I am from Ellsworth, WI

I enjoy bow, rifle, shotgun, and black powder hunting.

Most of the hunting and fishing I do is within walking distance from my house.

My collection is:

German 8MM Mauser
Czeck Mauser
6.55 Swedish Mauser (1919) all matching
.223 saiga
1147 12 ga
Knight Wolverine Black Powder
TC Icon .243
M1 Garand (my favorite)
a Drenalin Bow

I was an Expert shooter all 10 years of military service. Everything I own is open sight. I am still looking for optics for the .243.

Hey, I'm Jimmy. I fix air conditioners for a living. I like being outside, my family, dogs, cats, fishing, cooking, eating, music of all kinds, my country, and especially time off, which is rare... And I like guns too. I like them for sport, hunting and the comfort of mind I have knowing I am prepared for the worst of situations, should they occur. I believe that this is the greatest country or civilization that has ever occured on earth, and I am proud to be an american. I think motorcycles and fast cars are cool too. :)

I got booted for being "unruly" and then picked this forum

Having looked briefly at the options out there I decided to give this forum a chance.

I love the right to bear arms, a right which you have in the US. I live in south west Florida. I come from Sweden, a leftwing country in Europe, where no one is allowed to carry anything, not even a pocket knife, and self defense is nothing you should get engaged in if you want to stay politically correct. Needles to say, and with their questionable and very short sentenses for criminals, the streets there aren't safe. Here in the US I carry concealed every day because my experience is that there are far too many nuts out there not to, be it the US or Sweden or where ever.

I'm a creative person and I'm currently trying to finish a book on photography I'm writing. I've been at it for three years already. I'm allergic to socialism and communism and stupidity in general.

Here is the gun I typically carry concealed. I like robust things because I tend to wear out things fast.

I've been lurking and learning here for a couple of months. You folks have one of the best two or three forums that I've found. (I hang out at RugerForum.com a lot) So I signed up and am stepping into the light.

My dad taught me firearm safety when I was young, had a Sears .22LR and some kind of Soviet surplus 7.62 bolt action we used to shoot at cans and stuff. Didn't use them for years after I got married and then the soon to be former spouse took them to the Sheriff to be melted down during the Divorce War.

It's years later now, and after spending most of my life saying, 'I really need to get back into shooting' I've taken the plunge. I'm over fifty now, my hairs turning grey, looks like I might not live forever. And they keep passing these damn laws, might not be able to buy fun firearms in a couple of years. So far (since January) I have bought a Ruger KP512 .22 Pistol, Marlin 1894 .357 lever action carbine, Mossberg 500 Persuader, Ruger Blackhawk .357, and a Ruger P89 9mm Pistol. Go to one of the local ranges about once a week. Hoping to figure out where I went shooting as a teenager out in the woods somewhere. (Any tips on finding good shooting spots on National Forest or BLM land in or near Nor Cal? Nevada?)

Kind of like Rugers a lot. :)

My wish list includes:

M1 Garand through the CMP (anyone here have any thoughts or referrals to old threads about dealing with the CMP?)
Ruger Mini14
Colt Python (About the most beautiful gun I've ever seen)
CZ 75 B
Baretta 92
Ruger SemiAuto Carbine (9mm?, .44mag?)
Ruger Single Six .22
Something .44 Magnum (Ruger?)
Something 1911 .45 ACP (Not Ruger)
One of those amazingly cheap MosinNagant Russian Rifles (maybe that's what I used to shoot with my dad?)

Just shooters, No safe queens for me. But I can sure admire some of the collectors guns I've seen online.

So can you all get a feel for who someone is by the firearms he owns or admires?

I have a couple of the AGI Gunsmithing DVDs with Bob Dunlap and purely had a blast taking apart and cleaning the Marlin 1894. There's music in the action of that rifle. Get the feeling that it was leading edge high tech when it was new. Maybe like Apple Computers?

I've been reading everything I can about the Heller decision and am hoping to the heavens that it helps the cause of RKBA. Maybe tomorrow?

Planning to go the Big Reno Gun Show in August.

Thanks for having such a great forum. You all make it what it is you know.

Hello, everyone. I heard about this site on another gun forum I belong to (USA Carry) and decided that I wanted to check it out. You guys have a pretty good site going here. Keep up the good work.

Newbie to the High Road

Hey everybody. Great website, BTW! My name is Steve and I am from the Dallas / Fort Worth area. I have been into guns all of my life, but only recently have I had an 'epiphany' when I picked up a copy of Bostons Gun Bible; absolutely recommended reading for all freedom-loving Americans! It teaches that all men of our land should be able to hit out to 500 yards (meters) consistently. I bought a Mosin Nagant M44 and just recently bought a PTR 91F, which is pretty much an H&K 91. I have been shooting like crazy lately, and I want to achieve the goal of rifleman. Check out www.rwva.org and plan on going to an Appleseed shoot. It is a life changer, trust me. I know handguns are fun, but the rifle is where it is at.

