Spurgenasty, we are happy that you decided to pitch in. There is a lot of wisdom and experience here, and we enjoy learning from each other. It is good to have new members to broaden the demographic and to make us more representative of the wide world out there. All we ask is patience and respect for each other, and we'll get by with a little help from our friends. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Hey High Road members. I am an Army vet and retired USG. I am big into upland hunting with my GSP and hunt all over California and parts of Arizona. Have also hunted Hogs in west Tx. I have a small collection of handguns, shotties, and rifles like most of you... I enjoy rock hounding when I am hunting, reading history books about the west, native american history and mountain men. I also like making knives from old files and tool steel. Somewhat well travelled. I'm kind of a foodie and my drink of choice is red wine. Found out about THR on another forum. I look forward to reading all posts and learning more and contributing when I can.

Welcome to the zoo, Masaca1! Sounds like you should be right at home here. There's a bunch of experience, a bit of wisdom, and we try to control the blather. You might check out the THR primer in the general gun discussion section, and don't be afraid to ask questions. We hope you enjoy your stay, and thanks for the intro.

Thanks for the add. Read some stuff off of THR quite often when Googleing all kinds of stuff. Just seemed to be drawn to it! I live in Pa with my wife ,our dogs and tortoises. I like handguns, shotguns, rifles, flintlock ,Clay pigeon shooting and hunting. I started getting I to reloading last few months. Shotshell and metallic. I try to help others best I can. We are all in this together.

I've been posting here for a week or two, I posted a quick intro in my first post of the rifle section, and I just found this section!
I'm currently living in Wichita Kansas, retired from the graphic arts industry (printing press operator mostly, but I've done pre-press and bindery), married, only been shooting firearms for around 7 years or so.
I played bass in dozens of classic rock, blues & country bands for many many years. Not so much anymore.
I've only been shooting since 2015 when I inherited my dad's Colt .38 Special Officer's Model Target. Decided I wasn't going to be "one of those dipwads" who own & shoot with no training so I went broke taking classes at Insight Firearms Training in Prescott Valley AZ where we lived at the time. That sent me on my current path - training training training.
I own 2 Glock 19's, 2 Glock 17's, 2 Glock 43's, 1 Glock 34, 2 AR-15's and a Mossberg 12 gauge.
Love this forum. Hoping to learn as much as you guys can tolerate my endless questions.

Welcome to THR, Nipty. Thank you for the introduction and helping us to know more about your background. We seem to be on the same channel, as we all hope to get by with a little help from our friends. The more like you we have, the better for all of us. Enjoy!

Wichta5003, we are delighted that you found us, and it sounds like you know how to make a Glock rock! People like me gripe about Glocks, but that's just because we can't make them work the way you can. Keep shooting, and thanks in advance for helping others to do a good job!

Thanks, rust collector. I'm glad I found this forum - it's a friendly place to hang out and talk about firearms. My thing is learning, training & practicing. I've broken way from being strictly a "Glock guy" by acquiring & gaining some skills with other firearms, but I guess at my core I rely on Glocks for specific reasons. My main reason is that I carry a weapon all day, every day (just look at the world) so I don't need a fancy Gucci pistol - I need reliability. I feel that Glock has that. I went with 9mm early on because of ammo availability & prices (things have sure changed, but 9mm is still a good choice for me). Accuracy? I still can't out-shoot a Glock barrel. The triggers are not ideal, but I'm used to them and I control the firearm with my grip. For my EDC's, I keep my Glocks stock, except for the sights and maybe a minus-connector instead of the OEM connector. The reason is what can happen in a court trial if I have to defend myself with a tricked-out fancy pistol. There's no such thing as a hair-trigger, but prosecutors will sell that idea to a jury (who usually know nothing about guns). Lastly, if the SHTF scenario happens, and I'm scrambling to survive and I can't find a weapon.... when I find one, it will probably be a Glock.

Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!
Hello, I am a retired Navy Pilot and retired Financial Planner, and an avid gun collector and love target shooting. I used to be an avid hunter but due to old age physical problems I am unable to hunt anymore. I have a WWII gun collection, and I have another collection of shooters both handguns and long guns. I am looking forward to your forums and discussions.

Hello Skytrainco, and welcome! Wasn't the Douglas skytrain a WWII vintage DC-3? So would Boeing have picked up Douglas along with McDonnell some years ago? Regardless, you sound like you belong here and we are delighted that you are joining up. There are many of us who now realize what a physical sport hunting was. We still have many fond memories, and the more the merrier. Thank you for the introduction and I hope you will make yourself at home.

Hello from Oklahoma. I tend acquire old broken .22s and get them back into working order. I have a collection of 1940s-1970s rimfires from the likes of Savage, Marlin, Remington and more. I also have some larger caliber stuff and just recently built my first AR-15 in an A2 style. I just recently got a Pieper-Bayard Boys rifle with a patent date of 1919 that I'm looking for more info on.

Welcome catt57! We love 22 rimfires, and making old ones work again is a noble calling. Good luck on the boys rifle, and be sure to let us know what you did and how it turned out. We probably should have a 22 rf section, but Rimfire Central has been the hub for that information in the past. Thanks for checking in.

Welcome, 65panhed. I assume the handle relates to a classic motorcycle? Anyway, we are pleased that you emerged from the lurker locker and will join in the fun. We like to provide resources for people who enjoy the shooting sports, and as I am sure you have noted, we try to be civil in our discussion. We hope you enjoy the ride here as well as on the blacktop.

Thanks for accepting me. I’m just an old Cajun dude that enjoys shooting and reloading. I seem to always find myself on this sight when looking up load data and such. So I figured I’d just sign on up.

Welcome to the zoo, Apocalypse Now. As you have seen, we have much in common but are spread all over the country, so bring we each bring a little of our local outlook to the mix. Glad to have you on board, and glad to add your unique perspective.

Hi all. New to this forum, live in New Mexico and have been around or using most all types of firearms for at least 50 years. Yup, I'm an old timer........
I have owned and been shooting everything from flintlocks all the way up to modern firearms. Was looking for a site that discusses them all and not limited to just one type or another.

Good evening, and welcome to THR! Glad to have you with us regardless of how many hours are on the meter. We like to offer a bit of peace and quiet on the web, and we have a good amount of experience among all of us. Thank you for the introduction and I hope you enjoy the atmosphere.

Most folks call me Lee, I born in GA but lived most of my life in Coastal NC. My first loves are flying and hunting. I did Vietnam with the Marines and when I got out was an Atlanta Police for a couple of years and a Dekalb Firefighter for a few more. When I finished my degree I went back in the Marines after the fire department and retired. Then went to work for DOD and retired again. I presently spend time in the Philippines and the swamps of coastal NC. I mostly hunt Deer, Black Bear and Hogs...I love to mess around with obscure calibers and try out new ones [ to me ]. Im almost completely computer ignorant so please cut me some slack in that department..Glad to be here.
