Greeting from a THR newb

Hi All,

I am new the The High Road, so I thought I would say Hi! I look forward to getting to know the Forum better and I am glad I stumbled on this site.

-Statureman

I've been a lurker here for the past couple months as I've been researching what handgun to buy for targets and personal defense (don't have CCW yet, but will go to classes soon).

I settled on a Ruger SR9c since I hope to carry it sometimes (probably not everywhere), and it also lets me put in 17 rd. mags at the range/for home defense situations (reloading a 10 round mag is pretty obnoxious).

I like THR because it seems to be one of the friendliest, most open forums for gun owners I've seen, and there's plenty of great advice, seasoned pros, and activity—but not so much that a newbie like me is intimidated!

Hi everyone. I'm obviously new to the site. I'm looking forward to asking questions and contributing to discussions. I've only recently been introduced to the world of gun ownership in the past year or two. I enjoy handguns and experiencing different types. I own a .22 Sig, a Kel Tec PF-9 for concealed carry and a Taurus Judge for the night stand. I have limited experience with shotguns and I know next to nothing about rifles. I'm always looking to add and subtract from my collection and l look forward to getting some informed advise.

Hi

Howdy from North Carolina,
I'm mostly into black powder guns of all types and have shot my fair share over the past 15 years or so, but now I'm getting interested in doing some gun smithing for black powder revolvers. I have a Colt 1851 Navy, a brass framed Confederate copy in .44, and a Remington pocket .31. I'm REALLY wanting to get my hands on a High Wall in 45-70 Gov't, but I ain't got th' money fer that yet!

Relatively new shooter--got into it because I live in one of the most dangerous places in the country and realized I had to have a CCW and adequate HD. Love sport shooting and am considering getting into hunting. current weapon calibers include 12g, 45acp, 380 acp, 357 mag, 5.56 and 9mm. Came here to study the hunting forums since choosing the right weapon/load is a tricky thing.

Hey everyone.
Well Im from NY and currently in the US Army. I have been using weapons my whole life for hunting, target shooting and self defense. I figured it would be nice to talk to people who share the same passion for weapons as I do. I currently have bee shooting my Springfield M1A Supermatch and my Remington 700 (.308) with some mods. I also carry my H&K USP Compact .40 or my Sig 1911 Tacops. I would like to get into competition shooting eventually.

New Member

Hello All...I love to hunt and shoot. Just finished my first rifle 700 project. Looking forward to spending some time here. I live in the great state of Idaho.

Howdy. I've been reading your forum for a long time now and figured it was about time I start contributing. I've been hunting and shooting for a long time, mostly collecting hunting firearms. I'm now getting ready to send off a couple Form 1's for a Sig P522 and Mini Draco SBR project. Anyway, thanks for having me.

Been here for a couple of months; been reading many months longer. Live within a couple of hours of the Mason-Dixon line. Like early 20th Century military rifles and defensive handguns. About two score years since I first fired a gun. Not yet 10k rounds into a budding reloading addicition but likely to pass that mark by next New Years. Suffer from a gun-unfriendly employer but have job tasks that entail dealing with persons at some elevated risk to be agitated/violent. Frequently share customers with on-duty LEO's. Don't support more laws restricting anything in general. Have infinitely more guns than I ever hope to need, more than I can carry and infinitely fewer than I would like to own.

Hi, I'm from the Midwest. My occupation is a Financial Adviser. When not working, my hobbies include hunting, fishing, golf...most any outdoor activity. I was a Range Officer in southern Wisconsin, forty years ago. I have been a LIFE member of the NRA for thirty-five years, and recently, made the upgrade to Endowment member.

Upstate New York

A big reason that I own and operate firearms is because I have a sacred right to. The Framers of the Constitution made if official. What I fear the most is a loss of US sovereignty, global control of currency and law, and disarmament of our citizenry.

I returned to shooting for several reasons. I hope to teach responsible marksmanship to my 3 children, shoot for sport, and self defense. I gave my son a 10/22 for his 13th birthday, he got bitten, and now we shoot together every week. I myself have a .223 bolt rifle. I am slowly gearing up for reloading .223 ammunition.

Waiting to 'pull the trigger' on my handgun application. Everything in my application is ready to go, except the money required for the down payment.

