Welcome to The High Road! I'm an Aussie myself (Australian that is), There is a small contingent of non US members here, including a few Swiss, Australians, Canadians, British, etc. Don't worry about your English, it's a lot better than my completely non existent grasp of Dutch, French or German.

Hi everyone. I'm Chris from NoVA. Been lurking here for a while, but figured I should probably jump in (just what I need, another forum to participate in :) ).

Grew up with a hunter for a father but never really got into it. After many years without shooting at all, I purchased my first two handguns earlier in the year (S&W M&P 9mm and a Ruger MkIII) and try to go to the range to punch paper when I can. I also have a 28guage Remington 1100 that my dad gave me when I was much (MUCH) younger that I sometimes shoot sporting clays with.

My other hobby (cycling) consumes most of my money and time these days. But I certainly would like to expand the gun collection in the future.

New kid on the block

Hi! this is my first time ever using a gun forum of any sort i always read them but never contribute so i think its time i participate in one. I'm 20 years young and i love firearms what can i say. same old cliche growing up my dad showed me the fundamentals with a .22 and the rest is history. I'm young but i have fairly good knowledge of firearms and firearms history but im really looking into getting into the meat of some of my interest, which include long distance rifle, long distance iron sights, stress and timing drill with rifles and carbines, skeet, shotgun defense, any handgun exercise including trick shooting, and last but not least bow and arrow. thats just off the top of my head but i wish to learn as much as i can about guns as i possibly can. The only thing slowing me down is the fact that i live in California but thank good for the high military rate in san diego!!! ok enough about me time to post my second thread see every body there soon!

I see this discussion is rather old. But what the hey! My name is Don I am 19 and I live in a small village in Michigan. I am going to school for Law Enforcement. Please don’t disregard or discredit anything I may say do to my young age. I grow up around firearms with a Mom that was 5 State champion 2 years in a row in the men’s division and with a grandfather that was a sharpshooter as well as to Military Police uncles. I got my first weapon when I was 9 it was a Single shot Paragon 12 Ga. Then when I turned 13 I graduated to my first handgun, which was Ruger Old Army .44. As to what firearms I like well if it goes bang and shoots a projectile I like it! But I would have to say I am fonder of old Military Weapons.

Well Folks, I have been shooting for 60yrs, carried concealed for many years legally. I have never drawn my handgun in the good ole USA and hope I never will. I have a fondness for the 45 with first hand knowledge of it's use against humans. I carry a 45 when I can, otherwise a J frame S&W and sometimes I drop down to a Walther .380. I am an advocate of self defense and still practice hand to hand and blade work I learned in the '60s. I moved to WV when I retired and enjoy the hills of this area where I was born.

Hey guys,

I'm a former Marine attending college on the GI Bill. Working with that kind of budget, I'm starting my firearm collection out slowly. I own a Glock 21 .45ACP, a Mossberg 88 12-gauge, and I just picked up a new Savage Edge .223 bolt-action the other day.

Hey, y'all, I'm new here, but I've been on m1911.org for a while now. (great forum!)
I'm really interested in (what else) 1911's, and want to get a good entry level one soon, perhaps a STI Spartan or a MR DE 1911.
Thanks! Go Hawks!

Hey folks,
I'm obviously new here as well. I'm no stranger to firearms but just recently got back into the shooting sport after a long break. I've signed up on a couple of different sites but find my self coming back to this one often. I look forward to chatting about all types of guns but hand guns seem to be my main focus of interest.

Hello all!
Newbie here too, been on for a bit but just doing some reading...Mostly reading over my husband's shoulder. I've been reloading for years and love my Glocks. Just looking for some advise and to learn from you guys.
Happy shooting!

new to the site. actually ran across it this morning, looking for info on an old bolt action mossberg shotgun, a guy i work with is selling. fairly new to the hobby, growing up the son of a single mother, guns weren't allowed. always been interested in them, though. about 10 years ago, i taught myself to shoot with a .22 magnum bolt action Marlin, still have it. moved up to a remington 710 .300, a few years ago. a guy at work had a 9mm hypoint carbine for sell so i picked it up, pretty accurate and cheap fun gun. picked up my first handgun a month ago, a ruger p98 9mm, real fun gun. which circles back around to the reason i found this site. mossberg model 185 20 gauge bolt action shotgun, seems to be a pretty badass gun, but he's asking $175, good or no good. take care.

