Hi to all

Hi everyone,
My main role in life so far seems to have been:
Riding motorbikes, then
cars, then
small aeroplanes then
big aeroplanes then
very big aeroplanes then
Helicopters
- respectively.
I have always been interested in current affairs and firearms.

Joined this site as it is full of pragmatic and experienced moderators and members - (A RARE THING INDEED!!)

Greetings from Kansas

Hello!

I've been lurking around for the past few months and figure now is as good a time as any to actually join this board. I served in the US Army and am currently looking at going back into the service as a medic - I miss the military too much. I'm just starting to get into USPSA stuff as it looks like a good opportunity to improve my shooting. I'm also a fan of sporting clays and trap.

I currently own a Ruger Mark III Hunter, Beretta Px4 9mm, and Beretta Urika 12ga.

Hello from n.w. arkansas! I like what I've been checking out! I'm new to this topic, usually I have been an archery nut but find my new keltek p-11 is sweet and I want to hear about other favorites also! Later

New Guy

RNDSTPR here. I'm the FNG! In to all things gun & goes bang. I hope to learn more about what interests me via this site. I look forward to chiming in occasionally.

Greetings Everyone

I have been lurking thse boards for months, and love the wealth of information and knowledge you guys share. I am 33 and live in North Idaho.

I have a long love affair with firearms and over the years have been able to scrape up the change to purchase a few <grinz> I tend towards semi-automatics more than anything else, but am not of the "wondernine" Doctrine (though I do respect the cartridge)

So greetings to all of you, I hope I can throw in a tidbit now and again that helps ya'all out

New guy from florida

Hi everyone. I’ve been interested in guns for almost 60 years. Joined the forum to be able to inquire regarding several collectable type pistols. I remember when I was a kid I could drag the lawnmower around the neighborhood behind my bicycle (25 cents for the front yard; 50 for the back) and then head for the hardware store and buy a box of .22 shells and maybe 4 or 5 410 shells. Yeah, they’d break a box open especially for a kid. Then off you go with your rifle or shotgun on the handlebars heading to the woods. In those days your friends just waved at you. Today I guess they’d call a SWAT team. It was a different time! We were pretty innocent and really didn’t have any need for the street smarts you need today. I picked up a few long guns along the way (270, 30-06, couple of 12 gauge duck guns) but my interest was always in pistols and I had the biggest menagerie you can imagine. One day I started having trouble field stripping a gun I had had apart many times before and it finally occurred to me that since I liked S&W revolvers so much I ought to concentrate on them. You can pick one up off the night stand in the dark and it doesn’t matter which one it is - they all work the same. So for about the last 6 or 8 years I’ve been trading and buying to the extent that the only non S&Ws I have are for CC, one a PPK and the other a NAA 22 mag. I finally got a safe full of revolvers and have sorta stopped acquiring any more because those currently in power seem so intent on abusing my 2nd Amendment rights. I don’t understand how you pick and choose which Amendments you like and which you don’t. I support all of them but my newspaper editor seems fond of saying “The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.” Every time he does it I call him up and remind him that these words were uttered by Shakespeare’s character, Cade, in King Henry VI, when he and his cohorts were trying to overthrow King Henry who was generally well liked. My editor needs to remember that Cade was an anarchist and he needed to get rid of the lawyers because they supported the government and were in the way of a takeover. Sorta’ like what happened in Pakistan a few months ago when they jailed the whole judiciary and most of the lawyers. Even though I fully realize there are other important matters to deal with I have become a single issue voter. First and foremost I need to know how a candidate stands on 2nd Amendment issues. Nothing more; nothing less. Getting back to the S&Ws, I’ve gravitated toward the larger bores with several 44s and 41s and perhaps a dozen 357s. I was at the range last week and was shooting the 41 mag “Mountain Gun” and for the first time noticed that it really did have more recoil then was enjoyable. I put it up and got out the old almost worn out 22 revolver. No kick and put ½ a box of shells in the black. Felt like Wild Bill Hickcock again. Hope this isn’t too long. Only a lawyer could write something 70,000 words long and call it a “Brief.” Have a nice day.

'nother newbee...

Stumbled across this site and found it interesting... I am a Disabled US Navy Vet... Currently own a Glock 19 and thinking about getting a Marlin 336 30-30.

Hello all!
My name is Matt and I live in TX, I am active duty Navy and love to shoot, fish and hunt. I am trying to figure out how to post a question may take awhile but I think I will get it LOL!

Hey folks, another newbie here. I am a helicopter instructor pilot at Lovely Ft. Rucker, Alabama. I've been bitten by the "long range" bug. Another instructor friend of mine bought a Barrett M-82 A-1 .50 cal rifle and another friend has a cheytac .408. We are all being coached by a world champion .50 cal shooter...who has his own 1000 yard range! You see, I didn't stand a chance. I couldn't afford a $10,000 wonder gun, so I am in the process of putting together a rifle that I hope will reach out to 1000 yards with the big boys. A remington 700 Sendero SF II .300 Ultra Mag. In the meantime I will be checking out this great site and hopefully be posting some pics soon. I am also trying to put together a local 4H air rifle team. Talk about extremes. From .177 air rifles to barrett 50's. I just love all types of shooting! Rich

Hi,

I'm Paul from Luxembourg...it's a really really small country in the middle of Europe in between France, Germany and Belgium.

