Hello all. First time posting here.

I have a gorgeous Savage MarkII Maco that I just Cerakoted with Armor Black. Looks great.

I have one problem. I want to Cerakote the bolt but I don't know how to disassemble it. I can't bake it in the oven until I remove the spring but darn if I can figure out how to get it apart.

Anyone have a suggestion. Even Savage said they couldn't/wouldn't help.

New Guy - Retired Gun Writer

Hi All,

I just signed on today.

I was a gun writer for about 25 years. I started with Wolfe Publishing (Handloader and Rifle), skipped to Guns & Ammo and eventually ended up scribbling the final fifteen years at Varmint Hunter Magazine.

My writing specialties were handloading and precision rifles.

I've hunted a great deal in our western states, plus British Columbia, Alberta (lots), the Yukon Territory, Zimbabwe and the Northern Transvaal of the RSA. Our home is quite literally a "Dead Petting Zoo."

Karen, my wife of 49+ years, has been my constant hunting and shooting companion. She was called "Old Deadeye" in lots of my articles.

Today, we are both 70 years of age and relatively busted-up from an active and rather fun life. We had to stop hunting a few years ago, simply because we were no longer physically able.

We are devout Roman Catholics and are daily communicants. We have many parish ministries and truly enjoy simply helping other folks.

Dear all,

It's been a while since I registered to this forum, but I actually never posted.

A couple of days ago I found some very interesting threads over Google, and remembered that I got a nickname here, so I started browsing a bit.

My named is John, I'm a mechanical engineer from Germany born 1980 and started shooting in 1996. I ended up with CAS, but also own a Glock 22, and at this time I'm about to start reloading.

New guy here

Came across this site thought I'd give it a shot. I'm from Pike Co. Indiana, live in this area for 24+ years. 58 yrs. old and looking forward to retirement. Married (3rd time) have 1 son and 3 grandchildren and 4th grandchild coming in October. Have very small gun collection, 32 - 36 firearms, don't really remember. Everything from .22 cal pistols to BFR 45/70 revolver, rifles from
.22 cal to 45/70 Sharps.

Came across the site while looking for some revolver info.

I'm Dave and live in Southern California. I have a Dan Wesson .357 revolver, with a 6" barrel, a Ruger MKII and an Astra .44 Magnum CTG with a 6" barrel. Also have some long guns.

Hi All New Here But not to Personal Protection

I'm 64 live in Ocala Florida, Beleave in Stand your ground Law, Carry a Ruger LCP 24/7 and a SR9C in cooler months. I shoot at R&D Tactical in Ocala at least once a week to practice my Point & Shoot. My son and 13 yr old grandson also shoot. You can never be to prepared.
 
Hi all, new member here. Just found the board a few days ago; looks like a good place to visit!

I don't have a ton of experience with guns although I am learning more as I go along. I know the basics but have minimal training, and haven't shot nearly as much as I'd like to. Once I'm in a bit better financial shape I'll be getting training from some local folks. I own two handguns right now (a Glock 23 and a Taurus PT-99); don't own any rifles as of yet.

I've lived in Maryland, Alaska, and Delaware, and each has their own flavor of gun laws. Alaska's obviously the best (with constitutional carry). Maryland's horrible. Delaware's not great but easily not the worst (at least open carry is legal w/o a permit). Hopefully more states will be like AK / VT / AZ / etc. in the future.

Random thing about me: I'm mostly right handed but shoot left (I'm left-eye dominant). It works for me.

Hello everyone. Just joined today. I'm retired, interested in knife collecting and (mostly) handguns. I do like the traditional long guns, do not like the new black guns. No disrespect but I think the current black gun frenzy is generated by spec-ops and swat wannabes. I'm attending my CCW class in Sept. Lotta drug crazzies where I live consequently many break-ins and attacks. We seniors are often targeted. I'll be looking for advice on concealed carry and other firearm related info.
 
New to the forum

Just found this forum and really like the standards set.
I just relinquished to my son my trusty 1187 and upgraded to the Benelli Montefeltro LH. As a "lefty" I've been shooting the Remington 1187 and putting up with the gas in the face for the past several years. Not too long ago I went skeet shooting with a friend that has the Benelli LH and I fell in love with it! Not that I couldn't afford one or was to cheep to fork out the $$, I'd just grown up using RH everything that goes bang and kinda resolved early-on to just deal with it. No longer! Dove season's around the corner and I'm looking forward to me and my new companion becoming "one".

