Although no load data for it yet, they have announced it on their website.

Could this be a flash suppressed Power Pistol??

    From Alliant:
The special extruded flake formulation results in excellent ballistics in a wide array of centerfire pistol loads, with high energy, an ideal burn speed and less flash. It meters well and is available in 1- and 8-pound canisters. Like all Alliant Powder offerings, BE-86 provides superior lot-to-lot consistency.
    Improved flow
    Contains flash suppressant
    High energy
    Lot-to-lot consistency
    Versatile performance
    Excellent for 9mm and .40 S&W.

Considering that the OEM term for what is sold retail as Power Pistol is Bullseye 84, I would expect BE 86 to be pretty close.

I'm hoping adding a flash suppressor to commercial handgun powders will be a trend that will expand quickly. It will really help when loading SD ammo.

    Flash Supresseed Powders

It is my opinion only that the huge bid/order from the DHS may have a lot to do with Alliant offering a"new" flash supressed pistol powder. Perhaps the possibility of selling several billion rounds has made them decide to offer this product to handloaders.I have always wondered why powders like Power Pistol and Blue Dot that provide high performance and high velocity in 9 & 40 did not have low flash properties. It is probably like Power Pistol and not new at all but previously used in military & LE ammunition.

I'd go for a flash-suppressed option if it could be Bullseye in every other way.

Maybe they will do that with Bullseye and Unique like they made them both cleaner burning and kept the burn rate the same. I think they also made Red Dot cleaner. It doesn't matter to me since I have a ton(more or less) of Red Dot.I think flash supression for us handloaders is an idea whose time has come.:)