Hello everyone! I have been reading this forum for years, but finally joined. I shoot primarily semi-auto out to 500yrds, as anything longer is hard to find in North Georgia. Love to hunt, hike and ride motorcycles.

Hello my name is John and I just inherited a gun from my Dad. It's a Smith & Wesson .38 S & W special CTG. serial # C592856 and it says on the right side ..Made in U.S.A / Marcas Registradas/ Smith & Wesson/ Springfield Mass. It has a 5.11/16" barrel length.
I don't believe he ever had registered it ..He has stage 4 cancer and doesn't really remember much. I was curious to know about it: Year, how much it would be worth, and how to sell it. It's in good condition.
Thanks!!

Reeder,

You need to post this in either Revolvers or Firearms Research. Someone will be along shortly to help, I promise.

Except:
I don't believe he ever had registered it
Registered it with whom? Why would he need to register a personally owned piece of property with anyone? (Unless of course, you live in NYC or Chicago or Washington DC.)

And, welcome to THR. :)

Hi

Hi Nauman from Pakistan. I own a .303 Lee Enfiled rifle, a 9mm CF-98 (Norinco), a .38 Webley Revolver and planning to buy a Gamo Air Gun, Shadow maybe. I like to go out for Dove and pigeon shooting once in a while. Just sold my Diana 35, so looking for a Gamo. Cheers, :)

New member intro

Hello fellow gun enthusiasts.

I've been enjoying long and hand guns for about 15 years and have been reloading for about 3 years. A friend gave me a little Lee "starter" kit and told me when I out grew it to give it to someone else to start out with. I added a Lee classic cast and used both presses for most of the last 3 years. Last month I gave away my original Lee kit and upgraded to a Lee classic cast turrret model to join the classic cast single stage. I mounted it to the bench but haven't played with it yet. I'll post pictures of my bench soon. I shoot .22 pistols competitively and want to get into competitive tactical shooting with my Glock 22 or my Springfield Armory .45 this winter. I do HVAC and electrical troubleshooting, repairs, and some installations for the FAA at airports in Illinois, Indiana, and parts of Michigan. I enjoy hiking, fishing, and boating in the Wisconsin northwoods. I'm also a Green Bay Packer fan and a life member of the NRA. I do a little welding as a hobby. I discovered this forum when doing research on Lee turret presses on the internet. Looks like lots of friendly knowledgable people on this forum. I hope I can contribute in the future.

Thanks

kj

Hi from Tennessee

I'm a new member from West Tennessee. I like mostly old guns and pistols. I have traded on all type of guns over the last few years but this has really slowed once I married and had 3 children. All teenagers now and I wonder where my trading money has gone. HA
I have been reading this forum for some time and decided that I would join in so I could so a few guns and ask some questions.
Looking forward to meeting everyone...

Greetings and Salivations!

I'm pretty new to exercising my natural right to bear arms, but I have come to the conclusion that a gun in my possession is a lot safer for me than one that isn't in my possession. I own a Springfield XD .40 S&W, and a Marlin 15 YN. Like a number of gents on this forum, I am intrigued by the lever action rifles, but I am fatally cheap and will probably go the .40 cal carbine route to save money on equipment and ammunition. I have to say though that the Henry Big Boy in the .44 magnum caliber is really awesome. I think the folks at the gun shop are tired of me coming in and "checking out the action!"

I am just beginning to enjoy the art and science of reloading. Thankfully, I learn pretty fast for an old guy. I'm finding that there is nothing quite like sitting in the basement and pulling the handle of the turret press. It's like being in Vegas, but actually coming out of it with something to show for your efforts!

I live in what might be the very worst state for victim disarmament laws. Apparently, you have to be a prosecuting attorney or a judge to easily get a Conceal Carry Permit.

I know I'll learn a lot from this forum, and I hope that over time, I will be a help to others here. Cheers!

Welcome to THR.ORG. This is kind of left field, but the TV ad (Geico) cracks me up and could apply to guns as many ask what the value of a certain gun is and so forth... I think that bird in the hand is worth two in the bush! :D

Hey folks, another newbie here. I have used THR for reference on several occasions and found it to be one of the best discussion groups on the web so I thought 'why not join the best?' I have been working in some of America's best prisons for the last 16 years, I love to hunt with my son and am a self-described gun nut. I love firearms and just about everything that goes with them.
