intro

Hi good people.

I have many weapons and would like many more. I reload for most all of

them. My main interest is in highly accurate, but practical, long range

rifle shooting. For those things I currently use 5.56 and 22-250 and 7.62

at moderate ranges, 7mm mag and .300 Win mag out to 1000 and I shoot a

brand new, just finished building, 6.5 X .300 RUM, .300 RUM, .338RUM out to

12 or 15, and I shoot a .50BMG for very long ranges. I am going to build

either a .408 Chey-Tac or a .416 Barret in the very near future. By the way I

I am still looking for expert advice on starting loads for my 6.5 X .300 RUM

I put a i:9 twist, 30" Kreiger barrel on a blueprinted 700 receiver and I am

wanting to drive 140 gr SMK's and Lapuas and Bergers hopefully to around

3500-3600fps? I know about overbore and barrel wear/throat erosion.

Thanks much for listening.

ps. I am a once married-single, 61 yr, several yrs 11B20 and 67N20 VN vet.

and love my country.

Hello Everybody

Hi everyone, I'm a 54 year old southern male and I've just purchased my first handgun, a S&W Model 642 .38 Special. I've put in considerable time at the range and plan on taking a concealed carry class in the next few weeks. I've also spent a lot of time here in this forum and look forward to spending more quality time.

Howdy. I'm a 30 year old lawyer and relatively new gun owner. I own a sig 226, a cz-82, a nagant revolver, and an AK-47. Many more guns are on my 'to purchase' list.

I work at probably the most pro-gun lawfirm in existence. We all either have, or have applied for, CWP's. Bringing your gun to work is not only ok, but encouraged. In fact, if you buy a new gun and DON'T bring it to work to show it off, you will be bitched at. Likewise, if you own guns and don't bring anything to work (for defense purposes), you will probably be asked what the hell is wrong with you. We go to the range at lunchtime once a week. Ordering ammo and other gun-related stuff to the office is just fine, and our receptionist is used to it by now. :D

I forsee me owning MANY guns in the future. :D

Wannabe First Time Gun Owner

Hey guys, I'm 23 and am looking to buy my first gun, mainly for self protection, but also for some leisure practice. I don't have much to spend, roughly about $350. So far I've been drawn to Taurus' six-round revolvers. Are there any thoughts on how these guns would perform for a first time owner???

Hello all

Nice to see you and join this group. I have been a handgun shooter for more than 17 years and a handloader for more than 20.

I look forward to some good discussions.

Hello

Hello All. I'm a 40 year old current service member, I manage and shoot on a military marksmanship team, and have a modest collection of firearms leaning toward old military rifles (especially wood stocked bolt actions, heavy on the Mausers). I have owned firearms since I was about 15, courtesy of parents who did a fairly good job of instilling some responsibility and respect in me. I have found myself browsing many of the threads here as I search for various info, so have finally decided that I should join and throw my $.02 in once in a while. I enjoy building and 'smithing on various projects I come up with, and have gotten some very good info from this site! My current project is a .45 ACP conversion on an old Turkish Mauser that once upon a time had been a Mauser Oberndorf Gew 98 pattern. After the Turks had 'converted' it to the 1938 pattern, it only had 4 threads left in the receiver ring and so I had to find another use for it. The .45 ACP conversion was the answer. It's about 75% done at this point, I just need to finish mounting the sights and fit the stock. I'm trying to keep it looking as military as possible, with the exception of the mag adapter sticking out of the magazine box.:D
I look forward to more good discussions and info!

Hi, my name is Lance and I live in Colorado (Iowa transplant) I am looking to get into reloading. Just picked up my Utah and Colorado CCW permits and I have started shooting alot more. So I want to look into reloading.

Howdy my name is Art Howard and I am from Texas. I have been collecting guns for about 20 years. Most of my guns I purchased new for hunting and sport shooting. I have one German Luger that I inherited from my Grandfather and I was trying to find a value for it for insurance purposes. It looks to be a DWM navy luger. He brought it back during the war.

