Hi. You guys can just call me Twitch. I'm a constitutionalist and libertarianish. As such, I strong believe in the 2nd Amendment, and I know a whole crap load about it- it's history, the meaning of the words, the interpretations, the evidence, the arguments- I've got it rock solid. I don't know a lot about various firearms, but I've had formal (and very good) instruction and am familiar with the operation of handguns (ie. how to use them), in particular. I've operated several other types of firearms, but I'm no expert in those categories. If anyone is curious, I'm 19. That's it for now, I suppose.

Good morning all, I am a new member and this is my first thread. I have been around guns all of my life, I live in Virginia and am prior military and a proud vet of the first Persian Gulf War. The best thing that has happened to me in the past few months is that my wife and I am expecting a baby boy in the house after 10 years of trying (WOW!). That means that I have a little gun range buddy in a few more years, and I don't have to cut the grass the rest of my life (ha,ha).

I've just begun browsing this forum and have very much enjoyed what I've read thus far.

I am 58 years old; married; with two grown daughters and four grandsons.

I was reared on a farm and served in Virtnam. I was therefore surrounded by guns until I was twenty-one. But for the last thirty seven years I have been basically gunless.

I've become increasingly concerned about the encroachment on our personal freedoms and especially our rights to Keep And Bear Arms. In the last four months I've purchased a 32 acp pistol; a Mossberg 410 shotgun for home defense; and two Henry rifles. I want to enjoy owning these and using them in the next few years. More importantly I hope to leave at least one gun of some type to each of my grandsons when I'm no longer here.

I hope my grandsons learn to appreciate these weapons. And I hope that they'll all learn to resist tyranny, (by peaceful means if possible; and by the use of force if required).

I'm from Texas. I'm a retired LEO. My gun collection is surprisingly more oriented toward hunting & target shooting than tactical weapons. I have mainly leverguns and shotguns, as they are my real interest, but still have one or two guns still around from my LEO days.

Hello, everybody, nice forum, glad to join you.
I used to really enjoy target shooting in the nearby woods or at the range. In the early '80s while in the Denver area, the kids and I watched their Dad shoot trap at the Table Mountain Gun Club.

Visiting recently, I think someone told me it is now part of the State Patrol shooting range. Sad loss to the public, I'm sure, because we all felt like "family" up there.

The name is Ed. I am married with children and working on a farm in Eastern WA. I am new to guns and computers so I spent quite a bit of time lurking and searching the THR archives.
I was raised in a gun free home and didn't get as much trigger time as I would have liked growing up. . One night, I realized the importance of the Second Amendment to freedom in America and my young family’s safety, and I have been trying to make up for lost time since.
The day after my enlightenment, thanks to a wise and fair dealer, I bought an S&W 686+. I also bought myself a used 870 Remington to use during the waiting period. My growing collection also includes; a Glock 34, an S&W 642, two 10/22s, a Ruger 30-06 with VX3 3.5-10and a Bushmaster stripped lower that will be a complete rifle as soon as finances allow.

Great New Orleans Gun Grab

Greetings...I'm a brand new member, introduced to this site by Tom Gresham, an old friend.

I'm a shooting sports writer with a gun column in four major southern outdoor magazines, and live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I'm on here because Tom posted the website of my new book (written with co-author Todd Masson, Executive Editor of Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Mississippi Sportsman magazines) on one of the strings that was talking about New Orleans, and I thought I would offer some information on the book.

The book details the true stories of Patty Konie, Ashton O'Dwyer, and a number of other folks who were brutalized, harassed, and had their guns stolen by the civil authorities in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

We conducted many dozens of interviews for over a year with survivors of that time to get the true story of what happened in New Orleans, and why.
We were driven to do this because it was a story that cried out to be told, and it was ignored by the major media.

Not only will you find what happened to Ms. Konie, and O'Dwyer, you will learn of people who fought gun battles with looters, and one group that shot and killed one.

In addition, the book looks at what happened in New Orleans, and explains what brought on the Gestapo and thug-like tactics of the city, state, and federal law enforcement agencies down there during that time.

We also describe in the final chapter the court battle to get into the storage facility where NOPD had 1,000 guns stored that had been confiscated in the aftermath of Katrina. It took over a year of battles in the federal courts before New Orleans finally acquiesced and allowed access to the guns. I led the team of experts that assisted Baton Rouge attorney Dan Holliday, the NRA/SAF attorney on the ground here who has fought this battle for so long.

On April 18, 2007, we finally gained access and began inventorying the guns with the aim of finding as many owners as possible and reuniting them with their personal firearms. Unfortunately, after a year of misuse and neglect, most are good for the junk pile, and nothing else. This is all detailed in the final chapter of the book, "The Second Battle of New Orleans."

