Another newby, here, although probably old enough to be your father. Just caught the bug and am exploring everything I can learn. My daughter and I did scuba diving together when she was 12. Now that she's 23, this is our new sport.
I know nothing. I'm going to lurk, and read, and try not to offend! All this new lingo and everything. As I tell the guys at the gun shop(s), "talk down to me! This is how I learn!"

Hello all. New guy here.

Have been around hunting, fishing, firearms since I was about 12 so it's been a lifelong journey. Just recently (Saturday) picked up my first M1 Garand, which I'm excited to get out and burn some ammo with (once I actually find some for it).

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site. My wife and I have lived in NH for the past 20+ yrs. We have 2 kids, who have families of their own. My wife, children, their spouses & I all believe in our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. I served in the US Navy from 1970 - 1974. I am a legal holder of a NH CCW license & carry on a regular basis. Today I visited my local range, where I joined others in 'practice'. 250 rds of .22, 100/9mm, 50/.38, 50/.32. I look forward to being a member of this site.

Welcome

Welcome to you all. I've been here a few months. Lots of good info. Read some of the stickies & rules in the forums, really helps:)

Been lurking for a while. God knows there's enough info here to keep me occupied for the remainder of eternity.

Hey, i just happened across the sight a few days ago, and I like what I see. I'm interested in just about anything, but primarily rifles and military surplus. I just turned 18 and don't own any guns myself, but hopefully that will soon change.

Hi gang -- I am new to this site and have been very impressed with the quality of the posts and knowledge of the members. I am mostly interested in handguns of all calibers and to a lesser degree shotguns and rifles. I am also interested in Second Amendment rights and concealed carry rights. Thanks! It's good to be here...

Bryskee's the name. I'm in Colorado.

I love guns, fishing, hunting, camping, and most out door activities. My main passion is Politics and gun rights. I hate how our rights get chipped away bit by bit so no one really notices until it's too late. If we took all laws in the past 5 years alone and put them in one big book for people to vote on the people would be outraged at the amount of new laws. However, chipping away bit by bit makes it hardly noticable to many. People are bored reading and learning of politics but then they get angry when laws affecting them change. I wonder why? I love guns and my RIGHT (so far) to keep them.

Howdy, guys. I'm here in the Great Northwest... where it rains a lot, usually. Been a reloader for 40+ years, so I hope I may be able to contribute a nugget or 2 of information in the correct area. I reload for everything I shoot - pistol, revolver, rifle and a lot of 12ga loads for trap, which is another hobby.

In a past life I wore a suit and carried a weapon on my belt, so I know a couple things. Before that, I did my 20 in the USN.

I've perused this place in past years and am a member over on the 1911 forum and a Hi-Power forum, but here at THR it seems like there's a lot of current, relevant stuff going on, so thought I'd finally join up. Hope I can contribute.

Hello to all at THR. Well after a couple of months of reading here I decided to join the rest of ya. Mostly due to the amount of knowledge here because of the vast array of different models/calibers that the members post about. Well now about myself. I am a Native Floridian, yep there are still a few of us down here. I have been shooting since I was five and like all types of things that go boom. Some of my toys include a MAS 49/56 chambered in x51 NATO (Yeah it works great without the gas port fix, guess I was one of the lucky ones), Norinco SKS (not bubba'd at least yet!), and my new toy (told the wifey it was really for her) a CZ-82 in almost un used condition.

Well, I signed up yesterday, but couldn't think of anything thoughtful
or inspirational to put into my intro post, and to be honest I still
can't.

My names Josh, im 24 and I live in the devils bellybutton, tucson, AZ. I
never knew the expression "hot enough to fry an egg" was for real till I
moved here. I've lived here for about 8 years now and I still can't
stand the heat. Rain and snow for me all the way!!!

My small collection of firearms was mostly passed down to me, and im not
sure of the ages on most of them. The include a savage 99 in .303, which
I really want to shoot, but either can't find or can't afford the
ammunition. An older mossberg 12 gauge w/ a bolt action and 2 round
clip. This was my first shotgun, and my favorite out of all the firearms
I own. I have a lefevre arms side-by-side 12 gauge, non damascus. these
were all handed down to me by my dad, and I don't know where he got them
( I assume some family member).

My purchased weapons include a mossberg 500 that I have added a few
features to including an ATI collapsible stock, NC star red dot, and a
tacstar side saddle. This is my main home defense weapon. I also own a
91/30 I purchased for 100 bucks at big 5 sporting goods. That one is
going to the smithy this weekend to get a look at for some new
upgrades.

The one handgun I own is a Taurus PT945 that I picked up used for $345.
Its in pieces right now because someone thought they could fix it
(jammed a lot) and couldn't. Its beyond what I can repair now, and I
still need to send it to Taurus for warranty repairs.

That's pretty much my gun life in a nutshell. I shoot when I can afford
it, and I take anyone with me that I think would have fun. Im not a gun
nut by any means, but I do really enjoy them.

