Howdy from Husker Nation

I found this in a google search, looking for info on a Hornady lnlap. I got my Daisy BB gun when I was 9 or 10, started to hunt at 12 with a .22, bought my 1st 12ga. at 13, (my $, Dad did the paperwork), and a 30-06 one yr later At age 15, I was sneaking to the Ikes 25 miles away on my school permit to shoot trap, (and my folks actually approved). That got me to thinking about reloading to get more involved in shooting and save $. It was way cool to get a MEC 600 jr for Christmas at 16. The shooting, hunting, reloading are all self-taught.
Rifles, shotguns, handguns, ml, bowhunt, reloading, and hardly any time.
the Kenworth and the farm take up 99% of my time. I probably won't post much, but will watch on my motoq while trucking.
I pull shipping containers (intermodal, international trade) around the midwest. I am waiting to open the doors on a load from the middle east and the thing blows up. Hopefully it'll never happen. I get home every nite just in time to check the livestock and sleep.

shoot well

On older goat

Just have found such things as forums over the past year or so. A new one every day if you look and most are real interesting. Hunted and fished all my life. Got my first Red Ryder BB gun when I was 5, .22 at 10, and started carrying anything at 11. Shot small bore/indoor in college at the U of Mo.on the varsity and ROTC teams. Mostly the same folks, but one or two that did not go advanced ROTC, me included. I wish we would have had trap and skeet when I was there. I just didn't miss with a shotgun. Killed more pheasants one fall on the farm flying with my .22 than I did with a shotgun. There is a trick you learn.

I shoot some trap and skeet, love trap. Got back into pistol shooting this year and have worked over my Ruger Standard and bought a couple Browning Buck Marks. Carry a S&W Sigma .380 w/CCP. I don't hunt as much as I used to when I lived in Montana and growing up in the midwest. I really miss the duck hunting! Hunted varmits all my life; 2 legged and 4 legged, even 6 & 8 legged ones. Figure that one out :D VH :eek:man:

Newbee here from Mobile, AL. Hence my user name. I like collecting older and newer firearms of all types. I have an 1863 Enfield 58 caliber rifle that was issued to confederate troops. Wonder if that would be considered an assault weapon:confused:

I found THR had lots of information about one of my favorite things to investigate, firearms. I enjoy shooting anything that shoots mostly with friends or by myself at one of Nevada's great junk heap shooting ranges here in northern Nevada. I enjoy the physics and mechanics behind guns and cleaning the cosmoline off of every part of a weapon is just plain fun and a great way to get familiar with it. The feeling of peace I get after shooting many rounds is one of the greatest feelings I have ever felt. :) I believe strongly in the second amendment. I grew up in NY State and fear I can never return because of their unfounded policies on many firearms. The Great State of Nevada feels much more American to me. I would welcome rational discussion between both sides because I feel as though my side is right. I think that most controversial issues in this nation are not discussed rationally and logically by either side. People don't listen and hear, they just yell louder. I spend much time here and find it a valuable resource.

New Today

I was looking around for some solid advice and guidance on taking care of some guns I recently inherited when i found this place and decided to join up.

Hi folks,

Brand new member. I got here from another forum (not gun related, exactly), with a number of other friends with another common interest. Not currently a gun owner, never have been, ever, but am interested in becoming one. I've done a bit of shooting with friends' guns before. At this point, I'm mainly interested in self-protection and target practice. While I've been told by knowledgeable gun owning friends that a revolver would be the best thing for me to get, I'm attracted to a semi-auto pistol, and I think and Heckler and Koch P30 is in my future. But I'm open minded. Plus, with the political winds blowing as they may be, it may be time to get my hands on a private pistol before that becomes impossible. I hope to learn a lot here! Thanks for listening!

Howdy, new member, came across some of the archived thread while looking for some BP information.. read through some posts and would like join in..

Hi. I'm John. I live in Frederick, MD. I found this site after purchasing a Rock Island Armory 1911 in .45 ACP at a gunshow over the weekend. I googled Rock Island Armory to find out a little about them and this site came up. Been doing a little reading and have already learned a lot. As for guns I own, there's a bunch.

Hi All. Lookin to buy my first gun. I'm no stranger to them though. Made rifle expert in the Marines back in the early 80's. Been to several shooting ranges, and rented a few guns, and the one I like the best, and am looking to purchase is the Sig P220R 45 cal. I just love the way it handles.

Hi I'm Doug, I'm 17, and have liked guns since I was about 13, I own my own Rossi .22/20 ga. (Interchangable barrels), good, but getting too small for me. My dad also owns a .357 S&W Revolver, Winchester 30-06, Double-barreled 20 ga, and .22 Marlin. I would say I know more about guns than him though. I mostly joined this site to learn more about hunting and guns. Still haven't gone hunting, but am hopeful to have gone no later than 6 months from now.

From imdb.com:

Benedict's pistol is a Dan Wesson .357 revolver. Most noted for its interchangeable barrels on the same frame, from 2 inches to a whopping 10 inches. Slater carries a Desert Eagle .44 Magnum automatic.

Welcome to all the new members!

Please remember to check the Forum Rules if you they're not fresh in your mind from signing up. We take this civility thing very seriously. Plenty of other gun forums that don't so that is one thing that sets THR apart. Also, take a look around and tale the time to look at the various "stickies" in the forums. Think of them as postings on the bulletin board in different "rooms". They'll provide guidance on anything from THR courtesy to what an Activism post should be.

Remember that we attack the argument and not the person here. Also, any simpleton can attack a group. The only group we attack at THR is devoted gun-prohibitionists. They're minds are made up against us so they're unreachable. The vast majority of folks are not in their ranks and we therefore hope to persuade them to see the lies and deception of these folks that would take away everyone's RKBA. To do this we have to avoid pigeon holing and dumbing down our thinking into name calling and labeling so that great majority of undecideds have a chance to hear the truth instead of being turned off by chest beating and posturing.
