10mm because it's the best round ever, it's like a 9 met a 45 and gave birth to submachine gun round or something. It wouldn't be so expensive if everyone saw it my way....

So, now that I've ended the never ending caliber debate :banghead:

I'm 25 and from SW Pennsylvania, both the old lady and I are former Marines, I was infantry and she was an air framer. I belong to www.pafoa.org, have for some time and I am a contributing member there, and am lately looking to expand my firearms knowledge. I mean, by this, that I am seeking to better understand the law and how it applies outside of my firearms friendly(ish, thanks TOOMEY) state. I am working towards getting myself established in the firearms industry and, at the end of the month when we move, I am applying for my FFL and NFA Class 3 licenses. My friend, the former US Navy SEAL you will see me post about from time to time, started his own company, Advanced Gunslinger Armament, a few months ago and I told him I would seek alternate routes to help him gain exposure which may lead to a paying job for me.

I am an advocate of concealed carry and open carry, though I conceal more than I open carry for OPSEC purposes (my excuse, what's yours?). I never was a Glock fanboy, but my G20 was a great investment. My old lady isn't like most I hear about, she has been mad this whole pregnancy that we've acquired 2 AR's and the Glock, all which I have shot or zeroed, and she has yet to shoot one. She is just as passionate about our Natural Born rights as I am, just as cautious about our government and their over-reaching and usurping of powers. I am one luck SOB!

I wanted to introduce myself, let you know I am not just a spammer, and am still trying to figure out how this particular forum works, as I've only really referenced it from google searches to this point.

Heads down, rifles up.

Just joined today (8/6/2013) Reason: I joined the Marines in 1954 and discharged in 1958. I had the same M-1 from Parris Island thru the 6th Marines. Rifle no. 4669795. How can I find if it is still around? Plus if I can locate it, can I buy the rifle?

I haven't experimented with all the newer calibers, but, just remember that on the 8th day, God created 9 m/m. Easier ammo to get & will do what you want to get done. I hate messy scenes. Do what you have to do, & get out. Actually .22 is one of my favorites because the entry doesn't really bleed & they bounce around inside & hard to find. Just speaking from the defensive angle. Also make a lot less noise! Cheers from the islands. By the way, I ain't got no ak-sint no mo!
 
Hello, my name is Bill. I live in California in a very pro 2nd county. I am a ccw holder. My county is Mariposa. The three guns on my permit are a Colt 38 spcl police positive, Ruger SR9C (9mm) and a SR40C (40cal.) I try and shoot at least once a month. Sometimes I get to the range in Merced more often. I am married and will be having my 25 anniversary in Feb 2014. My wife and I are both retired. She retired from Big Creek Lumber which is like a 84 lumber place. I retired the first time as a general contractor having my own business for 27 years. My last 17 years i specialized in custom trim in high end homes. I also retired from over the road truck driving in Nov 18 2010. after 1 yr
 
Just ventured into the new members intros. figured I would leave one.
I am Erich, grew up in the woods. We lived in the city limits and we could carry our 22lr across the road and up the steps to the railroad tracks. Walk a half a mile and shoot in an old strip mine. I have been around firearms my entire life and at time it seems as if I didnt have contact I would die. Used to work with a coworker in his class III shop and attended many a machine gun shoot. I recently got into reloading and precision rifle shooting. I really enjoy reloading and I have bought my 5th press not so long ago. Recently attended a long range shooting school near me and used a rifle I built with bullets I loaded and didnt have one complaint. Shot the 1200 yard gong inside a 2" dot on the first shot and followed with 2 more just to the right but not more than 4" away from center. This was my first time, I know I can do better. I have memberships to Life Member of the NRA, Varmint Hunter Assn., Pittsburgh Gun Collectors Assn., PA Rifle and Pistol Assn, and of several private gun clubs. Just started getting into muzzleloaders and black powder. Its nice to realize the history and skill our forefathers had with the woods and shooting.
 
Thanks for this forum. I always learn something. Grew up hunting and fishing and boating in rural FL back in the good old days. Always had the garden variety of bolt guns, shotguns, and a Jframe 38. Live on a farm in boondocks northern california, so the things are occasionally useful. Packed a garand and 45 while in the USMC. Recently got into more modern semiauto's, namely a XD40 and Stag 7. Enjoying target shooting with them at a nearby unregulated outdoor range. My favorite rifles are my M1 Carbines, but the 70 year old eyes and iron sights have brought me to a greater appreciation of quality glass. Started learning reloading recently to feed the 40, and 6.8SPC. Challenging, but satisfying.

