Gun Confiscations in New Orleans

GOA has received reports that the confiscation of legally-owned
firearms has commenced in New Orleans. In addition to denouncing
this in the press, GOA will also be looking to draft legislation at
both the state and federal level to preclude authorities from
imposing ANY firearms restrictions during emergency response
activities.

This is expected to be a lengthy and arduous process. If you haven't
joined GOA yet, please consider going to
http://www.gunowners.org/ordergoamem.htm and doing so to help in this endeavor.
What is needed, right now, is for somebody file a class action lawsuit against all agencies involved. The class of people for the suit would be all persons that can legally own a firearm.

DesertDog...I had a :scrutiny: response when I read the GOA's press release myself.

LEOs are illegally going door to door confiscating guns, and their big plan is to make a law to force the authorities to obey the laws already on the books.

:scrutiny: :scrutiny: :scrutiny:

Isn't it an axiom of the gun community that criminals don't obey laws in the first place?

It needs no further spelling out.

People still have to defend themselves. GOA and NRA are political organizations. They can use this injustice to push for political change. They cannot fuel up the helicopters and tanks and push back the jack booted thugs. We rely on the 80 million members of the non-standing militia to defend this country against tyranny. Those who are cut off in NO may not realize the govt is not on their side, but the rest of america is going to be ready the next time something like this happens.

Long term, this tyranny will have the same good effect that the 94 AWB did and the waco and ruby ridge fiascos did. Gun owners will get angry, give money and vote. Politicians will be punished, gun grabbers will become timid and the pro-gun people will become more emboldened.

God, I hope so.

Well, one good thing that may come out of this are some very good Second Amendment cases (in the Fifth Circuit no less) that should provide one of the best individual rights cases seen in awhile.

You darn right... if we ever have something like this in my "neighborhood", I will be prepared to shoot anyone attempting to "loot" my property, no matter what kind of clothes they are wearing... :fire:

turn in guns

atek3... no problem. i bought a couple of high points today. i'll give them those. they're ugly guns but fun to shoot.

Want to cry

I haven't been to this board in over two years because... I don't really know, except I got busy with law school and having a baby and stuff... and it was kind of nice to live in ignorant bliss, thinking that my guns were perfectly safe in my bedside table.

Back to reality I guess. When I heard about this I just about cried.

Devil's Canyon

A fire is burning low, the moon is on the rise
Stuck in a devils canyon surrounded on all sides
Got nowhere left to run, time is drawing near

Well load up your guns its time to fight
It just don’t matter who’s wrong or right
Load up your guns get a man in your sights
This canyon’s gonna feel the fire tonight

We’ve been together since the day we were born and watched our daddy die
Shot and killed - end of story too many pages torn
Ya aint gonna run, ya aint gonna go down alone
Many a man good or bad will die and never see the dawn

Pappy wouldn’t sell our home to make way for the tracks
Somebody from a big old railroad had my daddy shot in the back

Well load up your guns its time to fight
It just don’t matter who’s wrong or right
Load up your guns get a man in your sights
This canyon’s gonna burn like hell tonight

Pappy wouldn’t sell our home to make way for the tracks
Somebody from a big old railroad had my daddy shot in the back

Well load up your guns its time to fight

Load up your guns get a man in your sights

I know it's a Molly Hatchet song which makes it suspect from the door, but I don't know, heard this in the AM today when I woke up, and it just kinda hit the spot.

Somehow I feel like the hope I have for this country dies a little every day this situation goes on.

Unfortunately, I think it is quite possible that "spin" will not allow such to occur. One video image of senseless violence using a weapon will be shown more then 100 videos of responsible deployment in New Orleans.

This will be used as an argument to DISARM the populace, I fear...

Well, the one thing this whole affair has accomplished is to make the scales fall from many gunowners' eyes about the extent to which government enforcers will act against the people. It has exposed a deep divide between many, not all, of those who consider themselves sheepdogs and those they consider sheep.

We are outraged about about the gun-confiscation going on in NO. And we show our outrage by pecking away at keys on our computers.

I called a HOAX a couple of pages back

and, Yes, I must have been right.

Where are the bodies? Where is the footage on the Managed Media showing the powers that be hauling the dead resistors out of their homes?

The Military has refused to comply.

Hoax, I call a hoax.

One or two JBTs out of the whole of NO LE.

Those guys will pay during the '83 trials.

Well, certainly not 'Hoax'...the order WAS given. The fact that LEO's and NG were too damn American to enforce it is a blessing, but doesn't change the fact that their non-compliance with the order is the only thing that stopped it.

And I wonder what would have happened if the first guy to fail to enforce it got busted out of his unit?

The military and LEO ranks disregarding an order is NOT the same as the order not being given; certainly not the same as a RIGHT under national law.

Legal action

Don't count on speedy legal action. The courts on the Gulf Coast are in chaos, and will be for some time. Some of the courts are in hard-hit and/or evacuated areas, and cannot resume sessions in another municipality/county/state in the mean time due to their charter. And when they finally do resume, keep in mind that many law offices have been completely washed away, along with all their records. Any trials in progress will grind to a halt while both parties try to reconstruct their work products.

The courts may eventually redress the grievances of the past week, but pressure from the public is the only thing that will stop the abuses in the short term.

For your memory book, this scene from the ABC News Report of September 8, 2005, shows an armed member of the Oklahoma National Guard or other unit on duty in New Orleans just before breaking into a locked home. When they break the door down he and his team rush into the house.

With that scene in mind, here is a multiple choice self test you can take to see if you are in touch with reality. Choose any number of items below:

1. National Guard and law enforcement did not do such things.
2. National Guard and law enforcement were not ordered to do such things.
3. National Guard and law enforcement did do such things.
4. National Guard and law enforcement were ordered to do such things.
5. There was no Hurricane Katrina.
6. This scene from New Orleans took place in Iraq.
7. None of the above.
8. Some of the above.