I also wrote of this in the August issue of America's First Freedom, the NRA magazine on firearms politics that goes out to approximatly 1,000,000 subscribers. The link to that article is:

I am an enthusiast of many types of firearms. I am currently the owner of an HK USP Compact .45 with some upgrades, a Benelli M1 Tactical also modified, an S & W 340 CT, and a Remington 700 Police w/decent optics.

I am planning on getting more involved with Class Three stuff assuming funds and paperwork align properly.

I primarily joined this forum to widen my base of knowledge. I need to learn more about ballistics, shooting mechanics, and long range marksmanship. There seems to be a bevy of well informed individuals here so I look forward to learning more.

Hey everyone! Can't believe I didn't know this forum existed until recently. I've spent quite a bit of time reading thru and there is some true expertise here in a very wide field of interest. Hope I can contribute what little I do know to someone's benefit.
Anyway I'm a 44y/o Army Vet with a wife and two teenagers and have been shooting since I was a tyke. I don't hunt but love all other shooting sports. I have a pretty extensive collection by anyone's standard of all types of weapons.
I'm a Field Engineer with GE Energy and view outsourcing as a means for a well deserved early retirement. As luck would have it, no one in India wants my job.
Let's see what else. Oh yeah, this'll get under your skin.....it would appear I'm a Liberal Californian as well. Not sure how it happened. Was cruising along as a Reagan Conservative and one day I wake up and realized I had a soul. Maybe I got it from a hippie, like Lyme Disease or something. Think about that.. a gunloving, flag waving, patriotic, California Liberal! What is this country coming too eh?
Anyway like I said I hope I can contribute somehow, as I've already gained more knowledge in these pages then I can ever hope to repay.
 
well i guess this is hello name is spenser i live in Michigan and i live in take care of my grandmother. she has walking problems and need help going out and getting things stuff like that. I'm Ex-Air Force/Civil Defense i stared with a toy pop gun a 4, a bb gun at ten and now i have a collection that im starting and so far so good i have 7 firearms.

I live in northern Delaware and just (actually, today) finally completed all of the paperwork needed for my CCDW License and went ahead and filed. Looking forward to reading and getting to know you folks.

My name is Eric. I am a county court guard and I was appointed to the position of Constable for my town. I just found the board and figure I might learn a few things on here. I only purchased my first firearm 2 1/2 years ago. I have: a Glock 23, and a Taurus model 92-9mm. I am interested in competition shooting and I hope to get into hunting soon.
 
I'm a college student in Ohio, and although I don't own any guns yet, I'm very interested in the Second Amendment and shooting.

I am a long-time lurker, but I just posted for the first time even though I have been a member for over a year! I am a registered Republican, though I am more Conservative than most Republicans are. I am a member of the NRA and GOA. I am supporting Fred Thompson for President in '08. I run 2 websites: http://parrishmiller.com/ and http://hitbackfirst.com/. The latter is devoted to pro-gun Second Amendment issues. (It is also new, so content is limited but improving.) Hello, just joined this board to establish some central relations since my other forum memberships are gun, brand or caliber related. I go by the username of Freddy-Ruger on berettaforum.net and go by the name of Brigadier everywhere else. Note that I am not the only person out their that goes by the name of Brigadier though.
Anyway, I am located in the peoples republic of California in the Sacramento area and live less then a block from one of the larges gun stores in the Sacramento area.
Though I am mostly in to rifles, it is mostly handguns that I have. My gun collection changes regularly but at the moment, what I have is as follows:

M-1 Carbine in .30 Carbine

Colt Cadet in .22LR

Magnum Research Desert Eagle in .44 Magnum

CZ-52 in 7,62x25 Tokarev

Beretta M-96FS Brigadier Inox in 10mm Auto

A custom 1911 handgun I built in .45ACP

I am also in the process of receiving a Beretta 92FS Inox by PPT. I have a few gun builds on the table as well

Anyway, I am also active in Constitutional politics and an active Ron Paul supporter and MAY be at the Valijo gun show on the 21st with a support group. I work as an author and private contractor and I am trying to start an urban legends and research website.
My other hobbies are swordsmithing, video games, history and science.

Hi folks! my name is Stephen I'm a country boy from central Pennsylvania I grew up around firearms and have always considered them an integral part of everyday life, I like all types of firearms from black powder muzzle loaders to modern military weapons, I'm 22 years old and have just recently enlisted in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer I've been lurking on The high road for a while now and I figured now was a good time register. Newbie to post

Have multiple gun types and gun interests. Mostly modern stuff, dont really delve into collector items. Very rarely post without pics as I usually skip posts without pics. I recently started researching a Ruger SP-101 hammerless .357. Came here and got some really good pics and decided to take the plunge. Here is a pic of the new gun.
