Marksonamor, welcome to THR!

I am quite new to this site as well (joined about 3 weeks ago), and am in the same boat as you regarding how much there is to learn. So, how did you get into guns?

I believe I got into them because I used to like water guns when I was little (still do really), then I received a BB gun for Christmas which looked like a HK MP5-K, shot it a couple times, and then decided that I actually wanted something that shot real bullets. I finally bought a Beretta M9, loved it, and figured out that I'd like to buy a lot of guns. Unfortunately, I did not grow up in the gun-friendly environment that many others did - in fact quite the opposite. But it doesn't really matter now.

In any case, please do tell your story. And again, welcome!

Hello, I am an Army Veteran and love small arms. I prefer active shooting but that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy some good bench time! I have centerfire rifles, pistols, and shotguns that see as much use as I can get out of them:). I am really looking forward to being part of a forum like this. I am in Houston, TX along with my two boys and wife. My trade is theatrical designer. Thanks.

Hello, long time reader - first time writer :)

I've just started bullseye competition shooting in Sweden and i find your forum verry informative regarding both weapons (models, repairs etc..) and shooting techniques!

I don't really know what to write about my self, except that you have to forgive occational spelling and gramar errors.. =) As long as you understand what im writing is good enough for me :D

Im a bit jealous with your more generous gun laws in the US (or at least most states). In Sweden it is NOT a civil right to own guns, you have to have a need. Such as hunting, competition etc. Home security and self protection is not a legit need to own a gun in Sweden, nor are you allowed to cary a weapon other than on a gun range or in the woods when hunting. Otherwise we need to carry the weapon out of sight (in a bag or such) in two parts and sepperated from ammunition. I can't really say i feel the need for guns for protection though, im satisfyed with punching holes in paper at the range :)

So - there you got it, a tiny presentation of myself and a bit of information about Swedish gun laws =)

Guns Guns and More Guns

Well as you can see this here fella is new to this organisation but he sure ain't new to playing with guns.
Whilst it is true and can be said without question the most guns used in the sport I play are in the good old US of A, but I would like to put in a prompt for this here God's own Country - New Zealand ( Aotearoa - the land of the long white cloud ) or as us white fellas like to say - the place where the men are men and even the sheep are runnin scared!!! ).
We been shooting both SASS and CAS down here for many years and in fact a few of our shooters are right up there at the top of the sport World Wide.
I have used many brands of equipment over the years but have settled down to using my slicked up Uberti 73 lever action (.38 cal ) along with two Ruger New Vaquero's in .38/357 calibre and can honestly say they have not let me down at all - used to use Rossi 357/38 calibre Lever Action but what the experts said was true of that breed - "it's not if it will break but when". My Rossi was greased and slick to use very very fast but nowhere near the speed of my current Uberti. Will drop in a time or two and say my peice then run and hide a while till it all settles down some. Cheers folks - nice to meet ya'all.

Hey all,
Well i love all shooting sports , i shoot and collect mostly rimfire due to two crappy shoulders but with a recoil pad i can shoot high power which i really like , i shoot high power airguns and black powder on occasion. i don't get to the range much in the last couple of years due to a change in my job but when i do it is from sun up to sundown.
regards ,

Hey all just thought I'd say Hello. Been shooting since 1975 w/no hearing

Allow me to introduce myself....

I live in NE Pennsylvania and "inherited" 2 S & W .38 Specials from my father (one of them belonged to his father). Both of them were retired NYPD. Dad passed away 12 years ago and Grandpa died 61 years ago, but I rescued these pieces from the woman my dad married just prior to his death so they wouldn't find their way back onto the street. I have fired them both, using ammo that I found with the guns. I suspect that some of the ammunition is 35-40 years old, because the manufacturers listed on the boxes didn't list their Zip codes in their addresses. ZIP codes have been around since 1961, and most companies use them on their products. I own a rifle, as well, but am not a hunter. I would like to register these handguns, but local scuttlebutt is that if I do, I'll have to turn them in to the government when handguns are outlawed (of course, then only the outlaws will have them). I am not a 'gun-nut' , but I believe in the right of US citizens to bear arms. I'm happy to connect with people I can trust on this site.

Hi, I've read quite a few topics I've found via search engines. Lately I've just been completely fed up with ar15.com. They are just about the snobbiest people I ever met...I hate being treated like a third-class citizen just because none of my guns cost over what appears to be the $800 minimum required for respect there. It seems like you get forever branded and any question you ask, no matter how irrelevant it is to any particular model of firearm, even if no model is even MENTIONED, will just always end up with the only answers you ever get being "Stop trying to make it what it isn't, throw away your POS gun, come back when you have a real weapon."

New to this forum. I have been on Battlerifles and ambackforum for some time. Anyone know what happened to ambackforum ???:confused:
I am into military guns mainly because of history and low prices on most of them.:):) Nothing new on the market lately that strikes my fancy.

Newbie onboard from s.c.

Hello all, This is my introduction to the TheHIGHROAD.org community. I have recently joined the firearms community due to me finally seeing the true light of our current status as citizens in the U.S.A. I have since been taking steps to prepare myself and educate myself/others on ways to protect the people and not the "so called system".

I personally have attained my CWP, joined NRA, and purchased my first firearm (RUGER PK95 15RND MAGS STAINLESS) 9mm semi-auto handgun. I also am a member of GrassRoots Gunrights S.C. I believe this community will be a valuable tool to further my education about safe firearm operation. :)

Hi,

I've had a beretta 21a for 15 years, and I'm very happy with it. I'd like to buy an extra mag or 2 - anyone know where I could find a beretta mag for it?

Just about to leave and pick up my new gun - a S&W 637.
thanks for all the info provided here.

Newbie in the forum, i've just bought an "old" P228 ("KB"), NIB 1991 manufactured in W. Germany...
Really nice and 98% new (~ 500 rounds fired !)

I've read good things about this wonder gun.
Note : my P228 is without "Exeter NH" mark on the left side, just SIG SAUER. What difference with latest models ? Just all european model ?

See you soon on the forum !

Hi, I just joined this discussion forum. My main interest is that I have questions about my PTR-91. Any advice on how to navigate through this website would be greatly appreciated.