"A handgun is used for shooting your way back to your rifle, which you shouldn't have left behind in the first place." Jeff Cooper (paraphrased)

Thanks

THANKS FOR ALLOWING ME TO BECOME PART OF YOUR GOURP. MY TOOLS ARE THE FOLLOWING MOSSBERG ATR 100 NIGHTRAIN, FA 91 RIFLE, CZ 40 PISTOL, LLAMMA 1911.:banghead: OH YEAH GOT A DAVIS 32 AUTO FIRST FIREARM I PURCHASED YOU LIVE AND LEARN. STILL FIRES

Hello,

Though I've fished all my life, I only recently got in to hunting (aside from one or two outings with my Dad as a boy). Since moving to Seattle, WA from Washington, DC three years ago, I've hooked-up with some guys that take me hunting near Moses Lake, WA. We do mostly duck and pheasant, though we kick up some Quail from time to time as well. A couple of months ago, they took me Turkey hunting. Good folks, good times.

The first season I used my Granddad’s old Remington 1100 20 gauge. It felt good taking my first duck with my Granddad's old gun. But that's not an ideal waterfowl gun of course, so I picked up a Beretta Extrema2 12 gauge last year. I figured I'd keep using my 1100 for upland birds, but I stumbled upon a deal on a Franchi Alcione Field O/U that was too good to refuse.

I took my first deer this past winter at my folk's place in Michigan using buck shot and my Dad's Browning Citori. I'd sure like to do some deer hunting in Washington this year, so I just picked up a Ruger M77R MKII in 6.5x55 SE.

Next on my list are a couple of handguns; a Ruger GP-100 .357 revolver and a Ruger Mark II or Mark III .22LR semi-auto. I've lost about 15 pounds over the last month and a half and if I can loose another 10 I'll reward myself with one of those two.

Long, long down the road might be a varminter in 220 Swift.

Thanks for this great forum.

-Chris

Greener Light mk.2 Harpoon Gun

Hi

I just purchased a Greener Harpoon Gun It requires 38 Blanks for shooting. I'm not sure what powder or how much were in these loads. The gun was produced by Greener in England than later made by Navy Arms and is no longer made. Any help on the cartledge would be appreciated.

My name is John and I am a Cruffler. I like and collect old military arms and due to them having hard to find ammo, I got into reloading.
According to my wife, I have too many guns.
My father-in-law got me into target and trap shooting. We spent many enjoyable days at the range.

Hello,

I am joining the site to get up to speed on the CCH/CCL situation have been thinking about it for a few years now. I also hunt, but not as much lately as I would like! I own a Glock 35 (too big to carry)and have been thinking about getting a G19 or XD9 (I like the EMP as well but dont have 1200 laying around) your thoughts are welcome.
Thanks

Hey All -

New member here, I've been lurking here on and off for quite some time. Trying to dig around for general firearms info. Seems to be a great community!

Doing a tour here in Iraq right now. Still a good place to glean some info for new toys when I get home!

Been lurking for a while....one of the better sites around.

Wife and I are CA transplants to AZ. Moved to escape the encroaching communism.

We are both LEO, and will do our best to provide any info we can on any such topics or questions pertaining to.

Look forward to contributing anyway we can!

Welcome to THR everyone! Come by often.

I want to thank you for your service to our country. Contrary to what the media reports, there are still an abundance of us out here who support your efforts.

Another new guy...

Just signed up last week.. Have not spent much time lurking. I spend a lot of time on motorcycle sites.
I do spend the winter chasing quail all over the midwest. Lucky to have a couple of decent English Setters that do a fair job on quail.
I'm a o/u guy w/ respect to shotguns. No rifles or handguns around here, just not interested.
Always have my eyes & ears open for a nice over & under 20 or 28ga though!!
Seems like a great site!

My name is Rick, I got here while trying to find info on a Stevens 200 rifle to see if I could put the action in a Savage 10 stock. The post I found was probably the most informative info I've found so far on the internet!

I am an operator in a power plant, live in Southern Illinois, I quail hunt and guide, farm, trout fish, love to shoot stuff, and I raise Brittany's. Currently I have 4 Britt's and they all have their unique place in the field but I just don't feel right without my oldest dog, he'll be 7 this August and is just now getting to the point where he and I think alike and I can walk into a field and not say a word and he does it all, I trust his nose more than any dog I have ever hunted over.

Anyway my usename is from the fact that quail and pheasant hunting is my passion, livelihood and true love. My wife may be my bestfriend but she knows that 10 months out of the year my mind is full of feathers.

Hello everyone,

My name is Irving, but you can just call me "MozambiqueTechnique." I am a university student at the University of California, Irvine in Orange County, California. I am currently a public health sciences/chemistry major and I am planning on going to Dental School. I enjoy science, firearms, politics and philosophy.

I have never had to work a day in my life and really don't plan on it. :neener:

I am very much a pistol fanatic and that is primarily where my interests in firearms lie.

As a Californian, I am very familiar with local gun laws and would be more than willing to aid anyone who has not yet become "aware" of the legislature in this socialist state. Being politically active and versed has made me a versatile adversary at the voting booth!

I really appreciate the passion and knowledge of THR members and will look forward to reciprocating the favors!

Keep safe...
