Want... No... NEED pictures! No pictures, no help! LOL JK!

I am sure someone will be along shortly who will answer your question. I would like to know too!

Yep, newer ones are short. M70's used long actions as well, with a filler block in the magazine.

I've never seen a M700 257 in the long action, does it have a filler block as well?

Nope, no filler block. Just a standard long action magazine. I'm hoping I'll finally be able to get the bullets on the rifling and use the magazine. What a switch for a model 700! Generally to get the bullets through Remington's Lawyer Leade you have to single load. Haven't measured anything yet, but hoping! Photos to follow.

That is the 700 classic from 1982. I made the mistake 6 years ago and passed on one at a local gunshop. A friend has this rifle, it is an accurate and fun rifle to shoot. Very nice rifle and a very good find.

Thanks fellas now to scope her and start the load testing process. Fun abounds! Already fixed the trigger to 2 lbs and crisp.

Excellent! Thanks for sharing. The photo of the round in the magazine looks like my long action Mauser in .308 Win. I didn't use a spacer block in it either and no feeding problems.
