Hi to all. Just found the site and wanted to be envolved.
I spent 40 years as a pat, and mold maker for a plastics co. Been married to a great gal for 50 years.
I have loaded and cast since 1962 and reciently started swaging and making my own Black Powder.
There is so much I want to do and so little time left to do it.
One life time isn't enough.

New

I'm RTH in Ohio. Business owner, ex college hoops jock 6'5 220lbs, decent condition and up in years.
See the need to move forward with defensive weapons while traveling and for the home.. and am starting with handgun analysis (I will move to shot gun next) and decision. Have spoken to friends (other business men) that carry and have at home. Other friends are Ex Army Rangers and one Seal.

Trying to narrow decision down to 3 side arms to go and see, hold and fire.

Probably want a .45 caliber. Looking for reliability and accuracy. The cost is less important because if I'm moving forward with this, I want to know that if I need to use it...I'm not even thinking about non performance. Probably no different than anyone else.
I will be CC with this weapon

Looking into Sigs, Kimbers and Wilson Combats.
Looking into Bursa Thunder, Beretta Nano and S&W SW9ve 9MM for my wife.

I realize this is pretty broad yet but I am an analyst in everything I have ever done and this will be no different..especially this!

I am continuing to work my way through a bunch of threads and alternate data but any guidance is appreciated.

Thx much

Greetings, Started accumulating weapons since retirement from the Navy. I favor the traditional 1911 platform and AR 15s. Just started reloading on a lee pro 1000 (wow) more on that somewhere else. I enjoy shooting and i fish on occasion. Great web site and good humor to be found as well as a fountain of knowledge.

glad i found this place

new guy from texas

hello everyone! ive been lurking on this forum for a while now to expand my firearm knowledge. i decided it was finally time actually join! ive been shooting for about 6 years now but have heavily gotten into it within the past 2 years. ill soon be purchasing a full reloading setup to further fuel this expensive addiction. i look forward to picking everyone's brains soon!

Hi all, I've been in to firearms since about the age of 12, really heavily since 16. I came from a house hold that was not really pro gun or anti gun, but didn't have any firearms. Now I've got most of my family at least some what into firearms (it helps you be more pro active if you can't buy one but your Dad can if you can just win him over). The main reason I own firearms is for self defense, hunting and just for the fun they bring (I'm fairly new to hunting as some of you know probably by my post in the hunting section). Interested mostly in 20th century firearms as far as shooting/owning. Wish I had found this place sooner.:banghead:

Newbie

New member here from South Texas. I am a retired school teacher who just got interested in guns last year. My wife told me she wanted to get a CCL, because of a situation, so I told her we would do that together.
I kind of went crazy, going from one handgun to many more, mostly concealable types. Being retired, I read different gun forums daily and have joined a gun club so I shoot weekly.
This site looks to be very informative. I hope to learn a lot from you more experienced gun folks.

KeithTexas

Hi guys,

My name is Keith and I'm 53 and live in Tomball (between Houston and the Woodlands).

Used to go hunting with my dad as a kid, although I haven't been in probably 20 years.

Just started to get interested in CC and home defense a couple of years ago.

I currently just have a couple of shotguns, but am interested in looking for a pistol (probably a 9mm), and possibly a rifle like a 7.62.

Always welcome thoughts and suggestions.

Hi All,

I'm from Lake Tahoe and just getting back into shooting after relocating from Chicago. I have a few Glocks; a Gen1 AUG and looking to get back into collecting 1911s. Maybe a Detonics MTX in the future.

Marlin camp 45

I'm new to this site and kind of new to guns. I'm interested in getting a few guns and have gotten some in the last 3 month. I purchased a Berreta .45 px4, Glock 17 gen4, Bersa 380, Stouger .40 that I got about 3years ago, and I've had a Fie .22 for 29 years. That was the first gun I ever purchased and it was put away till recently. Also bought a Sig M400 along with a Thureon defense 9mm. Just got a like new Marlin camp 45. Paid a little more than I wanted but it looks new. No dents or wear of any type. Walked out the door with it for 550. I hope that was a fair price. These are the ones I purchased and have some gifted to me. Nice long guns like a 30-30 marlin and a browning 30-06. A remington 22 that shoots all 22's. Also an Ithica side by side 10 gauge, and a Marlin 22 tube feed long gun.
I had these all scattered around the house and I manage to get a used cannon safe to store all this hardware. My Dad had an incident where my 3 yr old niece got into his dresser and pulled a .38 loaded and ran to the living rom with it. Needless to say all he'll broke loose trying to make sure they retrieved the .38 without anyone getting injured.
Well that's enough about me. I have some questions and will post them once I figure where to do that at. Thanks and hello to all.

:DName's Jim. Got started with milsurps because they were cheap then got caught up in the history end of it. I like to hunt and have just got started with reloading and I'm having a ball. Retired (and loving it ) life is good!

Hello from upstate NY

I live in NY which is the first or second most gun owner unfriendly state in the union. I'm hoping the courts see the justification of the several lawsuits currently in process against the NY State Safe Act. I am a NRA and NYSRPA (New York State Rifle and Pistol Association) member, and a member of a local range. I am a long gun owner and enjoy working with them and sending lots of lead down range punching paper. I have assembled two AR15s and a SKS bullpup, and own several Saigas and a few more. I like what I see in this forum, and look forward to being an active member.

Welcome to THR. Grew up in upstate NY myself, close enough to hit Canada with a rock with a good throwing arm.

Welcome aboard osonic. I grew up in Hornell and have lived in Buffalo, Batavia, Rochester, Auburn, Albany, and Kingston. And now, courtesy of the SAFE Act, I live in Pennsylvania.

Hi,
I have been reading here all afternoon, but it's time to do the "I'm new here" thing. I am from Southeast Pennsylvania. I am relatively new to pistolry, and I own a Taurus 82 38 SPL w/ 4in. Heavy barrel, a CZ-82, and a Smith & Wesson Model 915. Yes, I like older hand guns.

I am really happy to have found the kind of content I have been reading today.

Mark here I'm late posting this, from Northwest Florida or as we locals call it L.A. Lower Alabama. A Stevens 410 was my first shotgun and I still have it but it's a wall-hanger as I can't find parts to repair it. I like the old military surplus rifles and my one regret is parting with my H&R M1 Garand. Hard times forced me to sell it back to the man who sold it to me as I had promised to give him the first chance to buy it if I ever had to sell. I got him to promise to sell it back to me if he sold it but 6 months later I asked him about it and he had already sold it. Did I mention it was match grade, still get a little P.O.ed when I think about it.
