New project, putting together an AR10

The only charging handle I've used other than mil spec are the cheap presma ones from justrails.
Seems DMRish did you see Arken dropped their new LPVO 1-8X?
The standard mil spec charging handle works just fine on most rifles.
An ambie one is good for those that are left handed.
Extended charging handles are really not necessary, unless you are mounting a scope.
But if you’re into three gun, they come in handy.
But I’m not looking for seeds when charging my rifle.
I can’t see spending a lot of money on a fancy charging handle. But I want one to match the rifle that has an extended latch. The AR 10 charging handles do cost more then the ones for AR 15s so, I’m looking at spending around $75.

Sounds about right with the added spring pressure and mass of the bolt, IMHO if there was ever a time to splurge on one, a AR10 would be it.

Gunny, that's a fine looking project! (MBT curved is my preferred trigger utilizing the standard spring. The heavy spring in the kit is marked/ packaged in a way that there's no confusion between the two.)

In .308 , with the chance you will be using military ammo and just for more versatility for reloading ECT., I highly recommend an adjustable gas block. One that is easily accessible, the forend cuts have alot to do with that. The spring has little to do with reliability of it in normal range for stock type. The BCG should be of a high grade also, I used to be a BCM fanatic and they have been good !

I remember when the MBT was expensive. LaRue built a new building just to make the MBT triggers and was able to get the cost down. I bought my first one years ago when they put them on sale. I don’t need a three lbs or less trigger on a rifle. I’m not a long range paper asinine.
I think I recall this as well, they were a couple hundred dollars ea for a while right? Then they dedicated an entire shop/staff to making them and you could get them cheaper, but you would expect a pretty good waiting period from the time you placed the order til it actually shipped for $90. Now you can buy a dozen at a time and get em in a week. It's almost like they screwed themselves by making them so affordable. I almost think Geissele would be out of business if LaRue used a standard profile trigger. I also am not especially crazy about their "flat bow" trigger profile either, although I have not tried one. They are excellent triggers anyhow. I just prefer the Geissele for a battle carbine I guess....

Any recommendations? I need a .936 with low profile. Will my gas tube from the existing 0.75 gas block work with a .936 gas block?

I will second the Adj. GB, try yours first, but an Adj. GB calmed all my LFAR's recoil impulse dramatically.
It will be dependent on your parts used and your barrels GP size, and as mentioned some ammo choices.

As for a trigger, the G SSA-E is on sale for $150, and is a helluva good trigger. FWIW, I can't seem to get used to the flat face of the LaRue trigger.
And have noticed I shoot the SSA-E better v. the LaRue.

Nice Build. I have done several AR 10 builds in 308. I really like the 20 inch barrels. A bigger difference in velocity that I would’ve thought. The 18s a good compromise.
