Hello....

.... I just wanted to formally say hello. I actually missed this thread when I first joined.

I was having some issues cleaning my revolver and was getting quite frustrated. I posted the problem and with in minutes I had replies with great suggestions that helped!!

I just put in for my CCW after the all day class and shooting! Now I also have the bug. What is it? Must be something in the gunpowder. ;)

Looks like a great place to come for advice and education.

I've been shooting for 47 years.

Just got back into reloading and purchasing more guns after Obama got elected. Concerned about my ability to buy certain guns in the future.

There's strength in numbers and we all need to do our part.
If you love your second amendment rights, you had better join the NRA.

Love Ruger, Sig Sauer and Glock. Not sure in what order.

brand new, totally clueless but wants to learn

Hi there,

I'm a 30-something mom of two who was raised with hunting, and who is married to an avid sportsmen. I live in northeastern Pennsylvania, and inherited a 243 Savage from my dad. Brand new to interests in guns, but mostly for deer, turkey, pheasant hunting. Love to be outdoors, and yes, I can gut my own fish. :)

I look forward to learning as much as I can about different types of rifles, especially ones that are suitable for a woman.

And yes, I do cling to my religion and guns. ;)

Hello

Great site. Been lurking since 2005 but finally decided to join to learn (got a couple of questions).

I'm a computer geek. Married. 2 labs. I'm not law enforcement nor military. Never been hunting except fishing and crabbing. Picked up a firearm for HD this year at the request of my wife (her side of the family is military) and also to take advantage of the S&W rebate. Range time has been educational as in I suck but have improved greatly. Bad economy and the rising cost of ammo have proven to be a hinderance.

Thx for a very informative site.

New Member

I have been a new member for a couple of weeks now, and have answered a couple of questions. Hope it helped someone.

I am 60 years old, and have been doing some gunsmithing for a number of years on my days off.

I am an avid shooter, won my first rifle match when I was 13, shooting against some 15 and 16 year old boys. I was on the Provost Marshall's Pistol team when in the Army back in the late 60's. I am quite capable with rifle, pistol, revolver, and shotgun.

I am looking to build up some clientele so I can retire in a couple of years and have a little income on the side. At least that is the excuse I give my wife. I really do it because I love it.

I have a fully functional machinist shop in my garage which includes two lathes, one horizontal mill, a Bridgeport, and am working on getting a tool and cutter grinder back together.

My main interest if building and maintaining rifles. I am also interested in finishing firearms, but not with bluing. I have been looking at Dura Cote for this.

My desire is to learn a lot and help a little if I can.

My name is dave. I collected handguns from '76-'91 and still have most. I am a retired police officer and still interested in gun issues. Thanks dave

another newbee

Just a working man with an interest in hand guns. I found this forum while looking for info on my latest gun purchase. Looks like something i'm going to enjoy as time allows.

Hi, I'm Joe. I live in Southern California with a time-worn Remington 1187, and a variety of other guns, long and hand. I mostly shoot trap, but I also go for turkey, small birds and rabbits when I get the chance, including our State Bird, the California Quail.

I'm probably very much to the left of most of you guys, politically, but I believe deeply in the 2nd Amendment, love shooting and the outdoors, and frankly believe that the most important reason to own a gun is because if we don't, then the government is the only people with guns. I don't have to explain why that might be a bad idea.

Anyway, I've read a lot of good stuff so far and I look forward to talking to you.

hello from Long Island

hello folks my name is Paul and I am retired army a vet and a licensed C&R collector.I specialize in bolt action and antiques. No modern stuff,no handguns.
I spent 27 yrs in the Army all of it the Infantry and MPs.After retirement a friend got me into reenactment, but I didn't like it so I got into sport shooting which was an Army love, and from there into collecting. My collection is small and I'm going to keep it that way for a while.I have 6 rifles and buy on the average of once a year.I will probably hunt next year either in up state NY or over in PA..I just took some pics of my collection and wiil put them on the site soon I hope. I would rather not talk politics, especially about gun control.I will say this I really don't think it will be one of his priorities for a while. What gets done will be on the local levels and that is all I'm saying on the subject..

Newbie

Yeah I am a new guy. I love my rights and my rifles. I have no hand guns yet, but that's the next purchase. I do have a regular ole' Savage 30.06 and a M1A Scout. Fight for the real America!
My name is Jay and I am in the Army. I have been in for 12 years now and ready to get to something new. I am married with 2 girls ages 4 and 6. I served in OIF I and OIF VI-VII.

