Hi folks,
My nane is Ray and I live in west central Georgia. I am retired military and now work as the range planner on post. I still have the first gun my granddady gave me, a Iver Johnson single barrel 410. I presently own over a100 guns. Mostly long arms. I like projects so a lot of my guns were basket cases but I keep looking for parts and working on them. I look forward to being part of the family.

Howdy, my first post here...

Howdy guys, I was given a link to your forum by Bill W in a recient E-mail, I am not even sure what his user name might be on here, anyway I will kinda hang out & lurk from time to time, I am allready quite active on several other hunting/shooting forums. I am a Life Member of the NAHC. I harvested my first moose on my 14th birthday back in 1971 and continue to be an avid hunter. I live in northwestern Alberta, Canada in Grande Prairie, which is 70 miles south east of mile "0" of the Alaska Hwy located in Dawson Creek B.C., if you have traveled north to Alaska by road odds are you have passed trough Grande Prairie. I am into Single Shot Rifles & Lever Action Rifles as well as Revolvers & Auto Pistols. My favorite game is Moose, Elk, Whitetail Deer & Black Bear closely followed by Muley Deer, Coyote & Wolf.

18 year old Irish guy, never fired a gun, closest I've been to some sort of gun was the one o clock gun in edinburgh castle which for any one who doesnt know what I'm talking about is just some piece of artillery that fires off into the ocean every day at one o clock.

But yeah... I joined this site since I think its better than the other forums since some of them are just packed with nut cases who ask "is it safe to bring a gun into the shower" and I'm pretty sure not all yanks are like that.

Hope to learn stuff about guns and make friends who I can meet up with when I go to the US in a few years with my gf since going to a gun shooting club is on my list of things to do.

Hi folks, New guy here, been on TFL a while, been shootin since I was 9 or 10. Not very knowlageable on any part of this sport. But I do know which end to hold and which end to avoid and that's kept me out of jails and hospitals for 40 some years. I'm glad to talk to so many people who do have knowlage and are willing to share it though. Because I have questions!

I've been lurking here for a few weeks and just recently posted for the first time.

My name is David, and I live in West Michigan. I've been frequenting other forums for a couple years not and recently bought a Saiga, which led me to here. On other forums I go by ghostrider, but that name was taken already on this board.

My interest are in God, the USC, and in line skating when the weather is right. I am a minor knife collector who focuses mainly on Spyderco's with an affinity for hawkbills. Another hobby that I find consuming it tying things with paracord (mainly lanyards and fobs).

I'm hoping to gain a lot of knowledge here and eventually become a contributing member. Seems like a great place.

Hello Group;
I'm proud to be a new member of THR! I have lived for years within 10 minutes of a military Rod and Gun Club here in West Texas. I'm a vet and salute ALL vets. High regards also for law enforcement and emergency response people.
I spent years ignoring the 2nd Amendment. My right side is slow due to an accident years ago. But when I saw John Kerry hunting geese in late 2004, I decided that it was time to re-arm the household, before Amendment Number 2 went out the window. I purchased a Taurus 38 Special snubby, and began shooting lefty at the gun club. What a pleasure!
I have other pistols now, and have purchased an AR 15 by Olympic Arms. (I can shoot a long gun right handed if it has a pistol grip.) I'm a much happier camper these days, now an NRA life member, TX State Rifle Assoc. member, and am realigning to sporting activities.
I'm nobody special, but have that blessed citizenship which guarantees me RKBA. My first gun was an Ithaca single shot 12 gauge that my dad got me for Christmas back in the day. Born and raised in Upstate New York.
Thanks for having me in.

Not a newbie by any means

My name is Jim. I've been a member of the gun culture for over 35 years. You name any firearm produced since 1900 and I've either owned it, shot it, or fixed it for someone else. I LOVE MA DEUCE...

Due to my age - 53, going on 100 some days - I have started to pare down my hobbies. I recently sold my Harely that I owned for fifteen years and I was a member of the motorcycle culture for forty years. I recently sold all my camera equipment ($10k worth - 35mm Nikon F5 and medium format Pentax 6x7) when I decided I was no longer going to be a freelance photojournalist (paid and published) anymore.

