Not brand new, but fairly new. I live in Oklahoma on Lake Tenkiller. I have interests in handgunning and target shooting. I am an aquintance of CT_Donath, who is the bastage that got me started with guns about 9 years ago back when we both living in the Soviet Republic of New York and he lured me into this addiction with a G17, Colt AR-15, and Steyr Scout. Evil, Evil man. Within the next week I owned a Ruger 10/22 which I still own. Now for the list...

Ruger 10/22 .22lr
Para P-14 .45ACP
SA XD Subcompact 9mm
Makarov 9mm MAK
Para Warthog .45ACP
Walther P22 .22lr
Ruger MkI .22lr
H&K USP Compact 9mm
Taurus 85 .38 Special
S&W 642 .38 Special
Sig P226 Equinox .40 S&W
Kimber Custom Target II .45ACP
Mossberg 500 Slug Gun 12 Gauge
Bushmaster M4A3 5.56
GP-WASR 10 7.62x39
Kar98k 8mm Mauser
M38 Mosin-Nagant 7.62x54R

I am addicted. Thanks alot CT-Donath!!! :D

I am a complete newbie to these forums. I know the forum software really well

I needed to get some information from people who have used the two handguns that I own and decided to join the discussions here.

I have two Taurus Auto's
PT 1911 > less than a week old
PT145 Millenium Pro > My CCW weapon (that is whenever those people in Austin send me mine) I am on day 60 today, they are slow as $ > hit!

Nice site and I hope to get really involved here as my knowlodge continues to improve on weapons

Regards,
Mike
Dallas, Texas

I'm a somewhat new member here. Haven't been on any gun boards since rec.guns or talk.politics.guns in the early 90's.

I'm mostly interested in trap shooting and handguns. I have a few rifles, but don't shoot them much - not sure why. Looking at trying IDPA or CAS someday.

Other interests include custom knives, hiking, and travel. I've done some travel through Europe, but am focusing mostly on car trips throughout the western United States right now. I've been trying to stay in every "great" National Park lodge in the country.

Hello

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum and gonna do a quick intro. My name is Ron and I'm originally from Saskatchewan but have moved to Alberta with work. This looks like a great forum and am lookling forward to contributing the odd post and absorbing all kinds of good info.

I am a new member, just joined a few days ago.

A friend of mine bought a subcompact 9" and is a CCW holder and took me to the range about 2 weeks ago.

I was hooked and am currently waiting for my background check (MD) to complete for my very own .45.

I am very interested in the law aspect of gun ownership and I can see that my own personal beliefs and thoughts about law in general seemed to be mimicked well here, so I think THR is a good fit.

Anyway, just have been reading like mad and learning so far!

new member... and I've seen the light!

been lurking 'bout a month, but wanted to let you know that you can convert an anti-gun lib (the previous me) to a firearms-loving, 2nd-amendment defending, NRA-joining, ccw permitted citizen I am today.

what happened? in college i was one of those "why does anyone need an assault gun... vote for clinton!" "who needs cop killer bullets, ban 'em" you know the type.

since then i've moved to a part of the country that embraces the gun culture and our lawmakers stand up for our 2a rights. plus, made friends with a marine, ex-leo who showed me the light. took me shooting. taught me about gun laws, personal defense, and all the fun tech stuff.

i now have a small arsenal at home and can't stop buying guns! when my daughter is a little older, she'll be joining me at the range. and in my downtime, i like to read forums on THR.

keep up the good work!

Greetings,

Great site; compliments to the moderators. I probably won't post much, just chime in with the occasional hackneyed opinion. I am a firearms enthusiast who believes the RKBA is a fundamental civil right. I reload much of what I shoot, not necessarily to build a superior cartridge but because it's a contemplative activity, another way to connect with shooting, and of course to save dollars on ammunition. Sometimes I open my safe just to admire the contents. Most of the firearms in that safe were put there by my father so it helps connect with him as well. I also hunt blacktail deer but in my case I think the hunters gene skipped a generation. In the years that I draw an antlerless permit there is venison; the rest of the time beef, it's what's for dinner.