I hope everyone has a great day, and im going to finish with that
because I can't think of anything better to finish with :)

Hello friends and neighbors

Hello friends and neighbors, My name is Ken, I was/am a boy scout, hunter, hiker, camper, and canoer but not a great speller ;-) I have done some reloading (44 redhawk 7 1/2 inch) but not much. Anyone else ever use Hercules red dot smokeless shotgun powder in a 44mag. revolver cartridge? Keeps the cost down $2.14 per 50 in 1991 using own brass lol. JHP Slug will cover a Quarter.// I now am set up for mixed RURALHD/deer, boar, gamebird hunting and teaching my nephew the little I know. One of my favorite sayings is "take the high road but don't look down" so this site is a natural......I believe I/we can learn something from every person, even if it is how not to act.. Hope we can all enjoy learning from friends and neighbors like you. To quote Shakespeare: I have something most kings never obtain ...contentment. 6'4" 250 lb. gentle giant...mostly // Thanks to radagast for the 586 DOB info I've already obtained here... ;-) content

Hello to all and Thank You for an outstanding website. I've recently gotten the reloading bug which is how I found this site. I've been really impressed with the information flow and experience on this site.

Hi,

Been lurking around for about a month and decided to join in. I've been an active hunter and shooter for over 40 years, and just started reloading about 2 years ago. Great Hobby!
One of my reasons for joining was I noticed several other posters on this forum were from East Kentucky also (notice how we say East Kentucky like it's a seperate state?). Maybe we could organize a local shoot sometime.
Another thing I really like about this forum is how quick the moderators shut down threads before they devolve into the ridiculous namecalling some of the other otherwise good firearms forums regress into.
Keep up the good work.

Hi from new member

Howdy all, thought that this just looked like a great place to hang out, learn, & converse with other like-minded folks. I am 45, disabled by a botched surgery & a stroke, but I am still a pretty fair hand with a govt. model 1911 & a shotgun. I live in the people's republic of Wisconsin. I am into .45 govt. models, S&W revolvers, HD shotguns, & military firearms in general. Old motorcycles & German Shepard dogs are my other main interests. thank you!!! A.J.

hey guys, name is myles.. im 22, a graduate student and own about 17 different firearms, and i love carrying. by the way does anyone know how to post a new thread??????

greetings

Stopping by to say hello. I have been lurking here for a while and managed to acquire a great deal of info. Hopefully one day I can return the favor.

Member of the Indiana National Guard currently deployed (again). I am originally from Western Montana, but moved to Indiana after leaving Active Duty Army to attend college. I love high-power rifles but I have learned to adjust to Indiana's shotgun deer hunting season. Last year I bought a 458 SOCOM that I an very fond of. Now if I can find less expensive ammunition, I would be all set. I currently carry an M-4 5.56 rifle with a beautiful ACOG scope. I am an avid deer hunter and according to my pre-marital agreement, I still get back home to Montana every other year or so for Elk Hunting.

I am also new. I was drawn in by the need to reply to a post that I found while searching the internet for some gun information. As stated above I am left-handed, even though I shoot handguns with both hands. I have always been interested in guns but I did not grow up with a gun-friendly family. I was lucky enough to find a person at work whom is an ex-marine that has a passion for shooting and decided to take me in and teach me many things: technique, actions, hunting, reloading, ballistics, etc. I now own a few guns but, in my opinion, most are good weapons. For handguns, I own: S&W Sigma (pre-ban) in 9mm, Springfield GI 1911 in .45, Ruger KP95DC in 9mm, Taurus chrome snubnose .38, S&W M&P in .40. For long guns I own: Savage 112 left-hand bolt-action heavy barrel in .22-250, Savage 12 left-hand bolt-action heavy barrel in .308, H&R heavy barrel single-shot 12ga, Savage .22 left-hand bolt-action, and soon to own (on order) Savage 14 American Classic left-hand bolt-action in, get this....250 Savage. I also hope to shortly own a Savage 99 in .300 Savage. I am still learning but I believe that I have made some good choices recently. I have also been hand-loading. I have recently found a .22-250 load that shoots 3/8", 5-shot groups at 100 yards. Any comments/observations on my choices thus far?

40 Yr old in Ky. Learned to target shoot as a child, honed my skills as a USMC rifleman. I've been away from guns for awhile, but it's time to teach my boys all that they will not learn in the scouts. We've done air rifle for two years, now it's time for a little more power. I've got an Anschutz 22LR to start them off with, and also a S&W Model 15 for camping. For the future, a semi-auto 38 or magnum, and an AR-15 for myself, and whatever works out for the boys.

Greetings, all.
Recently retired from the military (30+ years), I now have a little more time for my shooting hobby.
I enjoy all types of shooting, and spend a lot of time reloading (rather important these days...), so that I can sustain my habit.
My teenaged son is quite a shooter, and my now-grown daughter carries on the tradition, as well (she owns five handguns, and got her concealed carry permit just as soon as she was eligible).

hey guys! another noob here! I am 23 and recently bought a cheap Century international arms AK WASR to starting getting in to shooting. I love guns and are planning to buy more in the future! I don't know that much about guns but I will be lurking on the forum to read and learn about it.