Times are tough, so paying for ammo and range time is a sacrifice. Until better times, this is my short term strategy to becoming a good rifleman and protecting home and family with what I already own.

I am glad to be here and hope to find intelligent discussions.

New to forum

Hello to the High Road forum members. I am a retired police officer after having served 29 plus years which followed a 4 year stint in the U.S.A.F. I have always loved shooting and shot competitively for around 12 years. I retired in 1999, thus the user name "Lawrelic". I have a Ruger Mini 14, new model, a Mossberg 930 12ga., a Henry lever .22 and my handgun is a XD45 tactical with ambi thumb safety. Over the years I have sent over a million rounds downrange, wore out some loaders and really have had a blast. I look forward to reading posts here and trying to learn more about the sport. Didn't realize the letter size was so big until I hit submit, sorry!

New guy from Iowa

Another new guy living in SW Iowa, enjoy shooting most anything but in particular trap and handguns, though am contemplating trying 3 gun. Lurked for awhile but finally decided to take the plunge and join.

Another greenhorn

Have heard good things about this forum for a while, so thought I'd sign on.

My dad started me shooting at about age 5 or 6, back in the '40s. Hunting has been my favorite activity since then, with the possible exception of my marriage 42 years ago.

The older I get, the more I find I don't know. I figure this forum will help.

Either had not found or had forgotten The High Road!

I had visited THR a time or two but have just now gotten around to registering.

Like most kids from my time and place, I was taught to shoot and hunt from as early as I can remember. Hunting has not appealed to me for decades, now, but my interest in guns and shooting continues.

As I have gotten older, I have felt more physically vulnerable. My interest has largely turned to defensive weapons. I have enjoyed taking several basic handgun and defensive carbine classes.

I look forward to learning and actively participating here on THR.

Just got on, but no time to give all details, SO, HOWLdy from REDWOLF!
I'll be BACH(even tho I don't play the pianee!) ;)

OK, I'm into Cap&Ball pieces. Just like the history, shooting & ability to work on my own pieces. I learned
real facts from a man I "adopted" & called him DAD. The 1st thing he taught me about BP:"Before you
take your boots off, CLEAN your gun!" I've got some very nice repro's from the 40's & 50's that he
found for me. He was a gunsmith extrodinaire & one of Dixie Gun Works 1st customers. Some here
might have heard his name. J. Dan Grice, he passed in 2006. Guess I'm telling more about him than me
but what he taught me was invaluable & priceless. The name GRICE was famous for "brown-bess"
flintlocks.
Anyway, I'm here to gain some knowledge & to maybe share what I know that you don't.

IT professional from NC here. Like others, I've been "lurking" for awhile - seems that most of my queries land me here eventually. I hope to be helpful, and I enjoy the atmosphere so far.

I'm a proud owner of a Beretta PX4 (40SW), a WASR 10, Rem 870 Express, LeFever 20 ga SxS, and am in the market for several more. I reload, and love that hobby in and of itself.

Glad to be here.

IT pro from Texas, Young father and devoted Husband, I do not currently own a firearm but I'm ready to buy, I'm here because I enjoy learning new things.

Hi all,
Have had lots of changes since I last logged in. Opening a shooting range, beginning a new company here called Total Marksman Arizona Division. Been a bit busy. I have pictures of this rifle but it has no manufacturing info on it. It has markings on it that are Model 1, "5208" on (trigger guard), .22 cal.smokeless CTO" (stamped on barrel), and uses a clip.Does anyone know what it is? Thanks

Another new guy here. I'm a New Yorker, transplanted to northern Alabama. New to gun ownership, having recently purchased a Ruger LC9 pistol, and a Mosin-Nagant 1891/30.

Introduction

Hi everyone,

I joined today so I thought that I would introduce myself. I did not see a introduction section, so if there is one my apologies for posting in this section.

I'm from Cape Town in SA. I own a Luger M-80 9mm (copy of P-35 BHP) which is my normal carry weapon. Shoots straight, is reliable and is comfortable for me. Next up that I want to get is a .45 and a shotgun which will happen later this year if everything goes well.

It's great to be here and I'm sure that I will find your site and members as great and informative as I have found those on Gunsite in SA. :D

Keep well.