Beyond shotguns I do some .223 reloading for our annual "Squirrel Wars" / wild life recycling in Modock county, Northern Ca. I use the Remington 700 as my weapon of choice, others bring the BR6, Ackly and a few AR 223s. Yes, it's RH'd as well but I've gotten so used to it that the LH action feels awkward...

My Benelli comes home in 6 more days! Any suggestions or "don'ts I should know about breaking this thing in and cleaning?
 
How's it going gentleman,

I just signed up to the high road today, I have over 15 guns and I love them all almost as much as my son. I have a variety of guns from semis and bolts to pistols and shotguns. Most of my guns have never shot a factory round. I'm far from knowing everything about the shooting in reloading but I'm always trying to update a knowledge that I have.
 
Howdy from Georgia. USCCA is doing away with their Members Discussion Web Site and recommended this one to go to. I am a member of several other Gun oriented sites over the years starting with Glock, (no flames please) and many others. I have trained with SI and TR and love both. When my membership expires with USCCA I will leave them as I believe there are more places outside that have more info including here. When I can find a thread that I can offer first hand information to I will reply. Overall I see a really nice group of folks here.
 
Hello from Michigan!

I am a new member here, ex military, gun lover and libertarian.

I shoot quite a bit, started making my own Ar500 targets for personal use. Some friends asked me to make some from them, I made a website, now I sell them full time.

I enjoy being around others who understand the importance of a well trained and well armed population in maintaining our freedom.

I've never spent too much time on the forum before but I have been enjoying it more lately so I decided to sign up.
 
I've been an avid shooter/collector/amateur gunsmith since I was a kid. I got ny first gun at 8 Winchester Model 37 Single Shot 20ga. I'm a full time machinist, part time shooting goods store owner. I routinely handle Ruger parts before they go to be assembled at Ruger. For being 23 I have really odd tastes I like cigars scotch and wooden stocks on my guns.

Found a wealth of information in the tips n tricks thread.

Now in my first year of reloading on a Lee classic turret press for my .204 ruger rifle currently, and .308 in the future. I also shoot .22lr and .17hmr more often.
Remington 597 .22lr
Norinco EM-22 .22lr
Marlin heavy barrel, laminate thumbhole 17.hmr
Ruger M77 Hawkeye MKII .204 ruger
Tikka T3 varmint .204 ruger

Besides the sporters, I like military rifles too, but they are quite restricted where I live. My Lithgow (Australian-made) 1963 L1A1 is a luxury. You guys call them FN FAL's.

Looks like there is a LOT of reading for me to do here :)

Howdy I'm Evan from colorado I've been shooting for as long as I can remember. I recently was injured on the job and to kill time started reloading which I find to be a lot more fun than the models and puzzles I started out with almost a year ago. I have always had more traditional arms like revolvers and bolt actions and every now and then I get something in an auto loader but I am more interested in accuracy than anything my favorite gun is my single shot h&r .17 hmr.

Hello I am Emmett Crocker a retired Navy chief living my life's dream in the Mo. Ozarks playing with my guns and shooting every day off my shop balcony, rifle and pistol up to 300+ yrds . Big Ruger fan, wish I owned 1 of every gun they ever made, only got 13 of them now but that is a good start.

Bob Worthington here. I build muzzle loaders and shoot all kinds, mostly old stuff. Grey Haven Arms is my business, and my website is www.greyhavenarms. Recently, I resurrected my first gun, a .577 Snider-Enfield, and for the first time in 53 years, I made it shoot well! 1-1/2" group at 25 yards. Up to then, hitting a dinner plate at that range was difficult, but I finally got it right.
 
Hello all. I'm new to the forum but not so new to firearms and reloading. I have my hunting rigs, but have a passions for sidearms. I reload for all the center fire calibers I own and enjoy testing and enhancing my loads. Looking forward to expanding my knowledge from the members on here.

Hi Everyone,
Been to a few gun shows lately, and picked me up a really nice weatherby 22 mark 22 auto rifle.
Its a tube feed style, and I just love the way the rifle shoots.
What Id like to know, is how do I find out how old this gun is?
I have two other weatherby mark 22`s.....both are clip feeds, ones the new bolt, made in germany,...and the other is an auto, and i know its an older mark 22 as well as the tube feed.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