After getting back into shooting a little over a year ago I'm hooked more than ever :)

Cheers,
Paul

I am a new member just got my first firearm an XD 9. Figure I will be able to get ammo for it by December looking forward to my first time at the range around new years.

Hello...

Born-and-raised a gun hating liberal, but inherited a number of guns from my in-laws about 14 years ago and all has changed significantly in this department. I am shocked at what I used to think and believe, verses what I do now!
I am an avid fan of all guns, as each is a wonderful tool for the purpose it was made. I own both wheel guns and semiauto pistols, rifles and shotguns. I enjoy target and plinking. I have just got my pig tag and will go on my first hunt! I am also about apply for my CCW and preparing to get set-up for handloading (ammo is too flippin' expensive!)
I live on 16 acres in the beautiful state of Northern California (hee-haw), that are about 50% oaks and manzanita, and the rest is being converted to pigs, sheep, chickens, fruit and nut trees and an acre garden. Whew, gettin' tired just typing about it. Those Yoyes are a concern!
Anyway, I also hike and camp and want to find the right revolver/rifle carbine combo for that purpose: .357, .44Mag or 45LC?
I am looking forward to being a part of this community and gathering lots of useful info!

New Here

Hey. I'm Mark. New here. I am a former gunsmith and now I work at a county run correctional facility. I am also an amatuer collector with about 18 guns to date.
I have odd tastes. I like high capacity 9mm semi-autos (but not polymer), big bore wheel guns, and bolt action rifles. My favorite carry piece right now (and yes it changes) is my Para P18.9, a high-cap 1911 with 18+1 of 9mm = my dream gun.
Yet, I also have a fondness for my Smith & Wesson Pre36. It is simply a model 36 with the model number missing. It is obviously easier to conceal than the monster Para grip.
Finally, I am growing fonder of my Taurus Raging Bull .454 with a 5" barrel. although it it too expensive to shoot factory ammo alot.
If I misspelled, sorry. I am better at shooting than typing.

Hello

Another new guy checking in - looking forward to the continuing education provided by this site and hoping to add to the discussion.

Been lurking on the boards for a few weeks now, I'm a college student in Durham, NC. Just got a used Remington 870, first gun :D Also looking to hunt around the Triangle area or just shoot for fun/practice (I won't be in the area for long after graduating, so initiation fees for gun clubs around here are looking steep.).

Hi! Patrick here. Grew up with a hand-me-down Crossman air rifle from my cousins. When I don't have anymore BBs, I would usually put a bean as bullet and always clogged the barrel anytime. Anyways, this taught me how to field strip and oil the rifle while at young age. After that, I grew fund with modern firearms and start collecting BB guns of different models like Glock, Walther P99, Beretta 92FS and HK MP5.

Got married and realized that BB guns would not protect my family. I started buying a Walther P22, Walther PPS and HK P30 real guns. :)

Hello from S.Dak.

Hi! Came across this forum and liked what I saw so I joined you all. Im married (21 years), have 4 kids, love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping etc. I enjoy all guns but only have a few compared to a lot of you, but acquire them as I can afford them which isnt too often. I do love reloading though, great hobby and fun shootin your own.

I work for a concrete construction business as a laborer, mechanic, and cement truck driver. Love the job!! Get the winter off this is when I do most of my reloading for family and friends. I kind of inherited my dads setup as his eyes wont let him read too well anymore, so I reload and he shoots em, fair trade I think. Hopefully I can contribute info here and pick up info also. Thanks for reading look forward to visiting with you all!

New from WV. Waiting on my Conceled carry to come back. Been a shooter quite awhile, just getting into handguns. Look forward to learning here.

well hello all. i am 18 years old and about to go in to the army as an MP. my interest in firearms is self defense target shooting and hunting. i tend to like rim fire .22s and .17s. but also have a some others.

I am new to shooting and guns. I finally have the time and resources to do it. My first pistol was a 380 cobra, which I've shelved since it jammed so much. I now have a Taurus .357 snub nose revolver which I'm very happy with. I teach High School science and it is spring break. I spent two hours shooting Wednesday getting the feel of the gun (and running the range out ammunition). Also have added a Remington .270. A nearby gun club sponsors varmint shooting and I hope to try that.

Hi,

I am relatively new to guns. I was in the military about 20 years ago for a few years and was okay with an M16 but have not fired a gun or rifle since then. I own a cheap single barrel shotgun that I have had for about 15 years and never fired and a CZ 82 handgun which I have also never fired. I am on a waiting list to get my Concealed Carry (first class opening is the end of June). I would like to find a range near by that I could practice at. I live in Texas about 15 minutes from Ft. Hood. If any of you Texas can recommend a place that would be great.
