I have had my gun permit since I think I was 19 or 20. I carried a lady smith & wesson 9mm. I then grew up got married and had kids and somewhere along the way gun was sold and pulled away. Well I'm back. My husband died in a quadding accident and at 39 I was left alone with my 2 girls. I keep a 12g rifle by my bed. An AR15 at a place of easy reach and just bought a Hk9mm. I came on the site to get info. In one area the Hk was given good reviews. Then when compared to the 1911, it lost. I understand there's no comparison to the 1911, but for me as a women I find the Hk is easy to handle. I am having trouble with the trigger, the pull is too long. By time I shoot im way off the paper. I wish I knew that before purchasing. Oh well, I still have my rifle. I hope to learn a lot on this site.

Hey everyone.

Long time reader, new subscriber to the board. I'm a new gun owner in New York State. Lived in NYC for over a decade, recently moved out when the kids started to get bigger. Lifelong interest in firearms, but haven't shot for years. Apart from the clean air, better schools, living space and the usual things one gets when leaving NYC, I can of course now own a firearm, reasonably hassle-free.

The wife and I like antiques, and for me that translates into my two firearms:
1860 Colt BP repro
Yugo M24/47 Mauser

I plan on hitting the range soon, haven't had time with work and everything else. I'll be posting in other sections of the board with the usual obvious questions and FNG things.

Now living in RI, never owned a firearm (unless I drive through MA where they consider my keychain mace one), and hoping to start with a one firearm for all purposes small CCW solution. Anyone else from RI here or anyone know the rules to follow?

New to forum

Hi everyone. I signed on a couple of days ago but noticed that it is customary to post a little about myself on this thread.
I am a 60-year-old retiree from a machine shop where the majority of my years were spent running various types of lathes with the last 15 or so years on CNCs.
I am brand new to shooting and have also begun reloading my own ammo. My gun is a Ruger SS GP100 with 6". I picked a used one up at a gun shop and fell in love with it right away. My brother and son-in-law are die-hard Blackhawk fans ,but after shooting those in both 357 and 44mag I believe the GP100 is superior...in my hand anyway(don't want to get on the bad side of Redhawk/Blackhawk fans right off the bat). Mine just fits my hand better. Since I wanted new and that shop could not get one in I checked out a couple other gun shops and at one of them I was told they had just what I wanted coming to them the next day that was unclaimed so I grabbed it. I absolutely love this thing and look forward to becoming a fairly good shot with it. The only mods I've made is a HiViz front sight that I've had little chance to try out. I have trouble seeing the front sight that comes from the factory. I have a gunsmith lined up to change out the hammer/trigger springs when he gets back from vacation in late July. I think he said he also polishes all of the moving parts that contac other parts and he puts some kind of pink lube on them.
I have many questions about both shooting and reloading and after checking out some of the threads on here it looks like I'll be getting good, solid advice. Some of my questions I'm sure will be lame, but like I said,I'm starting a brand new hobby and have absolutely no experience.
Another hobby of mine is koikeeping. Any other koikeepers here?

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your community.

Bill

Greetings

Brand new to the forum, just looking for a place to learn and receiver solid advice.

Enjoy long range target shooting, along with small game hunting. Avid collector of WWII memorabilia including firearms, and other antique firearms.

Long term browser. Have only been interested in guns for about 15 months. My wife had been after me to get a gun for SD for years, so I finally broke down and got a Sig P239 in .40 S&W last year, after we attended a CCW class.

Now, we both have our CCW license and a "hers" Bersa Thunder 380, as well as a new "ours" P228R. All great guns with no problems with any of them.

I don't have much to say very often, but I like to read and learn and this forum, along with others, has helped me to learn a great deal.

I look forward to many more I teresting threads here

Sorry, just found this intro section. Collect semi auto military rifles, reload, do some gun repair and restoration. Restore old radios as another hobby and also collect and use stereoscopic photographic equipment. This is a nice site you have here and I hope to read and share with you.

Hello everyone. I really like your forums, expecially the reloading information.
I have loaded and shot a lot of handguns, rifles and shotguns over the last thirty years. I would like to share my experiences and pet load data. Right now I am experimenting with a matched pair of Ruger Blackhawks, stainless 7.5" barrels, 45 Colt. So far I have lightened the trigger springs, painted and finished the grips, and had a gunsmith friend ream the cylinder throats to .4525.

Wussup yall? Got back from the sandbox in Jan, my 1st tour (NCANG) & am back in NC. I don't currently own any guns BUT that will change very soon as I just received my pistol permit & went right to the nearest, highest reviewed gun store in Raleigh.
Real quick, just so you fine folks have some background & maybe can lend your extensive knowledge if you fell inclined to do so; I'm looking to buy 2 auto loaders, a shotgun & a rifle (in that order), with my focus right now solely on the pistols. I'm going to start a thread right after this & anyone who feels like tossing your .02 in, PLEASE DO!

Hi
Just discovered this site. I enjoy shooting and learning from others in the firearms community. I own a Taurus 24/7 Pro in 45 cal, a Taurus 357 4" revolver in stainless, a Rossi 38 - 2" snubnose 5 shot, a Hi Point C9 - 9mm, and a Charter Arms 22 auto - 10 " barrel (very old gun). I also have a couple of 12 gage trap guns (old Remingtons) that I used to shoot a lot, but not so much anymore.
I have run into a lot of "gun snobs" who tend to discount the Taurus, Rossi, Hi Point and Charter Arms, firearms. I have owned them all for a while and shoot them regularly. I have found them to be reliable, safe, accurate guns.

New member here in the northern Atlanta Metro area of Georgia. My Glock 30 with CT Lasergrips is my current favorite. In my early 50's... don't get to go shooting as often as I would like, but I'm glad I stocked up on ammo before Obama won the election and prices went sky high.

Hello

Hi everyone

My name is Gordon and I never really had an interest in guns till I had to use a few (I won't go into detail). I own a small variety of weapons. Here's a short list of a few of them.

For knives or less than lethal
I prefer a crowbar. (I know it's stupid, but it works)

Handguns
357 Colt Python
Glock 17

Rifles, Submachine
I usually prefer my Mp5k
I also have a Mp7

Ect
I also have a crossbow with a scope on it.