Im new to this forum as well as handguns. Im a combat veteran. I was a scout in OIF. So I have basic experience with the M-4, AK and some larger weapons. However being a scout, handguns werent issued. I purchased a 1911 about six months ago and have shot 200-250 rounds through it. So any ones with tips on non-adjustable sight removal would be appreciated. I wanted a revolver so I bought a Redhawk a couple of days ago. To me the Redhawk performed excellent with the SPLs I ran through it. I also would like to know how often I need to clean and lubricate my Redhawk.

Hey everyone,

Complete noob here. In fact, I don't even own a firearm (yet). I live in southern Illinois, so I'm blessed with all the Chicago-imposed restrictions, including no right to carry. Just recently received my new FOID card (which took seven weeks to arrive despite the fact that the law requires the state police to send it in 30 days). I'm shopping around right now for a handgun, and I'm leaning towards getting a full-size 1911 because it just feels "right" in my hand.

I'm 30 years old and have wanted a gun for a long time, but I've been poor forever and it seems like there was always something I wanted/needed to buy before a gun, so I've procrastinated a long time.

I'm an attorney, so I'm really interested in a lot of the legal aspects of gun rights and gun control. Also, I'm probably one of the most pro-gun rights people you've ever met that has never owned a gun.

Greetings

I began to exercise my 2nd Amendment rights last fall, around election day. I got my concealed weapons permit and I joined a sportsman's club to learn and to practice on how to become and remain proficient in self defense with a firearm. Since then I've acquired a Sig/Sauer P225 9mm, a Springfield XD 45acp and a Mossberg 500 home defense shotgun. I've begun reading books on the subject by Masad Ayoob and others and I've become friends with a champion in competition shooting. He sent me a link to this forum the other day and that's when I found THR and decided to become a member.
I hope to learn a lot from the The High Road.org

I've been lurking for a short while now, and I thought I should introduce myself. My interest in guns is based on my interest in American history and constitutional rights -- guns are not something I grew up with. In fact, the first time I shot a gun was during basic training in the Army, an M16. And after getting out, I didn't give much thought to guns for many years.

Not until I was watching TV one afternoon about 10 years ago. It was an episode of that awful show "V.I.P." with Pamela Anderson. She was shooting some huge pistol at a range, and I thought to myself, "That looks like fun. I could do that if I wanted." So I signed up for a basic handgun class, later got a concealed carry permit, and now, after owning a couple of Glocks, I find myself with a Ruger SR9 and a Mini-14.

I'm disappointed that we have to make political discussion verboten, but I understand why. For myself, I don't think owning a gun should be any more indicative of your politics than owning a car; but I realize not everyone is in that frame of mind.

You probably won't find me posting a lot; I tend to be very sparse in my replies. But when I do post, you will often find me taking a devil's advocate position because, well, that's just how I think. I like to bring a hypothetical situation to its logical conclusion, y'know.

Hi everyone. I've been lurking on THR for a long while and finally decided to join the party. I'm a life time member of the NRA and an avid gun owner most of my life. I don't get to target shoot as much as I'd like these days because most of the ranges around here are kind of bad. My hobbies besides guns are computers and cars, I'm an extreme motorhead! Nice to meet everyone!

Newbie

Hi everybody. I just joined the forum. I love shooting just about anything, but in particular handguns. I fell in love with the 1911 at an early age. Now at age 50 it's stronger than ever. I am a Buckeye born and bred. Go Buckeyes. NRA member forever. Someone has to fight for us. Reloaded for years on a rock chucker but recently graduated to a LnLAP. Great forum.

Howdy! new member from the state of NY. I am also new to civilian ownership of rifles (though I was in the Army/Army Reserve for over 15 years).

To wit I am still boggled by the extent of the rules in NY, though I gather it is still better than some places.

I currently have a Remington 870 tactical 12 ga shotgun and a 98K Mauser. I just bought my wife, who is a recent convert to Gun rights, a Ruger Min 14 and an a Remington 1100 12ga auto.

My interest in firearms include personal defense, hunting and target shooting. I also have dabbled in black powder firearms (5 years of Civil War re-enacting).

My hobbies include computers, singing and now fire arms

Hi, I just found out about this site a couple days ago(hard to belief with more than 82,000 members I didn't hear about it sooner)
I'm a Benefactor Life member of the NRA. I'm into a little of everything as far as guns go. But more interested in lever actions and hunting handguns.

Looking forward to exploring the site.
