I'm almost exclusivily a handgun shooter but I enjoy shooting anything and everything. I'm a probation officer and auxilary deputy with the sheriff's office. I carry a Sig 226 as my duty weapon. I am always looking at guns and adding to my list of guns I want.
 
New to the forum, veteran shooter

Hello. I belong to another well known gun forum, but I've come across so many posts from this forum using Google that I thought it would be a great idea to sign up for this forum.

I am in the legal profession. I shoot rifles, pistols, revolvers and black powder firearms.

I currently have a modest collection of firearms:
1) Ruger 10/22
2) Marlin 795 (also a .22LR)
3) Ruger MKIII
4) Norinko SKS
5) Mosin Nagant
6) Beretta Cheetah 85FS (My CCW)
7) Pietta 1858 Remington New Army Revolver (black powder .44)

Hope to learn from all of you here, and to be able to share my experiences with you.
 
What is your location Oliver? May be one of us are near by and can introduce you to the real experience of guns, shooting, and the other activities these entail. I'm in Alaska!
 
New guy from Texas here. Name is Alex and I just started purchasing and firing guns around march of this year. My first firearm was a Glock 21 Gen 3. I've modified it with a 3.5lbs connector, reduced power firing pin spring, lighter firing pin safety spring, increased power trigger spring, 25 cent polish job and a lone wolf stainless steel guide rod with ISMI 17lbs spring. My second purchase was an Arsenal SGL-21-71 ak 47 chambered in 7.62x39. I've added a mako recoil reducing 6 position stock, ATI ergo pistol grip, mako upper and lower hand guard, 3 tapco 30 round polymer mags with pro mag magazine clamp, tapco G2 single hook trigger and a folding fore end grip. I still have some other practical goodies I want to put on my ak but for the most part my glock is finished. Considering a aftermarket barrel but who knows.

new to the forum...

hey guys, (and gals, i presume) just joined in with you mostly because of my interest in hand loading. i've been learning a lot by reading and have a few questions i haven't been able to clear up. my main interest in firearms is for hunting, though i take self-defense very seriously. i view the second amendment as a description of a right given by God, not congress. I am a Christian and i try to do all things in life in a way that points others to God. i hope i can benefit all of you at least as much as you are a benefit to me.
 
Hi, I prefer not to divulge my first name because my last name can be easily inferred from my signature (just google it) and I am a fan of internet anonymity. I am 24 years old and I live in Michigan. Euphemistically, I consider myself a gentleman of superior girth, but really I'm just fat and I don't have a problem with that. I have a BS in Psychology and I will soon be attending graduate school for Social Work. I hope to eventually earn my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and plan on working with veterans and soldiers to reduce the effects of combat stress reaction induced PTSD and hopefully to reduce the likelihood of it presenting in the first place by developing a cognitive-behavioral CSR tolerance program for the military and/or federal government.

I have been shooting guns since I was eight years old when my father "gave" me his .22 Ruger Autoloading rifle. I recently purchased a breach-action single-shot shotgun from my uncle for $50 and have equiped it with a flashlight for home defense. It's locked upstairs in a piecekeeper (TM), so I also plan to carry a handgun on my person when awake. I haven't decided yet whether I am going to get a model 1911 or a Makarov.

The merits of each gun balance each other out as far as I'm concerned. There is something to be said for owning a bona fide piece of Americana, like the 1911, but I also get the feeling that utilizing good ol' fashion capitalism to buy a Soviet weapon and using it to defend my constitutional rights would cause Gorbachev to roll over in his grave, a thought that is fundamentally pleasing to me.

My recent need to arm myself derives from two separate sources. One: I recently moved to a depressed area known for drug rings and dog fighting wherein I don't really feel all that safe possessing so little martial prowess. Two: my wife just gave birth to our first child and I'll be damned if I'll be helpless to defend them from danger; be it danger from her psychotic gang-banger Ex or the run-of-the-mill hoods I'm pretty sure cased my house last week.

I'm here to ask questions and learn. My knowledge of guns is mostly academic and I appreciate the value of real-world experience. Thanks for being, consistently, the most reliable source that I have used for finding information on guns and I hope that in time I can become a valued member of this forum with the knowledge necessary to answer questions as well as ask them.

New to the board, not to shooting

Hi all, 1911NUT signing in. Been shooting all my life, with prefered weapons being pistols(1911's of course). I have a small yet rapidly expanding collection of weapons, but always looking for more.

Let's see, I'm 22 and I've been an avid gun fan all my life, but I only recently became a gun owner (mom wasn't keen on them so i had to wait until I moved out and my landlord in college prohibited them).

I'm big on service weapons. I've always been a history buff and a military buff so if it wasn't carried by a military it usually doesn't interest me. I'm also not big on modifications. I realize I may be shooting myself in the foot (ha ha) in the Personal Defense department with such an attitude, but I think I'll be fine.

Currently only own a Single Action Army and a 1911 copy. SAA pulls double-duty as a carry gun and nightstand gun. That may seem silly, but I'm pretty damn good with a single action.

That's about it I guess...

Hello to both wise men and wise guys. I've been a leach on this site for some time, using your expertise to help in my purchasing ventures. I figured it's about time I actually jump in rather than acting like a peeping tom.
 
Intro:

I am 25, a Navy Vet (HM2 FMF). I enjoy hunting, when I have the chance to, which is not often enough. I also shoot amature competition at my local club, small bore rifle and concealed carry pistol (not real IDPA just "our" little thing). I really want to get in to Appleseed, but there isn't any within 175 miles of me.

The guns: Currently, I only own a Dimondback DB380 (my CCW) and a Marlin model 795.
Previously I have owned and carried: Glock 19, Sig P232, Ruger SP101, Ruger LCR (357). I now wonder how I let all those good guns go...
 
I am new to the site enjoy guns mainly just target shooting. I live in Arizona I have an AR-15 and several pistols.

Name here is Paul... I like this site... well moderated.

I am from southern New Hampshire, and have been a gun enthusiast since 1990... I belong to the Pelham Fish & Game in NH. I don't hunt, but just put holes in paper (and water jugs).
My favorites are .44Mag and .50Mag in handguns, as well as 1911's.
For rifles, .308, 300 WinMag, and a few others.
My most recent attraction has been full-auto, including an MP5, an M60, and a Ma Deuce, though I find these things hungry to feed. ;-)
I reloaded for a long time, but I don't tend to do that much anymore (though it may start up again).

Anyway, I am happy to have found this site.... and look forward to talking with many of you.

+1 on the sardines, I don't drink alcohol, and I limit the hot stuff to hotwings or BBQpork with Chinese mustard (wasabee is not my style) how ever I might occasionally put some Frank's hot sauce in the sardines!
