Hi everyone, my name is Tim and I am a new member. Very happy to have found this sight as I have lots of questions. My dad was a ww2 vet who served in north africa and italy. He came home with 3 purple hearts and 2 bronze stars but never did want to teach me about guns even though he served as weapons sgt. Maybe he just could'nt bear to talk about it, I don't know. He left me a smith and wesson .22 pump and a foremost 12 guage along with a .32 mauser whice I rarely took out of their cases because I didn't have any idea how to break down, clean or shoot for that matter. After moving to texas from california though, my interest was stirred by being surrounded by so many gun owners who shared they're passion for guns and encouraged me to pursue my long dormant passion. The collection started with a beretta 9mm then a colt argentina .45, followed by 2 winchester .30-.30s. Now it's grown quite a bit and continues but still struggle with take down on most of them and look forward to having someplace to find answers to these questions and the ones to come.

Good Evening. I am jpod and I am a mystery/thriller author. I need some assistance with a technical point for my current novel. Is there a handgun that has the serial number located in more than one place? So, if a perpetrator obliterates the serial number of a stolen gun, the serial number may be present in another area (e.g. under the grip, etc) that would allow the police to prove that he is the person who stole it? I would need to know the make and model of this gun. Thank you.

My name is Derek, a noob handgun owner in OKC, OK.
I have always owned shotguns (DB .410, bolt action .410, pump 12 ga, and my fav- Model 97 Winchester 12 ga) and a few small caliber rifles.

I just picked up a FNX-9 which is a great piece. several co-workers want one after feeling it and seeing my (very) dead silhouettes. I will be getting a CCL and probably pick up a subcompact 9 and a full size .40/.357 sig.

great board to share knowledge and ask questions, I should be browsing/posting fairly often.

Hello, my name is David and live in Minnesota, I hunt, fish, reload and enjoy being outside. I carry a 1911 colt in .45acp daily. I joined THR so I could learn more about reloading older blackpowder cartridges. I have reloaded ,45acp since 1985. I have a Marlin lever action 1894 from 1895 in 44-40 and a Winchester 1892 from 1908 in 32-20 I plan on reloading for both of these and cant decide if i want to use smokeless or black. I have a 1895 cowboy Marlin from 2009 in 45-70 and a Winchester 1894 from 1927 in .32 Winchester Special. I reload those two using smokeless, but have thought about trying the .32 with black. I like shooting and hunting with ball and cap revolvers. I like deer hunting with the easy to carry 1894 Winchester. I also enjoy .22 cal rimfires.

Recently moved to the east coast (New Jersey) from Idaho. My family loves to shoot and had a lot of choices on what and where we could shoot. Our new residence has proven more difficult. I found this site while exploring opportunities to get the family into competition shooting. THR looks like a great forum and I'm looking forward to getting more into the information in THR.

Kinda A New Member

Hello All, I signed up here many years ago and used to read until I fell asleep. Did post but maybe a handful of times. Stuck around a few years and got too busy to get on.
Since then I have changed computers, addresses and probably a few jobs. I'll be damned if I can remember my screen name so I just signed up again.

It's good to be back reading THR once again.

Hello from NC

I've used firearms since I was 10 years old and today am considered a geezer by those in my family and elsewhere I travel. By my handle I had a great interest in the old Model 70 Winchester's but have sold all my old rifles. The only 70 I have presently is a new clawfeed Featherweight. For some reason I have a bunch of handguns that I don't care much for but they just seem to come my way when I rub shoulders with my shooting buddies, anyone else have that problem, if so, I like to know how to cure the sickness.;)

New to Forum.

Hi, I to am a gunaholic:) Thank you for THR as I really enjoy doing research and learning more about the guns that I am working with. I am new to THR but have been shooting and hunting all of my life. I do a little gunsmithing and love shooting my pistols a lot and am now learning to shoot my double action Glock for a change. I really love shooting rifle also. I think that shooting steel targets is the most fun. I think that shooting AR15s are a blast. My eyes are wide open on the subject of Politics and am very active in emailing my state leaders such as our Senators and Congressmen and I please urge you to do the same. I watch Fox News and stay educated by the NRA also Human Events and Newsmax and really don't depend on the other news networks. My goal is to defend our Constitution and to vote out any Politition that doesn't. I love our Country and enjoy being an American and enjoy our freedoms. Please do the same. Thanks for reading all of that, and thank you for having me in your forums,
Gary.