New Member here. Enjoying the information and continuing to learn daily. Residing in Arkansas and will validate that we all wear shoes now that Walmart has come to town. Very glad that Bill and Hillary have a new home and hope they stay there. Most of us are looking forward to a new Senator next year and hoping to lean a little farther to the right and a little darker red.

Enjoying shooting, hunting, fishing, Nascar... all the red-neck things.

Just started reloading and enjoying my new Adcor Defense AR.

I enjoy bench rest shooting ,reload all my ammo and compete just for the fun of it.
I enjoy hunting and fishing.
Don,t talk much I would rather listen. I believe in the Constitution and the freedom it provides and don,t have much Use for those who want to change it.

Greetings from beautiful South Carolina

Been lurking and reading on the forum for a while and like what I'm seeing. A lot of very good information here. Guess it's time to introduce myself. I'm an old fart, 71, grew up on a small farm in Kansas and have been around guns and shooting almost as long as I can remember. As a teenager my older brother and I belonged to a small bore rifle club that met in the local YMCA. Loved it. Enlisted in the US Army at age 18 and spent over 17 of my 22 years overseas. When I retired in 1985 I didn't own a firearm and that didn't change until early this year. I had enough in the military I guess, but the world has changed. I have a CWP, a couple handguns and a rifle. I carry a good bit of the time depending where I'm going and what I doing.

Hi. I have been helped and informed by this board for a few years. Thanks for that. Joined a few weeks ago to be able to post as well.

I started shooting and going hunting with my Dad at about age 8. My Mother was a farm girl and she began to hunt with Dad in the early '60s. She was probably the best shot and definitely could sit still the longest.

Began to reload a couple of years ago and learning something new all the time - having a blast doing it but not in the exploding sense. I am very careful and very glad there are boards like this where I can benefit from those much more experienced.

I live in Central PA where a rifle/shotgun in a truck rack still doesn't cause a panic and I have great hope that the American people will not let the government snow job of the facts of firearms use bear much more fruit. See you here and many blessings to you.
 
New Girl here

Hi y'all, I just found this forum today. I have shot various calibers my whole life, but now I have a .357 revolver. I take my 15yo son and my 10yo daughter to the range. I am considering getting my CHL. Last night I asked my 10yo daughter if she would be bothered about me carrying a gun all the time, and she said 'No, I would feel safer.' Thanks for having me on here.
 
Have a question on how often one needs to oil a gun that sits in a wood case that's lined with velt and is never fired. It's taken out about once every six months and wiped down with a silicone clothing put back in the box and put in a safe. Any help is appreciated.

my idea is simple plug n play version of hat cap
my idea is to take coldroll stainless and make a new nipple to screw in revolvers to use -209- primers. -no caps or hats.

NRA certified CRSO and instructor for home firearm safety; basic pistol, rifle, shotgun; personal protection in the home; personal protection outside the home. Also Level 1 Coach for shotgun.
 
New "Old Guy"

Just registered after browsing for a few weeks. Seems to be a very informative forum. I started reloading in 1972 about a year after returning from southeast Asia. Due to mostly health problems I stopped-started-stopped reloading. Now I'm back into it. Biggest surprise was the availability and price of everything.

Hello, everyone -

I've been coming here a while for the excellent info on firearms, refreshingly devoid of the sort of color commentary one sometimes finds in firearms circles.

I'm a middle-aged lawyer who became interested in guns about 20 years ago when I owned a retail establishment in an urban environment during a former career, and decided I should arm myself for protection. I did it right; took the NRA course, and got my local and state CC permits. I enjoy range shooting but don't hunt. I buy stuff that strikes my fancy or has historical interest, or both. I've got a pretty eclectic collection. I started with wonder nines because that's what was hot when I started. Cyclic elections of Democrats have caused me to buy way more hi-cap stuff than I need. Since our CT governor and legislature have pretty much foreclosed most of that activity, I suspect I'll be going in the other direction and buying more classic stuff for a while. It's just as well, how many AR's does one really need?

About my screen name - I was born and raised here in CT; my family and career are here, but this state's direction on things generally (to say nothing about firearms) has led me to the conclusion that when I retire, it's south or west I go, to where people still have some common sense.
