new guy

so i'm the new guy. i'll have to admit this forum has answered a few questions of mine in the past by coming across it during a google search. seems like a great place glad to join. I'll be EASing from the Marine Corp in december and moving back to Illinois. Never was around guns much as a kid but i cant get enough of em now. Currently I have an XD 45 tactical, an AR mut and just picked up a mossberg 500 cruiser at the cross roads of the west show over the weekend. Take care guys.

Hi my name is J.D.

Been browsing this site on and off for a longer than id like to admit and figured i might as well just join. Hope to learn as much as i can.

Good Morning, Gentlemen...

Well, after a few years of having this site come up first in my goggle searches whenever i have a firearms query, I've finally taken the hint and joined, as I have found the mot useful answers on this forum. Although I'm somewhat new to this site, I am pretty familiar to general forum etiquette and will do my best to abide by your rules and regs. In time I hope to be able to help those who have helped me understand a few things about my weapons that I would not have known otherwise, but for now I'm going to become familiar with the layout and hopefully get some answers.

I'm a proud Texan living in the Dallas area, studying to become an EMT, and owner of CA Undercover .38, Glock 22, Ithica 37 12ga., Remington 700 .308 and 870 12ga., and a Stag M8L .556.

I'm looking forward to our discussions but should tell y'all up front that I'm not fluent in technical terms but am ready and willing to learn. Therefore I ask for your patience when I inevitably ask you to explain something to me like a five-year old. Like I said though, I want to learn and I pick up quick so let's get to it.

New guy from Missouri(Kearney), married, four step sons of which two are retired from the airforce. I am a Viet Nam vet myself so we have our own little war about whos the best. I have shot just about everything but am now going back to shooting handguns due to an injury to the shoulder this past year. Handgun wise I shoot 22, 38, 357, 40, 44, and 45, i have revolvers and autos but am a wheel gun guy at heart. hi i just started refinishing firearms an ran it to a problem my first coat of birchwood casey tru oil stock finish will not dry. this stocks finish was removed with a high quality furniture remover that has worked well in the past the only difference this time was the use of oxalick acid to remove some dark spots. i did let it dry before the first coat of tru oil but it still will not dry, any one had this problem before.

Hello - I'm a new user from northern Virginia. I am 28 and am looking forward to purchasing my first firearm this weekend at The Nations Gun Show in Dulles.
I'm interested in all types of firearms from revolutionary war muskets to the latest and greatest.
I currently have a Daisy CO2 handgun and a CO2 'Splatmaster' paintball gun :) This weekend, I'll be looking for a 12-guage 870 and if I've not spent all my savings, a .22 bolt-action rifle.
I've been reading posts here for a while now, but have just joined this evening.

Hey Im John. I have been buying and selling guns for several years. I didnt realize I had an account till I tried to sign up (edit: didnt even realize I already did this once) and read more about my S&W M&P 360 I just got. Hello from Central FL! Glad to be here, and i'm also glad I live in FL where gun laws are very lax. I've been shooting pistols (semi-autos) for over a year and recently got into rifles when I purchased my first AR15.

Steve, I used to have a few acres in Marion County, down south, near Umatilla. My neighbor had a shooting range in his back yard, over 100 yards long, with a high earthen berm for a good back-stop. He'd practise with his long guns & hand guns any time he wanted to. He was a long time resident there, and was known by everyone, so it appears that there was no problem with doing that. You may want to check with the local LE to be sure, but, the less they know, the better. "Hunter"

Hi Folks,
I'm in upsate NY, interested in expanding both my knowledge and the number items in my modest collection of semi-autos (AR's AK's etc.) Hoepfully without making too many mistakes, having some fun and making friends along the way. I am a total novice and late to the hobby at 50+.
Cheers