Hello all, just another new guy checking in...been around firearms almost all of my adult life, having served 9+ years in the military, both in intelligence and special operations, and 14+ years in LE. I'm currently a Patrol Sergeant in a municipal police department of about 120 officers in Southwestern CT. I'm a Field Training Officer Supervisor, Pursuit/Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, former member of our plainclothes Crime Suppression Unit, and Court Liaison/Warrant Officer. I served in the US Army, both Active Duty & CT National Guard, for a total of 9 1/2 years (from '89-'98) with the large majority of that on AD. I served with the LRS/LLVI teams at 102d MI Bn 2nd Inf Div in the ROK as a 98G Voice Interceptor (Korean) before PCSing to the 2nd Bn 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Ft Lewis, WA, where I was in the MID as a SOT-A team member. I was cross trained as an 18E SF Commo Sgt. and attached to ODA-144 (MFF/HALO) and ODA-142 in A Co. I have also attended Ranger School, LRS Leader Course, Jumpmaster School, SERE-High Risk, and several other military schools/courses. I also was one of many first responders that assisted at Ground Zero immediately following the aftermath of 9/11/01.

I've trained at Blackwater USA, and other training facilities, and with Rob Pincus of Combat Focus Shooting/ICE and Jason Falla of Redback One. I'm hoping to get into some competitions this year, like IDPA and multi/3-gun stuff, for some extracurricular fun and training.

I'm looking forward to meeting new people with similar likes, sharing my knowledge and experiences, and learning from others as well. Thanks for having me.

New York newbie

Greetings all. Great to be a member of this fine forum and I hope to learn from you all. I suffer from milsurpitis and have a penchant for wringing out the accuracy in some of these old war-horses, which includes minor smithing and reloading. Some new production firearms also seem to find there way into my safes as well. I'm currently eye-balling the Ruger Gunsite .308 but I need to know more about the M77 "bull barrel". Let the search begin :D

Hi from the hills of Arkansas

Hey all,

Glad to find this forum, and hope to be able to add something of value to the boards as time passes. To all of you who serve or have served, Military or Law Enforcement, thank you.

Hi Swede. It was nice hearing from you. I have a Swedish Mauser in the 6.5 x 55 caliber and it shoots great! I took it on a hunt to Alabama a few years ago, but all I got to shoot with it was an Ace of Spades playing card tacked to a tree 100 yards away. I could hardly see it at that distance, but I nailed it right in the center of the card! What a great gun! Open iron sights, factory, stock military. Wouldnt trade it for anything. Has the Carl Gustof imprint on it too. One of my favorites.

Hi All,

I am new here. I have browsed a bit but look forward tobrowsing and learning more.

I recently got into shooting and firearms in general. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Utah CFP.

I will be traveling through UT, ID, MT and WY for work and wanted to carry without much worry of breaking any laws so I was happy to see that Utah's CFP has reciprocity in all those States.

I recently posted a question regarding Montana, purchase laws, etc in the general discussion forum. Any info you have is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hey all.
I'm Shawn. Prior Navy (a little over 9 years), federal law enforcement officer (no I won't tell you where ;) ) and I'm into most guns, I guess. I have an HK USP in .40, Interarms Virginian dragoon .44 mag, .444 Marlin rifle, M1 garand in .308, 10 guage shotgun, and I carry a Glock 22 at work (which is one of the best pistols I've ever shot). My dream rifle would be an M1A, and hopefully my next handgun will be a 1911.

Hello from Portugal

Hello, my name is João and I live in Portugal (Europe).

I'm into all that has to do with guns :)

I currently own a HK P30 and love it.

Love shotting the Ruger 10/22 and PPK\s.

Being in active duty gives me the chance to shoot several weapons, wich in most European countries is hard if you're a civilian :(
