DISCLAIMER -UNFORTUNATELY NOT A STEPHEN CAMP'S GUN REVIEW.
I made it to the range yesterday with an FEG DA/SA MBK,Practical Hi Power and new P99C,all 9mm.At 53,no marksmanship records are in jeopardy, but I managed to set off a couple of hundred rounds.I thought I would register my impressions, for the sake of posterity.
1.No failures to fire,or eject from any gun.(Good beginning.)
2.Shot left all guns.(Left eye dominant.Geezerdom.)
3.Here is where the subjective opinions set in;triggers/accuracy/other.The P99 has the lightest SA pull that you would probably desire in a defense gun,as the act of chambering a bullet also precocks the weapon, allowing you to shoot "SA" from that point on.As such, the accuracy is pretty outstanding for a 3" barrel, much better for me personally than the mini Glocks,or Kahrs.(Don't take that as a criticism,as I believe they are both fine choices.)Trigger reset is at least as short as the G26/G27,quite a surprise. The bore axis is higher however than the Glock, much like the Sig 239,so the gun has "muzzle flip",but not at any objectionable level. The FEG was the big surprise, being a $200 gun.Pretty smooth DA,and light SA trigger, but crummy sights.15 round mag makes this hard to beat as a "truck gun."Accuracy was "a tad "more left".
The Browning had a totally stock trigger, with mag safety intact, but was still very accurate.Longest reset however of the three.Lowest bore axis reduces muzzle flip, compared to the other two.In any event,I actually shot 2- 25 yard bullseyes from the P99 in succession,(sure you did buddy, just like that hole-in-one you made back in the day.)Life is Good.
Merry Christmas!