Hi from a new member. Name is Van, retired Ironworker, I have helped to build bridges, powerhouses and storyjobs all over these United States and loved every minute of it, had a great time and worked with some great people. I have been around and owned guns most of my life and for the last 30 years or so have had a CHL. If I have my pants on I'm packing. I have several long guns and one shotgun, a Mossburg 500 with a legal 18" barrel that just feels good to have around. I have several pistols and revolvers. I do quite a bit of target shooting, seeing how close I can group. I am not a hunter, I figure those critters have enough problems without me messing with them. I'd rather put holes in paper. But thats just me....VOW

My name is Matt and im from and still live in SOCAL. Thinking about moving just cause of the gun laws in California.

Hoosier

Hey everyone, brand new member as of today. Found the site by surfing the web for info on handguns. (which led to my purchase of my first handgun, an XD 45 ACP Bi-tone) Love it. The info I found from all the members here was priceless.
Applied for CC permit at the same time as I feel it's the responsible thing to do. Been an NRA member for 3 years and support their mission whole-heartedly. I appreciate firearms for hunting, home protection, and, admittedly, cause I like to blow stuff up. Good to meet you all.

Howdy,

I'm new here so I'll introduce myself. I'm comanche55. And yes I am a full blood Comanche from Texas. My Uncle is the current Tribal Chairman of the Comanche Nation in Lawton OK. So, I guess I have an interesting perspective on guns and gun control. My people were just about wiped out and driven from Texas before Quanah Parker finally made peace. I will not give up my guns willingly for anyone. I love this country and fought for it during the Viet Nam War, but will stand against any form of government that tries to take my guns.

LadyDesertRat

I really just enjoy reading the threads on THR. I love to go out and plink a bit with my boyfriend also. My first gun was a .357 and it is still my favorite.

Howdy! My name is Mike, Ive been married for 15 wonderful years and have 2 beautiful daughters. I grew up with a family that always hunted and fished so thats how I was raised. I was borned in the Country(Cleveland Tx.)till the 4th grade then My Mom Moved us kids to the City when my Dad died and begin raising 5 kids alone as she needed to be close to her family. My Grandpa and Uncles still took us boys hunting & fishing throughout our childhood then My Mom remarried and my stepfather carried on as he loved to go camping, fishing & hunting too.

Well when I finally got married we moved to Austin(TX Capitol) we stayed there for 7.5yrs and I fished every weekend I could but didn't hunt too much then(City Life).I Finally got tired of that rat race and we moved back home, not 13 miles from where I went to school when in the 4th grade and now live in Cut N Shoot Tx on 10acres of land with a 3acre pond in my backyard and the family owns 87acres just behind the pond that we hunt on. (Heaven)

I own a 1956 Marlin39A,1963 Rem.Nylon 11,1971 REm.552-22LR,1978 Marlin 60 .22,06'Ruger 10/22 Carbine,07 Henry GoldenBoy 22Magnum & a 07' Rem. 597LSS 22LR.Some of these I inherited when Dad & GramPa died.
I also own a H&R "Sportsman" 22LR Revolver,1978 Rem.700 25-06 (Fav for Hunting) and I had a 70's? Winchester 30-30 & Shootgun that I gave my B.I.L 7 years ago after I blew 5 Disc in my neck (4 Serjuries & tore a Rotator Cuff on the Job and could no longer shoot them or anything much bigger then my 25-06 without severe pain.

I want to buy a new hunting Rifle(cause I can) a Savage 116FCSS in 243cal. or a 16FCSS in 270cal both in the Weather Warrior Series.
I've always been a Woody man so I never liked the Synthetic Stocked Rifles much but I really like this Style new Savage and my B.I.L(as a avid gun collector-185-200?) say's Savage has surpassed most of the Big names with their out of the box Accuracy,Acutrigger and their advanced but K.I.S.S design.:D

Anyway! You know my life story now! Sorry for such a long read.
Nice To Meet Yeah!

I suppose I should introduce myself too. Been mostly hanging around the reloading forum. Found myself here a few times while searching for information, which generally seemed quite good, so decided to sign up several months back. Hopefully I can add a tidbit or two.

Hello Everyone ...

I'm Tom and I have a problem. I collect stuff, esp. things that go bang. That aside, I live in Pearland, Tx. which is SE of the Houston area. I collect all kinds of C&R Stuff - mainly rifles - mainly bolt actions rifles. I guess the pride and joy of my collection would be a Swedish M94 that wasn't modified to a 94/14 (no bayonet lug). It's all matching except for the sight slide - :( . I enjoy shooting at paper, if I own it, I shoot it, otherwise, why own it. Anyways, it's good to be here - Take Care - Tom
