth rifle for hunting with 3 interchangeable barrels. As I aged I got more into other firearms. I inherited about 10 ball and cap revolvers ranging from .36 cal colt navy revolvers to .44 cal army models along with a I.A.B( I believe) sharps in 45/70. When I turned 21 I decided it’s time for a handgun. And as it turns out I have very bad luck with the old ones. My first handgun was a cz-52 that had a broken firing pin so I traded it for another CZ-52 which ended up cracking from the ejection port down to the side clear to the bottom of the slide so, another trade and I ended up with a Citadel 1911A1 cs, which still works. My collection now is the 1911A1 a glock 42 and a beretta M1951 (which still works too) I also had the chance to buy a Nagant revolver that had a bad cylinder spring so it wouldn’t fire, returned, and a Norinco Tokarev in 9mm and 7.62x25 that is currently at the gunsmith with a crack on the breach face right below the firing pin orifice so hopefully something can be done about that (probably not):( I have a M1 carbine and a Yugo M48/52C (which just got back from gunsmith after a 8mm casing slipped in front of the extractor and locked my bolt closed. Either way love guns and love the site a lot of great info. And hopefully have better luck in the future.

Welcome, Jennifer. We understand that some folks are extroverts and some are not. All are welcome, as long as it's not just marketing. We hope you will enjoy the friendship and experience here, and help make the experience better.

Connor, you seem to have good luck in inheriting guns and bad luck in keeping them going. Military styles are supposed to be fairly foolproof, but everything mechanical wears out sooner or later. At least is sounds like you are putting them through their paces! Welcome to THR, and I hope you will enjoy your time with us.

Lol nope, not here to advertise, just chat on boring days. Some old man I know (okay 8 years older, but still old) will sit staring at a lathe with a magnifying glass while he does... something... for like 6hrs at a time. Gets boring, and dear lord did I learn to avoid Gunbroker's forums.

Hello! Great forum! I thought it'd be neighborly to go ahead and post here, before I started asking stupid questions elsewhere. That way, when people see my stupid questions, they can click on my name and see this and understand just how I could be asking such a stupid question.

I've used and been around firearms all my life, but have taken a more active interest in the last two or three years. My interests are mostly around home security, self defense, target shooting, plinking, and history. I currently own my great granddad's Remington Model 1889 double barrel 12-gauge, my dad's 8mm Czech Brno Mauser K98 sporter, a very nice original condition Norinco type 56 SKS, a sweet little Marlin 60, a Pietta Colt 1860 Army .44, and a SCCY .380 for EDC. And a couple of .22 pellet rifles for the backyard range. Very happy to be here! And now, on to the stupid questions!

Thanks for the intro, Strat959! You are welcome to pitch in and ask all the questions you want. Just be ready to sort the responses you get, because we're not at the top of our game at all times. It is a good-natured bunch in general, and your broad experience should be a good fit. You may want to take a run through the THR primer, and I am sure you will pick up the rest as you go. Carry on!

The only stupid question is the one not asked. Welcome aboard.

Hello, I’m hoping this forum is a little less intimidating then some I’ve quit! Passion for hunting turned also to guns. Pistols/rifles in the .45 Colt caliber. reloading, target shooting, and gun history. Also little bit of a prepper nut. Gardening, canning, and food preservation. Love the outdoors! Thanks.

Welcome to THR, Billygoat109. We try not to be too hard on each other here, and that probably distinguishes us from other communities. Your experience and input will be welcome, and we hope you enjoy the experience. The moderators do try to keep us on shooting related tracks, so we don't become like gun shows with tables peddling jerky and knick-knacks :D

Greetings from central and northern New England. Currently reside in CT with my pet boarding and doggie daycare business, own acreage and cabin in Vermont and a cottage in Maine by the coast. Hobbies are hunting of all sorts, shooting of all sorts, canoeing, kayaking, walking in the woods and pedal asset bicycling (turning into an old part lol). Have perused this forum for many years and finally decided to hopefully become a beneficial part of this community.

Outstanding curriculum vitae, edcknives! We are happy to welcome you to the mix. Sounds like you are living the dream, so you may be onto a thing or two of common interest. Thank you for the intro and we look forward to your contribution to the knowledge base.

Glad to have found this forum. I own several guns and am an avid hunter and shooter. However, my father-in-law recently passed away and he was a gunsmith for over sixty years. He also never threw anything away. My wife and I have inherited a massive amount of guns, ammo, gun parts, reloading equipment, and accessories; far more than I could ever use. So, I am trying hard to learn as much as I can in order to make the most of this (learn what to keep, what to sell, etc.). Hopefully, the expertise found on this forum will be of help. Looking forward to learning.

BluSky72, we are sorry to hear of the loss of your father-in-law. A shop full of parts and tools can be overwhelming, but demand is currently heavy for guns, parts and ammunition. Keep any guns that you shared an interest in, and any that showed his artistry. The rest are tools which, if you are not likely to use, can make others happy and produce some revenue for other projects. A trusted local gun shop can help, as can Sarco or other guns parts sources. We are glad you found us and wish you luck in your mission.

Pleased to meet you, BRatigan! There is a lot going on here and our members define us. Please be kind and pitch in where you can be of assistance. You may learn a few things too. Thanks for the introduction and I hope you enjoy yourself among kindred spirits here.
Same sentiment and glad to help in any way

From Texas, recent LTC and beginning my collection. Leaning towards .32 revolvers at this time.
Welcome aboard, LEP! I see a number of meanings for LTC and I'm guessing you don't mean long-term care. Please help me out!

Once .32 revolvers roamed the earth, but I don't see nearly as many in recent years. The newer versions don't seem to sell in large numbers, but make a lot more sense with high velocity and well designed bullets. I hope you can find some good information in the general handgun and revolver section. Enjoy!

Hi. New guy, retired, vet, firearms/sharp steel enthusiast. Lots of great info/folk here. Thanks for the goodness you help make happen
Howdy HiRd2d! Glad you found us. Many of us are old enough to know better but smart enough to stay out of the way. There is a lot of experience here, aided by the enthusiasm of younger shooters and those who have just discovered the joy of shooting (and sharp things). I hope you will enjoy your time here, and thank you for the introduction.