My firearms collection is small, compared to what it used to be. Three years ago, I decided 'less is more' and I dropped down to three weapons. Then Katrina hit NO and my wife asked 'how IS our arsenal these days' and I had to admit it had 'some holes'. So I went out and picked up a few more. Plus several cases of ammo. I also reload, though not as much as I used to.

I'm an opinionated cuss. I call a spade a spade (actually an F'ing shovel). But it's what makes me a good gunsmith (according to my clients). My user name came about from a joke amoung several of my gunsmithing buddies.

I have a degree in computers (1981) and a degree in gunsmithing (1998). I believe in KIP (knowledge is power).

Besides firearms, I know four other subjects backwards and forwards.

1) Cars & trucks
2) Motorcycles (no longer ride)
3) Computers (20 years in the field - retired)
4) Dogs (we rescue)

So, while I do bite, it's generally just a nibble at first. If that don't scare ya off, then fly me a kite (old biker term for email or letter) and I'll be happy to help if I can with info. I've been thrown off of several forums (THL comes to mind) BECAUSE of my attitude. I call BS whenever I see it. AND sometimes I just can't help but explain chapter and verse as to WHY I CALL BS.

My health has been up and down in the past three years which gave me great insight into life itself and is WHY I decided 'less is more'.

My user name on the web is normally Wallew. It was my Nom de plume (name I write under) for fifteen years. If you see Wallew on some forum, it's me.

I am the moderator on Stacey David's new forum called 'Gearheadz'. If you like cars or trucks, come on over an sit a spell. Mr. David will return to TV on ESPN2 come March 07 and will 'flog the wee' out of Sgt Rock once it's been completed.

another newbie

Hello all,
My name is Dave and I moved from upstate ny to virginia in 8/06. Was very pleased to find out that VA is a "shall issue" state for ccw. I applied for my permit in early october and had permit in hand 3 weeks to the day that i applied for it. My weapon of choice is a Springfield .45XD. Found this site by trying to find out a little more about the pagerpal holster i ordered back in november but have yet to recieve. Cancelled that and on another member's recomendation ordered a Smartcarry holster. Look forward to being a member of THR.:)

herro

Hey gang,
I'm from the Blue Ridge mountains of VA. I've enjoyed shooting Dad's rifles and shotguns on the family farm, but I've never owned a weapon myself. Looks like it's time to change that as I just got married and we're about to buy our first home - I've got more to protect than ever. My inner macho man needs a gun too because my wife is in the army and knows more about them than I do. She got to spend some left over ammo with an XM8 after a study at Aberdeen Proving Ground - she's a badass. Full autos are a bit much for me at this stage of the game - I'm looking at small revolvers . I have a buddy with a strong family connection to Ruger so I'm leaning toward an SP101. I've been drawn to the functionality of revolvers since I was a kid, but I know jack about handguns. I'll probably keep quiet for a while as I have a lot to learn here. Just wanted to say hi. Looks like a great forum.

Howdy Ya'll

I'm new here but like what I see so far. Everyone seems friendly enough and what I have read seems like everyone is trying to be helpful. I have enjoyed guns since my Dad got me a single shot .22 when I was 9. I have a few guns that are my favorites and like cowboy shooting. I shoot IDPA every now and then just for fun (too old to get as serious as I should). Kind of nice to find a place with gun nuts like myself. And by nuts I mean collectors and safety minded handlers. I hope to benefit and help others here if I can.

NOOBIE

Like to shoot anything that goes bang, bang, bang. Love my AK's and Glock. Last aquisition was a Seventies S&W Model 19 6" . I demand firepower and reliabilty in my firearms. I've been "lurking" for a while, but no more.

Glad to be here

Hello all,
My name is Scot and I live in SW Ohio. I am a 47 year old electrician. I have been around guns most of my life and appreciate the comradery they bring, as well as shooting them.

Thanks for a great web site
Scot

Hello from North Delaware. My name is Steve I'm 30 years old. I'm not exmilitary or law enforcement I just grew up watching alot of war movies:) which I believe fueled my interest in firearms. I actually come from a very liberal anti gun back ground:uhoh: I have never hunted either but would like to some day.

I have bounced around a few forums but never post very much in any. With my work schedule and my typeing skills I have allways been on the fringe.

I started off with Curio & Relics and my interests have branched out from there.
