hello people

new to this but I am from Canada and seem to need to find info from the states when I am looking, I guess because we live in a police state here as far as guns go. Thats why we have better health care than you Americans because if you are seen with a firearm here they shoot you then take you to jail then to the hospital to plug the holes.Just kinda kidin it is not quite that bad, but almost.
I have a question for someone if you can help I am looking for a better site or scope system for a Browning SA22 so the scope would be nice if it was removable. I know Browning offers the base and rings but $100. American thats about $500. Canadian. Any Ideas?

Hello to all. At 22 years old, I finally purchased my first handgun today. Springfield XD Compact .45 ACP Tactical. I'm planning on putting some rounds through it tomorrow afternoon.

Hi

New to this forum so I thought I would introduce myself. I'm a 19 yr old rifle enthusiast from Pakistan. Lived for some time in the Chicago, IL but now im back in my home country.

My father is a Maj. General in the Pakistani Army, so thats where my love for firearms started.

I currently own an AK-47 and a type 51 TT-33. The AK is Russian and the TT-33 is, umm like an inter-racial gun, lol. jks. Well some of the parts of the TT33 were made in China, the rest including the barrel was made in Pakistan and assembled in Pakistan.

I wanted to learn more about the firearms so I thought id join this forum.

Welcome to The High Road.

Nice hardware selection!

The AK-47 is available here, at least in the semiauto version, for 300 bucks or so. Full auto versions would run 10,000 bucks or so because of our stupid NFA laws.

That TT-33 you have, does it have the add on safety? I have a Romanian version that does, and a Russian version that doesn't.

Glad to have you here.

Thank you people ;)

Yeah I know owning an AK is very difficult in the States. Actually here there is no concept of a Semi-Auto AK47

Tiny here the Russian auto AKs cost around 2000$ MAX, that is if you want the top notch stuff. The locally manufactured auto. AKs cost less than 300$

The TT-33 I own does not have a safety, although I could have it added for less than 2.50 $ :D haha, its very cheap here.

Glad to meet you.

I've always wondered what it would be like to target shoot in places like Pakistan. If not in a city, is this something you can do casually without the police being summoned? If they are, I wonder what kind of reaction they would have towards you and your AK-47.

Also, no offense intended... but I've always been curious if Pakistani markets sell knives that were made in China.

Snowdog, its actually pretty fun to target-shoot here. Some of the shooting ranges here are bigger than villages, hell you could just go in the remote areas and start shooting.

There are paramilitary forces in the remote areas such as Pakistan Army Rangers and Frontier Constabulary

Usually houses here are pretty big, and have big gates which cover your whole house. Even a common man lives in a house that is around 4000 Sq. ft, so you can also pull out a shooting board and start shooting in your front lawn. However, if a neighbor calls the Police, they, the Police will come in and check your license, and if you do have a license they won't do anything but only ask you to do it at a controlled level so the neighbor's do not get bothered.

However, in most big cities, shooting in your lawn would be considered as very uncivilized lol, so people usually goto the shooting ranges or open fields on the country side.

In weaponry, Pakistan has a very big market. I live in the Punjab province so everything is controlled and moderate.

And yes there are Chinese knives, there are American knives, European knives all kinds.

Waddup From Texas :)

I thought id put something other than the typical "Howdy From Texas" that most expect.

Texas aint full of just cowfolk ya know :)

Anyway, ive had my CHL since Oct, so only a few months now.

Been reading the board a while now, but just now decided to register.

Hope to learn from you folks.

God Bless

Hi I'm new. Little background info. I grew up on a farm in Indiana. Moved out on my own to San Diego, then to Los Angeles, and now I live in Santa Clara (Silicon Valley), and in Silina, Kansas. 90% of my time is spend in Santa Clara working for internet companies. I was a republican who has since become a Democrat, however I find I don't align with either parties on many issues. I'd like to think I've have good life experience. I've been a foster kid, lived in two homes, lived poor, and now wealthly. So I feel like I can see issues from both sides, when arguing I always try to put myself in other's shoes. I'm giddy to be here and as a result, I feel like I'm typing like a hick ;-) I'm here to learn and socialize with intelligent people who use weapons.

Hey there, all...

I'm 21, graduating from college at the end of May. I've only gotten into guns, shooting, and hunting in the last few years, and I like them all a lot. I did not grow up with guns as a part of my life. I own a New England 20 gauge single shot shotgun, a Marlin 925M .22 Mag bolt-action rifle, and a Mossberg 935 Magnum 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun. I've enjoyed reading through the discussions here for a while and hope to join in.

Thanks!
Josh

HI

:D Hello, I am new here, even though I responded to the Home Invasion thread. I have spent a lot of time reading the posts. I am so impressed with the generous respect that runs deep here for guns and the many aspects of gun ownership. I am so pleased Nelson133 introduced me to THR. He took me gun shopping yesterday and I bought my first gun. I got a CW9 Kahr. It was used and under $350. It came with 3 magazines total, which I felt was a bonus:) We got this at Gander Mountain. During the paper work I had to chuckle cuz I asked the very serious fellow selling me the gun if he carried. He said sometimes, but figured if he was going someplace he felt he had to carry a gun, he really had no business being there. I found that foolish...but that is just my humble opinion. Maybe he is psychic and knows where and when he might need his weapon.
We went to the range and I shot about 150-200 rounds, I enjoyed my gun, but poor Nelson133 now knows I covet one of his guns dearly *grin*.
I have spent a bit of time today on the computer reading all I can get my hands on about the CW9 Kahr. I am very pleased with my choice. And If I decide to go for a CCW it will be a good gun :) Thanks for the kinds words and suggestions I have recieve from many of you folks.
:D

Another newbie here...........

Hello all........
I am new tonight to THR........Been a regular over at another gun board for five years this month and just bought my first gun, a little "plinker", Walther P-22 last Saturday. (I love that gun!!) I have already had that baby out at the range once and am gonna be in Memphis the end of this month with some other gun owners.......

I have been shooting at some local ranges and was renting guns up until now. Also have shot a few friends' higher caliber guns, like glocks 26 and 19.

I look forward to learning more and more from you all on this board. I will be buying a bigger caliber gun by the time the '08 election rolls around........ ;)

In the mean time, I will be searching for info on Walthers while I am here, and am planning to learn alot from you all......

Cheers all......!!!

I've looked through this forum many times but didn't join until today. I am a LT in the USAF stationed at Randonph AFB. I am a bit of a collector (33 in all). I also enjoy working on guns, I've done some refinishing work and recently finished my first home built AR.

Welcome from a Marine, former firefighter, LEO, and shooter. Retired
for some years now, and still attempting to spend more time shooting
what I own. With the time left, most likely won't wear anythying out,
but find spending a lot of time at a loading bench!:D

Howdy folks!

I've lurked here off and on for a few months, decided to register. I'd classify myself as a "shoots paper for fun" guy, and I do NOT get to the range often enough. I have a few handguns and a couple of longarms and I'm happily in the market for a new one. Seeya around...

VERY new!

I am a VERY green newbie here. Just talked with my brother who lives in Austin Texas who recommended this site. Signed up right away.

Are there any other Canadians out there? Anyone from Calgary, Alberta?? I have some questions about where to buy handguns in Calgary after I write my exams to get my license. Drop me a line. Thanks.
