Lurking for years, finally joined!

Hello everyone, I've been lurking for years but finally decided to take the plunge. I've been impressed with the vast level of knowledge members of this board have and hope that I may be able to contribute from time to time.
 
Hey guys, I always think it's polite to say "Hi I'm Trent" before jumping in on conversations that are mid-way in process. :)

I held an FFL from Oct 06 to Oct 09, primarily for gunsmithing but also for firearms sales, then moved out to the country. I didn't feel like going through the process again, so I let it drop. Also had an ammo manufacturing FFL for the same time period, but didn't ever make use of it. (Hey, it was $25, I figured "why not?").

Kicked around the idea for a bit of getting a manufacturing license and SOT to build up some kits and play, but already have one job and five kids. Which leaves me with neither money nor time to build anything. (Or play very often, for that matter!)

I've done a lot of reloading over the last 15 years, from 9mm up to 50BMG. Mainly I like long range bolt action rifles, which I'm pretty comfortable with. I've also been known to occasionally go make a fool out of myself at pin shoots or IPSC matches with my rather lousy pistol skills.

My views are practical, don't care much about gear, as long as it serves a purpose and works as intended, without so much marketing hype blowing it out of proportion. :)

Hi, my name is Doug and I recently got out of the Navy. Being surrounded by weapons made them seem like appliances but, now that I'm out I miss my 240 very much.

I've started researching the best Rifle for whatever the situation would call for. 9 times out of 10 my topic search lands me here. I'm not much for posting on threads but, I've found this site to be informative enough to join and Occasionally contribute.

I currently own a Rock Island 1911, I want a Beretta 92 and a vz-58. And possibly a misc 308. (saiga, RFB, FN AR, 91... etc I don't really care :):cool:
 
Hi I am a new member

I am a Florida resident, I applied for my carry license and received it in less than two weeks. My interest is mainly handguns. I may develope an interest in long guns. I had a model 60 S&W back in the early 70s but ended up selling it, I just aquired another Model 60 the other day. My other gun is a FNHUSA FNX9 which I consider a very good weapon. I belong to and go on a watch forum. I need to learn how to post pictures. I have a fair sized collection of watches. I belonged and may still belong to a Lexus owners forum. I am I guess you would say a "selective" compulsive buyer. I have at least 2 dozen watches, I have more shoes than I can count. I have 3 laptop computers all three are in working order and 1 desk top which if I were to hook it up would most likely work. I have become interested in photography only to buy more than one camera only to almost never take pictures. Most things I buy I research thoroughly before buying. Hope to learn something on this forum.
 
Hawaiian 20 Gauge Double Naught Hunt

I got a new 20 gauge pump shotgun here in Kona two months ago. The gun laws are strict here, but it was pleasant to meet the required tasks with good cheer. To hunt the pigs on my acres of dense christmasberry forest, I have only slugs, because 00 buckshot is only seen in Mainland ads. I am trying to buy ammo here on the Island of Hawaii. Local stores on my island have few choices for the 20 gauge Remington 870 Express. (The laser sight was approved by a state biologist in a phone call. He is on a team of Hawaiian State workers who are now re-writing the hunting regulations). Ammo for my shotgun includes only one slug brand that fits the modified choke. (Win. Super X, 3/4 oz. ). The photo shows the Slug Gun with the red laser dot visible next to the sunset's glare.

I am just an old country boy that likes to hunt and fish. My son in law gave me an old Smith and Wesson 38 special, serial # S 822362. I would like to know more about it. Any help would be appreciated. How old is it? What's it worth?

I am a member of a small town Rifle and Pistol Club. I shoot Bullseye Pistol, Light Rifle and a occasional Highpower Rifle. I used to shoot Smallbore Rifle, Air Pistol and Air Rifle and Trap. Greetings, everyone.

I'm here from the great State of Indiana.

My background includes L/E, DOC, bodyguard, and security (both private and executive).

I'm affiliated with guns for hunting, plinking, and self-defense reasons. Mostly I'm here know relative to SD carrying, and that currently comprises most of my daily exposure.

What I carry on a day-to-day basis really depends on a multitude of factors including the season, my attire, specific need, and so forth. I may carry one gun, maybe more, just depends.

I don't personally suscribe to the "too big" or "too small" to carry philosophy about handguns. So some here may find me "too moderate" when engage in those debates. As I've carried quite a variety, I can usually make a pretty good case for almost any handgun, from "pea-shooter" to "hand cannon". :)

I only preface my discussions on THR with that at this time as I've previously posted on other forums that have ridiculous prohibitions on the subject. One forum simply prohibited ANY discussion of small caliber handguns other then the venerable .22. NO discussion was allowed for calibers such as the .25, .32, .380. Mind-numbing.

Anyway, there's a bit of background. Look forward to chatting with you on the various forums!

.30 Inland Carbine

My father worked at Inland during WWII in purchasing and expiditing. I believe it was in Nov. 1942 that he was presented the carbine that I stiil have. I say Nov. 1942, becacuse the barrel is stamped " Inland Mfg. Co,. 11-42. Behind the rear sight is stamped X 91. It did have a Piano Finish, but a friend took the rifle and removed the finish, from what looks like a walnut stock. Dad said that all parts were within the tolorances set down. It has been fired, but that was when I was just a boy. Does anyone have an idea of what I may have, regarding history and value? Thanks

I live in the Communist Gun Grabbing State of California, don't hold it against me I'd rather be someplace else. Into Mauser and Milsurp. Hobbies: Surfing the Web all day for any sign of ammo or other Goodies, not much left not there after the Bush and Obama Administration's.

Note: Cmp is totally out of -06 except for only Hornady;$259 for 220 rnd, and loose Greek in an ammo can, "200 loose" is $98 P.S. Anyone have any "Preperation- H" for those M1 carbine Prices.

Hi everyone. I "stumbled" onto the THR when looking for inform on moving a gun safe. Wow, what a great source of information from those of similar interest.
I am retired now in TEXAS which makes time for shooting that 'work' got in the way. I am Life NRA, NRA Certified instructor, Texas Parks & Wildlife Hunter Eduction instructor, TSSA, and instructor in firearms -- handgun, rifle, shotgun for "Introduction to handguns" for those who never had the opportunity. Also several Front Sight Courses completed. ( Life member) Looking forward to learning and contributing to THR.

Hey guys new to the High Road community from Nashville. Clays, targets, hunting, its all good. Own an FNP9, Remington 870, and a Remington 30-06. Looking in to getting a good AR in the very near future so I'll be asking a few questions. Nice to meet y'all.
