"Oh wow, I mean, this is bad folks, like, this is real bad. how come I feel like I am watching a lab experiment here?"

Maybe dress rehearsal is more to the point.

Anyway, if we needed confirmation of our suspicions and fears, we're getting them. That's valuable and a call to action.

Ok folks, allow me to tear you away from writing to your congresscritters for awhile. Something big has happened and I’m not certain everyone understands the implications.

For the past several years many of us have complained about the invasion from the south. We’ve petitioned our representatives to do something about it and been rewarded with lip service. Our President has openly supported this invasion while we have tried to figure out why. Perhaps the events of the past couple of weeks can help us sort it out.

Katrina hit an unprepared area and wreaked devastation on cities, farms and people to an extent we’ve never faced before. Government bureaus that were designed to deal with these sorts of disasters suddenly began falling all over their own feet in a pitiful attempt to just keep those feet out of their own mouths. New Orleans, a city that should have been evacuated before the storm is now being forcibly evacuated and the citizens disarmed.

At the same time, a contingent from the Mexican army has crossed the border to “help” the victims of the hurricane. As I remember, Mexico is a member of the UN, so now we have UN soldiers in the US helping our government maintain order.

What have we been hearing for the past few years about the reaction to UN forces in America? What will the reaction be? Do they really have to wear blue helmets to qualify as UN forces?

I voted for W as the lesser of two evils. I’m not sure I got what I wanted.

I haven't had a chance to read this whole thread, but I just called up NRA-ILA to voice my concerns and they said they are on it.

Apparently, they are getting deluged with calls from members really ticked off about the gun confiscations.

Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Jason Rule said his crew pulled 18 people from their

I think the Department of Homeland Security ought to be dismantled and everyone go back to whence they came. From the TSA to Fema this whole exercise in protecting us from terrorism seems to be more boxing us in. Now they are all the same, just mixed up uniforms.

And it's not so much that Bush trained the NG in Iraq, we did that by dismantling the draft years ago and dispersing active duty units to reserve status. That requires activation for numbers in any global action other than a 30 day shock get in, get out.

All legislation ought to have a sunset provision, an expiration date for the experiment.

This is bad folks. Very bad. My mind is racing, but I can't think of anything we can do other than piss and moan. Many lessons to be learned from this. I hope the Almighty permits us to learn them quickly enough to make a difference.

The proper context is that the Mexican "soldiers" are unarmed. Hard to get excited about a water purification crew.

Yeah, I'm sure this group is unarmed. But what about the next bunch... or the next... or the next? Being killed by a thousand tiny cuts is no different than being drawn and quartered... in the end.

CNN just said they are confisciating firearms. And I knew the next was coming they showed part of the video of the old woman with the pistol and said"She pointed it at the police". Funny I did not see that on the video. She was holding it in the palm of her hand. She told them she did not want them in her house. They kept on and on at her. The video did not show her pointing the gun. I think they used the fact that she had the gun to take her to the ground. I think she was just telling them she had a gun and was able to protect herself.

I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist and usually poo poo those that are, but doesn't it seem like the State and the Feds are actually pushing the envelope to see what they can get away with?

1. The Mayor of NOLA was the first guy out of town and in a safe place.
2. The NOLA PD probably tried to keep order at first but were just overwhelmed. In the end the police stood guard in front of stores to pretty much guard the looters to keep them from getting shot, there were even reports of police officers looting. Will any of these officers ever be charged or even fired for their actions? Doubtful.
3. Looters and criminals had free reign in the city for a few days.
4. Citizens were asked to voluntarily report to the local concentration camp (Superdome), they turned out in droves, and have been held without trial or being charged since. BTW, where are all of the liberals who have been shrieking about war criminals held at Gitmo on this one?
5. FEMA, the NG, the State Police move in to restore order. YAY! The people still living in NOLA were probably gleeful that the men of law and order were on the street and were able to let their guard down a bit. The same government men who now represent a return to civilization start kicking down doors unannounced, confiscating weapons and forcefully evicting residents without any kind of court order. ***!?

Hypothetical situation:

What happens if you live in NOLA, have most of your guns in a heavily reinforced safe- think reinforced concrete, vault door, and the guys with the guns show up asking for the combination?

They better hope I wrote it down somewhere, because those mother%$&#s will have to kill me to get to them.

Simple. It will not be there when you eventually return.

Does anyone where I could download a copy of this footage? As well as any other gun-related NO footage, actually (I already have the ABC clip).

Thanks...

I read your weblog and sent a small donation thru the paypal link. Good luck and Godspeed.

Preacherman is talking about winning -- or losing -- the minds of the people. Like it or not -- right or wrong -- starting violence before all the other steps are officially complete (and probably then some) simply will turn the people against you.

Lose the people and you lose.

I agree with this wholeheartedly, we must use the system. I would put money and time into a legal fund for fighting this if it exists, all the way to the Supreme Court. Still waiting on the NRA, which I am wary of seeing anything happen. Some of you here who say it's all been over for sometime, well it ain't over. It never is. Maybe the balance of thought is tilted, but it can tilt back over time. Pointing out this seems redundant...

For those around you talk to on this at work\home who don't care about the 2nd Amendment when you bring this up, let them know that the 1st Amendment is also under siege as noted they are also taking away people's cameras. So is the 4th Amendment. And if they reply, Martial Law - tell them that's exactly what Hitler said and we are not at war here either, isn't this about a Hurricane?

The SHAME that goes on in NOLA should not be ever forgotten.

members of the Oklahoma National Guard seized weapons from the inhabitants of one home
If this is true then for the first time ever in my 53 years I am ashamed to be an Oklahoman. :(

They would have no trouble commondeering forklifts that may have been used to loot a Rite-Aid store.

"I'm sorry officer, you guys startled me so, with the kicking in my door and pointing that M4 in my face - I seem to have forgotten the combination!" :neener:

"If you really want my guns, there's a sledge hammer in the garage - Swing away!"

What if they passed a law and nobody enforced it?

The situation in New Orleans is dire. Clearly, the state/fed government is selectively enforcing the law, as well as breaking it outright. People are not being allowed to leave the city (even on foot!) and their only means of defense are being systematically confiscated.

Then there are the people in the Astrodome, who have committed no crime, but are not allowed to leave. It appears that several may have been raped and murdered while under government "protection".

Then there are foreign soldiers on U.S. soil helping to commit said atrocities.

Seizing of property, without due process...the list goes on and on.

You cannot simultaneously support the the Constitution and a government which is ignoring it.

Kind of hard to "use the system" when the NG or NOPD is at your door, you have no phone, no Internet connection, the Courts with jurisdiction are closed and under water, and the media* has been barred.

*Not that the MSM would be supportive of your rights (only theirs).
