My name is Scott. 48 year old prior service Marine with 5 grown kids and 5 grandkids (6 in August). Two of my girls served in the military. Forearms are a hobby but I'm hoping to do some gunsmithing for extra cash in the near future. I like older guns from the WW1 era and newer.

Just signed up!

Hello all,

I just joined your site and I am looking forward to chatting with you. I like all types of guns and shooting. I have been a Life Member of the NRA since 1969 and was the founder/ president of the Northern Nevada Chapter of Safari Club International. Double rifles are my passion and hunting Africa is great fun. I reload my own ammo and enjoy target and trap shooting as well. I was also a licensed FFL for nearly 20 years and had a lot of fun doing different gun shows.

Hello all. The name is Ryan Weatherby, from Western Colorado. I've been creepin' on this site forever, and decided I should probably just join it. Been into shooting for a few years. Getting ready to take the 'reloading' dive, and just trying to get as much info as humanly possible before I take the plunge. Love the site, and it seems like there is alot of good folks on here. :)

Hello all from Tennessee, look forward to some great conversations and help when needed.

Hi! I'm a 22 year old gun enthusiast In Colorado I digress a ABSOLUTE sickness to Glocks if only because I have ever competed against glock addicts whom will hear of no other gun...period.

My guns are as list as of post date:
A Springfield Armory 1911A1 in .45
A S&W M&P Pro in .40 S&W
A Taurus Raging Judge in .45 LC/.410 Ga./ .454 Casull
A Sig Sauer Sig556 .223/5.56X45mm
And last but not least A Thompson M1928A1 .45 ACP Carbine (semi-auto only, 16 inch barrel) it was my first foray in automatics of any kind
I greatly appreciate any gun wisdom that is as unbiased as possible, but a friendly comparison is always welcome as well... I'm the first to admit I don't know everything but can get well read into it if it intrigues me...and I'm fairly fond of most firearms

Hi Chowder and welcom to the site. I'm 'Hunter' from South Florida and have been thinking about getting a Glock 23 for concealed carry. Having owned one for some time, what is your opinion of your '23' for concealed carry? Is it that much different from the Glock 22?

Hi to all. My name is Anton and I'm from another side of planet. Glad to join your community.
I'm a hunter and I'm planning to be a practical shooter. First thing I come here for is to learn US legislation on guns.

Also I'm interested in precise shooting, but I will be able to buy a rifle only at 2014 - when my shotgun license will be 5 years old. Damn our laws.

new member

past is all lever guns and now interested in some long range bolt rifle shooting and possibly AR style rifles.;)

Hi! My Name is Kevin, but as my last name is Mulkey everyone in Georgia calls me Mulk. Long time lurker, first time poster who may need some advice on a new gun soon.

Since the age of 18 I have only own one rifle a Stevenson 62f (aka now as the Savage Model 64F) and I have always managed to at least go through a few hundred rounds a year through it.

I was a Eagle Scout and still a bit of a outdoors type unless it's late June to the end of August, and my best friend is a now retired from the Army after 15 years.

At the moment we are both drifting toward recreational shooting together to hang out along with his new wife who packs a .357 magnum revolver. (type unknown, but that think looks as long as my rifle.)

Now all I have to do is finally upgrade to something other then my little Savage to something little more interesting.

Perhaps a Ruger SR-22 pistols, or perhaps one of those new Savage Model 42's I saw a picture of assuming they get rid of the Kit from Nightrider look.

But just wanted to delurk and say hi finally as I spend so much time reading the forums.

Hello

Hello everyone. My name is Scott. In my 50's, wife of 32 years, 4 sons, 1 a Marine, formerly with HQ Company (PMO), 29 Palms. Have a small arsenal of pistols and revolvers. Live in the KC area. Have had more jobs than Frank Sinatra sings about in "That's Life"; haven't been a king but was a mayor in a Missouri 4th class city making the Police Department my sole responsibility - didn't have to share with the Board of Aldermen. So...to help the small force out, I was certified a Class A Peace Officer. Carried the 1st Gen Glock 19. In fact, convinced the Board of Aldermen to buy Glock 17's for all street officers. In 1989 that was a radical thing in my neck of the woods. Had a couple of wheel gun guys none to happy but the majority was very happy.

Sometime after that I was ordained as a minister of the Gospel, which brings me to explain about my stupid handle - Holyman - which I am NOT, at least the majority of the time. But shortly after taking office as mayor I had a local wacko, a huge bear of a man in his 60's or 70's, walk into City Hall and in front of me, my Chief of police, the city clerk and the city collector and calmly say he was going to kill me when he had the chance. He was a bit busy at the moment. His message delivered he thanked us for our attention. I said, "You're welcome." Before I could turn to go to my office my Chief pressed an ancient Colt .25ACP in my hand and whispered, "Use this until you can find something better. JoeBlow will kill you if he remembers he made the threat." So...Class A certification and a Glock 19 "hot."

All this got me thinking about my Faith and if I would have to put JoeBlow down (or at least piss him off with a mag full of .25's It really would have been a toss up between this guy and a Grizzly) Romans 13 says the Authority God "ordains" - & by extension, all the way down to policemen - are God's "servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment to the wrongdoer." Ok, I can put JoeBlow down with a clear conscience if necessary; I was an agent of wrath. Joe did try to take me out once. My city vehicle, an unmarked Dodge Diplomat looked rather like another citizen's in town. The Sheriff informed me that Joe t-boned this poor guy into a tree at high speed thinking he was me...both Joe and the other driver were ok, more or less. That Dodge highway patrol package was one tough mother. That said, I am most partial to Crown Vics.

Now, I am just a citizen. The State of Kansas says I have the right to carry a concealed weapon and to use it if necessary and under review of the State. I have been dying to get a permit well, since 92. But conscience has once again kicked in. I'll be applying for a permit soon. Unlike some of you who have permits or who are certain beyond a doubt you do have the right of self defense (and that is VERY OK with me) I will still have doubts each time one of my battery goes into my waistband - except when it comes time to take action. That battery btw is a 4 gun rotation: Eva, a Ruger SR22 .22LR; Magda, a Beretta Model 70 .22LR; Chief, my 1st Gen Glock 19, and Providence, a .45ACP, Smith & Wesson, Semi-Auto Chief's Special (yes, it does exist, look in the catalogs for "CS-45" And maybe just for fright value, my as yet unnamed Charter Arms .44SPL Bulldog.

Well...that's it for now.

Hi I'm new from Colorado, Military and very family oriented. I'm just now learning to reload my own rounds and have only done 10 good ones and two bad ones so far. Haven't had a chance to shoot them yet. I have a lot to learn and not much to offer, yet. I have skills in other areas and usually learn everything I can on the hobby I'm into at the time and then taper off and pick up something else. I know a little about Ham, a lot about locks, GPS, computers and prepping. I love fishing, outdoors and hunting and have 3 daughters who are my life. Married 12 years and military for 15.

Been lurking for years.
Finally decided to join.
Don't talk much (helps me avoid looking stupid).
Favorite rifle: Browning 1885 in .270

Hello. I am a student in Melbourne, FL, currently enrolled to Florida Tech. I aspire to be a mechanical engineer, and as such, I have some interest in weaponry. I currently own 2 Mosins, a G98 Mauser, a T99 Arisaka and I aim to purchase a TT33 eventually. I wrote a senior project on 7.62x54R vs 7.62 NATO in terms of stopping power, and I have also begun to accurize one of my Mosins, I need to find time to finish it.

I am not yet a member of the NRA, but I guess I will do it eventually.