I’m a new guy from St. Charles, Missouri. After doing some research (including THR) on a handgun for beginners, I just yesterday purchased a Ruger MKIII678CG.

I’m obviously new to gun ownership and shooting and I have a lot of questions. I hope, as I move up the learning curve, everyone will be patient with me when I start asking ‘newbie’ questions.

Almost new

I joined this forum a few days ago. I'm retirerd USAF (30 years). I believe that we private citizens, who can do so, need to own, care for and be proficient in firearms.

With the political situation we have today, we don't know when the liberal lunatics in government will want to declare more insufferable restrictions on our constitutional rights.

I like about any kind of hand gun or rifle that works well and is accurate at the range. But more especially revolvers and lever action long guns.

I live in Kansas, out in the country, where we can hunt and target practice the year round.

I enjoy reading about the experinces and questions of other gun lovers.

I just became a member about an hour ago. I am not a gun owner but would like to become one before our new President begins taxing the crap out of guns and restricts our ability to buy them. I am interested in buying two guns, 1) 12 guage shotgun, five or seven shot and 2) a handgun, i.e. glock or beretta. I was hoping this website would help me determine which gun(s) to buy and the laws and rules in Georgia as to carrying and registering the guns.

Just registered....Names Derek Wilson...I shot my first gun at age 3...I am going into BUD/S hopefully this coming summer...LOVE every aspect of weaponry...and other questions just ask me...

Hi, my name's max. I believe we are living in historic times. We all might need to use our arms for the purpose the Constitution defined it as being. Those whom we elect have obviously mistaken themselves for God, But they are not. Our Creator gave us the right to bear arms.Who are they to attempt to take it away.

Shooting since I was 5 or 6 . Still shooting. Living in NM.

Hi New Member here.

I have a small collection of handguns Sig, HK, and Glock. I have not been to the range in a while and I am looking for a club close to my new location in Gloucester. I am also looking to pick up a Semi-Auto "Sporting" Rifle.

I hope to learn a lot from you guys!

New Member? Introduce yourself here!

New member – Seems like a nice site.
Live in Southern Tier of New York.
Like all projectiles & all devices that launch same – bows, spear guns, boomerangs, b-b guns, air rifles, slingshots, …
In the way of firearms prefer hardwood (one exception) & blue steel.
Favorite firearm is my Savage 22/410 w/ tenite stock. Everyplace I have been it has been. (Boo Canada, would really like to visit you again but not w/o 22/410 strapped on my motorcycle.)
Next favorite is Savage 99 in 300 Savage. Was a present from my wife for 40th anniversary. Have not yet actually shot it but love it just the same. Just holding it makes me feel like the gentleman I never will be.
Accumulated (did not say “collected”, that implies organization) a lot of firearms but the ones that I actually shoot – as opposed to carry or admire – are my old man’s semi-sporterized Springfield, Ruger 10/22 w/ Weaver ‘J’ scope & Mossberg 500.
Hunt some but there are not many birds around here & do not like gutting deer so mostly put holes in paper. Bird hunting is my excuse to own a dog.
Oh yeh, picked up a Beeman R-9, hyper accurate @ close ranges but really, really cranky about holding zero. – Anybody in the Southern Tier interested in competition air rifle shooting??

Hullo there. New member, soon-to-be new gun owner. Looking to purchase my first pistol here in the next month or two, and thought I'd get a head start on what I'd want to begin my collection.

I like what I see here so far, you'll probably see me around a bit.

Hi all,

I'm a new member as well, although I do not own any kind of firearm myself, I am very eager to learn anything and all about them. Hope to hear from y'all on the fora,

greetz,

V.

The WW2 German MG 42 had an advantage when used in a sustained
fire combat situation. The user could change barrels, using a standard issue asbestos cloth, by twisting the hot barrel approx. a half turn and replacing new barrel. This could save his life. 2 men usually assigned to this weapon.

Hi All. Served 10 years in USN mostly as sonarman aboard WW2 vintage
updated Destoyers and Destroyer Escorts. 1960 to 1969. Prior to that was trained in WW2 infantry weapons while spending short time in Army reserves.
Am interested in military history and weaponry and history of WW2 and American Civil War.
